This countdown seems a little odd. Why would you specially buy a car just to avoid paying Sub £200 a year? You can even pay it monthly now, that's less than £20 a month!
no please, enlighten me. im sure its not unlike one of the other however many thousands of trolls views on here. just trolling because they can. and before you bestow me with your infinite wisdom, consider that what vw did, is almost identical to what car lewis was doing, a drug cheat, yet he's still a national hero, and i consider still a great athlete. yet vw come along, cheat on cars when in emission testing mode and they should then be thrown off the highest cliff? call me simple but i dont understand that. as at the end of the day, vw still make great quality cars, cheating or no cheating, akin to carl lewis, he's still a great athlete with or without drugs. yeah its pretty dumb what they did, nor do i condone it, but i dont think eternally whipping a company for one wrong achieves anything. who knows though, maybe this is a troll thing as i mentioned earlier, all the keyboard heroes need something to fuel the fire and jump onboard with in order to fill their day with hate. to each his own i guess.
ozzycarnut No dude you're reading me wrong! I think the VW scandal is fucking stupid the fact that in this day and age we rape VW over the coals for emissions cheating while GM has been given a pass for killing 130 people with a faulty ignition switch which they knew about for 11 years blows my mind. This is the same sort of stuff that rendered the Pinto a laughing stock but 40 years on, we don't care but because VW cheated emissions (Which it's been proven that many manufacturers have been lying about) we say 'oh, there dead in the US' you what!? 70 years of loyalty can get swept away by a stupid controversy which was actually for the benefit of the consumer! It's utterly ridiculous, if you're all that concerned about the environment lease a Leaf! Finally it's nice to see someone who thinks this is as stupid and hypocritical as I do!
Nearly all of these are diesels and other than the lack of refinement there is a problem owning these if you only do very short trips because the particulate filters will most likely get bunged up. I was thinking a bluemotion Polo or 1.0 L Fiesta a good choice? Come to think of it my neighbour's Mini Cooper is only £20 to tax.
+DaSpookyNuts I think it was either mentioned by the guy who did the Mustang review or in the video details, so yeah, he's off to pastures new, whereas I want him to stay in this pasture with all the Brummy cows and sheep.😭
What kind of tax he is talking about actually i am not from uk. I am new here can anyone please explain about the car tax system or the running cost in 🇬🇧?
Funny how a car with around 100g/km does not have to pay road tax but when it comes to motorcycles they have to pay like £80 for having probably around 50g/km or less for other motorcycles. Please correct me if i am wrong but i think it is stupid that they did that.
Contrary to the title and the wording in the video NOBODY PAYS ROAD TAX as it was abolished in 1937. That's right ALL CARS ARE ROAD TAX FREE! What you are describing is VED (Vehicle Excise Duty) which is a pollution tax so low emission vehicles don't have to pay VED either
why does carbuyer insist on putting so much importance on road tax?? if youre willing to spend £20k or whatever on a brand new car then i dont think £500 or so (max) at the end of the year is really going to feel like much of a financial burden
+Cv02 The PHEV always held its own more stable and comfortable than the diesel version. The refreshed Outlander has improved in refinement, comfort and handling an the PHEV reflects that too. Albeit, Carbuyer may have not had the time to test it just yet. Still, who buys a car for handling (if that's what you mean by horrible) if the car is made and advertised and recommended for getting below 100g/km. Given that this is about cars that pollute less, it's a wonder why the PHEV wasn't mentioned. I know one PHEV driver who puts no effort into driving economically at all and she got over 80 mpg in 6 months of driving. Given that most of these diesels would be lucky to get 40 mpg (and well over 100g/km) driving through town at rush hour, I wouldn't mind getting at least twice that, even if it didn't feel sporty at an average of 5 mph.
+toyotaprius79 the cars included in this list were all decent to drive. The O- phev was reviewed by Rebecca on telegraph cars. It's shocking. And the dumbest thing you could honestly say in no matter what regard is "who buys a car for handling"
Your guys are very lucky in the uk, as in ireland we pay €120 road tax on zero emissions cars & €170 on cars emitting 0-80g co2 these should be free..... total rip off..
Stop to think ... When you buy a low emission vehicle the cost factor of road tax is added to the price of the car. That way road tax is taken from the consumer up front. So in a sense the so called car tax is payed. You are lead to think you do not pay car tax....but you have !
jaguar is on the list just because its british...2.0 l diesel sport less than 100 g? what world are you living in...oh sure, skoda, VW group....nice try there chaps
How about telling us the real mpg???? I can read, I can pick up a brochure and find out the official manufacturer nonsense. You are supposed to be car reviewers.
