Also if you work the wheel left while trying to spin I’ve always been able to hang it up and get it spin both it’s just hard to find that sweet spot with an open diff
700r4 is worthless with a 4.10 because of 1st gear, best setup would be a built 4L60 w/ standalone or a built 200-4r. A 700R4 is good with about a 3.73 but my 77 with 3.40's @ 70 is 1900rpm converter locked. Cammed small blocks need more rpm to be happy cruising.
Mileage is definitely going to be off if the speedo is off that much. I'd love to see how much difference a 4-speed overdrive lock up transmission would make with the same engine.
My cammed SBC came factory with 3.40's in the rear and a TH350. Factory engine swapped it to a 700r4 and got 18mpg highway unlocked converter. Now it's a .060 350 with a decently large cam and a big stall converter and it gets 13.5 highway converter locked cause it's too low of rpm for a big cam small block at highway speeds lol
I’d put a 3.42 in it with the 3 speed trans, I wouldn’t put a 4.10 in unless you have a 700R4 or any 4 speed really hell even a manual 6 speed wouldn’t hurt at that point with a 4.10 that’s a real short gear you wouldn’t be cruising to comfortably with a 4.10 and a 3 speed
4.10's on a 700r4 is worthless, if it's that steep go 200-4r. My 77 is a 3.40 rear with a 700r4 and its around 1900 @ 70 WITH the converter locked (much higher without cause of my 2800 stall), great for a big block but with a big cam small block like mine I think it really needs a 3.73
@ 700R4 is more durable and more aimed to a truck application a 700R4 is perfectly fine with a 4.10 if you want to continue a nice cruising speed without too much fuel consumption sure you can get heat in the trans by having a high stall converter but I’m the type of person to just do a bare minimum stall even smaller than the cam may want only for daily drivability purposes
@ZechScheuneman modern stall converters from reputable companies drive just as good as stock, my FTI drives incredible in my daily C10. 700's aren't any more durable than a 200 when we are talking modified internals, and the 3.06 1st gear of a 700 is way to short for any use with 4.10's. 3.73 is the perfect gear for a 700, converter locked at 70 is still 2200-2400rpm based on tire size which is perfect cruising range for a cammed SBC but 1st is still usable past 5mph. With a 4.10 it may as well be a 3spd OD with a granny gear.
@ well mine was on a tall tire so it worked out I did have the 3.73’s in that truck but that thing slayed the tires like they weren’t there even grabbed 2nd standing still almost everytime and rolled out
@@ZechScheuneman yea my 77 has 3.40's but with a stock size 29" ish tire. If I was taller tires than I'd go 4.10 but street tires like on my and his trucks I'd go 3.73 unless he does a 200 4r then I'd go 4.10
You are such an upbeat guy. Love the truck!!
Thanks!!
Love the look of this truck! Super clean , not over done. Just right! o7
Thanks man!
Very Nice Truck Jimmy!!!
I appreciate it!

I love my 3.73 in my 73 c10 th400.
I think thats what I'm leaning towards
4:28 what is the part # for the headlight connectors?
Dorman 85810 for the 3 prong and Dorman 85809 for the 2 prong

Awesome truck. What rims and tires are you running. Love the offset of those rims with the hub caps.
Thanks man. They are Wheel Vintique 62 Series. 15x10 with 295/50/15s on the rear and 15x8 front with 235/60/15s
Where did you get the bed cover. Loving the truck
Thanks! It a Extang 92535 that I ordered from Amazon
Can u show us how u built that bed cover
I installed the bed cover in this video:

Good point! That would be sweet! That or a manual swap!
@@JeepinJimmy that would be cool too! I have a 76 I'm doing the generic LS swap on
@JeepinJimmy using a built 4l60

How is your steering? Is it sloppy, or is it good?
Its pretty good! Maybe a little bit of play at center but not bad at all
