Wow you reacted to EXO-M's version of "Call Me Baby." Hardly anyone ever reacts to the Mandarin Chinese version, thanks. Because you like EXO's vocals, you definitely need to also check out the EXO-K Korean version of "Call Me Baby." If you watch the two versions side by side, you will see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dance sections where you might think "it looks the same" there are different members doing different parts. The two versions of their MVs may look similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch. (They don't just film the MV once and put the Chinese song in place of the Korean song, but they actually produce two different MVs. Everything you see in the MV was done specifically for that video.) For example, in the Mandarin version you see the EXO-M members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version you will see the EXO-K members (D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Suho and Kai) sing those same parts. In the Mandarin version a lot of the main parts were sung by Lay and Chen, but if you watch the Korean version you will see D.O. and Baekhyun sings those parts. And in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version it's Chanyeol and Sehun, etc. Also if you watch the Korean version you will be able to see a different sports car with Kai driving the car instead of Tao. In "Call Me Baby," there are only 10 members. This MV came out in 2015 and it was the first MV after 2 of EXO's Chinese members left -- Kris left right after their "Overdose" MV came out and Luhan left about 6 months later in 2014. This also was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao (the guy driving the sports car, who is the youngest member of EXO-M) left the group shortly after "Call Me Baby." In the beginning when EXO had 12 members they produced all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin, and they promoted as two groups who were part of the larger group of EXO -- EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese). But after the Chinese members left, they no longer had enough EXO-M members to promote on their own, so they officially combined the groups into one with 9 members. Now that they no longer promote as the two separate groups, they only produce their main tracks in both Korean and Mandarin. However, they still produce a Korean version and a Mandarin version of almost all of their MVs. Lay is the only Chinese member left, but all the members learn the lyrics in Mandarin for their Chinese versions of their songs. Fun fact: Leading up to the release of the "Call Me Baby" MV, there were 10 Pathcode teasers that were released over several weeks. There was a short teaser video for each of the members, and combined with clues from an SM Entertainment twitter account, we had to piece together the story and solve the mystery to reveal the release date and title of EXO's new song, which ended up being "Call Me Baby." If you notice, there are 10 letters in the title "Call Me Baby" so there was one letter per EXO member. If you want to watch their Pathcode teasers just search SM's TH-cam channel. They are all there. The stories in the teasers also connect to EXO's larger storyline as well, and it is thought that they not only show clues to "Call Me Baby," but they also reveal more clues to EXO's storyline and tell a little more of EXO's story. The Pathcode videos are super interesting and very mysterious, just like everything EXO does.
They used to shoot the MV differently, coz different members sing different part in both version. yes, the set and location are same but the shot is different. Plus, you can see the lipsync matched perfectly, which means even the group dance also shot differently(they also used same shot too)
Thank you thank you for doing their Chinese version! Hardly anyone reacts to their Chinese versions but I prefer some of their Chinese songs. If you get a chance, check out the Chinese (or EXO-M) songs for: Lotto, History, Let Out the Beast, 3.6.5, What Is Love, Christmas Day, and First Snow. I would love to see your reactions. FYI, I became a Chen stan the moment I saw this video lol.