A bit disappointed not to see any plug-in cars. It would be cool to see an actual top 10 EVs since car buyer seems to keep them separate. In real world use the Skoda would be well over 100g p/km so it shouldn't be tax free.
Yet motorists constantly say us cyclists should pay it as a ridiculous argument used for their deep-seated adolescent hatred toward us. Oldest ,most pathetic , irrelevant , argument ever ... Change the record . See some cars don't pay it too! If we start giving off ferocious climate altering farts while pedalling maybe they will rethink it 😂
not a single EV in the top 10 ... yeah they are all rubbish, unlike Skoda (sarcasm implied). Has Carbuyer ever heard of Tesla, or Leaf for that matter?
repo4 loool hahaha you think this garbage bunch of cars are good? let alone the fact that all of the diesel cars there have false statistics on emissions xD
No Volvo V40 D4?
99g/km co2
190 bhp
0-60 7 secs
74 mpg
Why isn't this in the top ten??
Ya... I was thinking the same... Great car it is
+1
1.0 eco boost rather than the citi go or the Hyundai i10???
So I'm assuming the Leon and the Octavia TDI are really eco this time...
I don't understand why someone would compromise on power, refinement, torque etc just to save £300 a year on a possibly £20k car?
This countdown seems a little odd. Why would you specially buy a car just to avoid paying Sub £200 a year? You can even pay it monthly now, that's less than £20 a month!
+The Real Emile finally, a sensible comment among all this vw bashing. hallelujah!
+ozzycarnut Haha, don't even get me started on that stupid damn scandal!
no please, enlighten me. im sure its not unlike one of the other however many thousands of trolls views on here. just trolling because they can. and before you bestow me with your infinite wisdom, consider that what vw did, is almost identical to what car lewis was doing, a drug cheat, yet he's still a national hero, and i consider still a great athlete. yet vw come along, cheat on cars when in emission testing mode and they should then be thrown off the highest cliff? call me simple but i dont understand that. as at the end of the day, vw still make great quality cars, cheating or no cheating, akin to carl lewis, he's still a great athlete with or without drugs. yeah its pretty dumb what they did, nor do i condone it, but i dont think eternally whipping a company for one wrong achieves anything. who knows though, maybe this is a troll thing as i mentioned earlier, all the keyboard heroes need something to fuel the fire and jump onboard with in order to fill their day with hate. to each his own i guess.

my apologies. i read you wrong.
Do you mean vehicle tax, carbuyer?
Nearly all of these are diesels and other than the lack of refinement there is a problem owning these if you only do very short trips because the particulate filters will most likely get bunged up. I was thinking a bluemotion Polo or 1.0 L Fiesta a good choice? Come to think of it my neighbour's Mini Cooper is only £20 to tax.
Where is Ford Focus ?
No Volvo v40 D2? It should at least take 2nd place
Don't go Mat!!!!!
+Tom Ripley What do you mean? Is he gonna leave Carbuyer?
+DaSpookyNuts I think it was either mentioned by the guy who did the Mustang review or in the video details, so yeah, he's off to pastures new, whereas I want him to stay in this pasture with all the Brummy cows and sheep.😭
+DaSpookyNuts yes the new guy will take over.
@@TomRipley7350 he left.....
@@TomRipley7350 he's doing better on carwow
what about the BlueHDI from psa group.
the 308 especially with the 1.6 120 bhp
I like the crest on your shirt
Don't be so filthy. He is human, you know. He's not just some hot hunk for you to objectify.
I bought Skoda Octavia diesel 2.0 148hp I don't know if is economic but I regret not buying 1.6 version 🤔
What about the BMW 330e, 225xe or all the other hybrid cars available at the moment?
how come there is no fiesta ecoboost on the list?
What kind of tax he is talking about actually i am not from uk. I am new here can anyone please explain about the car tax system or the running cost in 🇬🇧?
Can you please upload somethings new this 2018 Road tax not gonna be free soon specially for London
I have the green line estate what a car runs' on the fumes it's that good and it's a nice looking car also.
I only realised at the end I wasn’t watching CarWow !
awesome video
But, Skoda = VW, VW = False emissions....
Well they fixed that and they wouldn't include it if it hadn't been fixed.you have a brain
+NotQuiteFishFPS Don't be too sure about both parts of your sentence...
NotQuiteFishFPS I didn't know you worked at VW, sorry!
+bubblemanpie He doesn't work there. Even I know they stopped. Check the news.. OR just use your brain
+bubblemanpie my mums friend owned that exact seat in the same colour and everything and they got it fixed and there was a giant queue for it
that XE looks good!
Funny how a car with around 100g/km does not have to pay road tax but when it comes to motorcycles they have to pay like £80 for having probably around 50g/km or less for other motorcycles. Please correct me if i am wrong but i think it is stupid that they did that.
Krystekk it is stupid.. I only have a 125 at the moment so I pay £18 a year, however I know that more powerful bikes pay more.
Motorbikes give off all sorts of nastiness, and they're loud so maybe it's a noise tax.
If he goes to the Telegraph it will be Matt and Rebecca again!!! Lovely
kia picanto is already 5 years on the road. can we watch a new review about it please? thanks!
I need Qashqai in Brazil...
Contrary to the title and the wording in the video NOBODY PAYS ROAD TAX as it was abolished in 1937.
That's right ALL CARS ARE ROAD TAX FREE!

A Volkswagen group diesel car: "emits ONLY 99g/km CO2!!!!!!" Yeah... right...
Do a review of the Nissan Leaf 2016
why does carbuyer insist on putting so much importance on road tax?? if youre willing to spend £20k or whatever on a brand new car then i dont think £500 or so (max) at the end of the year is really going to feel like much of a financial burden
WTH? Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV?
Horrible thing to drive
+Cv02 The PHEV always held its own more stable and comfortable than the diesel version. The refreshed Outlander has improved in refinement, comfort and handling an the PHEV reflects that too. Albeit, Carbuyer may have not had the time to test it just yet.

Wow, they really like Skoda at Carbuyer :P
BMW i8?
Busy editing a farming video that I think you might enjoy 👌
When will you review the new Mercedes c-class coupe?
Lexus ct 200?
what about the VW Golf? Great on fuel and £0 road tax!
Saw no.1 coming a mile off, he was sitting in the car at the beginning
Your guys are very lucky in the uk, as in ireland we pay €120 road tax on zero emissions cars & €170 on cars emitting 0-80g co2 these should be free..... total rip off..
No Mention of Hybrids or electric vehicles? Hmmm. Interesting.
All of them are Diesel engine. exept the two city cars.
So running on diesel cars still the cheapest way to save money ( consumption and road taxe).
2017 version needed
I like your videos too much
Stop to think ... When you buy a low emission vehicle the cost factor of road tax is added to the price of the car. That way road tax is taken from the consumer up front. So in a sense the so called car tax is payed. You are lead to think you do not pay car tax....but you have !
NO U!
indeed
I'll do anything not to pay tax...... Even buying a Skoda!! 🙈 🤣
Come on Carbuyer let's face it few people believe what VW group says any more.
GREENLINE...well, to me, every VAG product is ironically a red light.
Where's the VW Golf Diesel?
Think this has changed now. Some cars are paying more on 2023.
What about bmw I8
+Adam Hill This is about price and that's not the case with an i8. Even the XE is a bit expensive for this, but an i8 costs three times as much.
+pliros OK thanks
+pliros OK thanks
No fiesta ecoboost?? dafuq
Literally nothing i want 🥳
But i don't want a diesel. Suzuki alto is no road tax too. On with the research 🎉
Bmw i8?
too expensive
Road tax was abolished in 1937 ;-)
Yawn!
Renault Clio iV 1.5 dci is tax free better than that Citroen Craptus you had in the list
jaguar is on the list just because its british...2.0 l diesel sport less than 100 g? what world are you living in...oh sure, skoda, VW group....nice try there chaps
Try watching this after April 2025
No electric, no hybrids what is going on??
How about telling us the real mpg???? I can read, I can pick up a brochure and find out the official manufacturer nonsense. You are supposed to be car reviewers.

Skoda and Seat should pay taxes for ugliness.
+g00dfeeling So should the majority of manufacturers cars made in the past 15 years.
Lol
g00dfeeling driving them in the road will get you tickets for ugliness
Yet motorists constantly say us cyclists should pay it as a ridiculous argument used for their deep-seated adolescent hatred toward us. Oldest ,most pathetic , irrelevant , argument ever ... Cyclists are ferocious climate changing farts!
So, road-tax its a tax for the poor?
no vw?!?
hehe
