The first round ended 10 seconds earlier and Lerena wasn't given a chance to recover, although he was hit after the bell. It looked like the referee would give chance to Dubois whole night long, but would stopped it by the first given opportunity when Lerena is in trouble. Disgrace.

Fortunately for Dubois there was no 3 knockdown rule
@@teanshin there was from the WBA (because Dubois is WBA champion) and they stated that if a fighter gets knocked down 3 times in one round then the fight should be immediately stopped
@@_muhammadzain Theres a difference between getting knocked down, and tactically taking a knee because you'd rather lose points that round and make it to your corner to hopefully sort your ankle problem. The 2nd time he went down he definitely took the knee and a standing 8 count. The 3rd time is also likely to be tactically taking the knee, depends how good a view the ref had to make a decision on that.

If it were the 3 knock down rule, then Dubois would have lost, it seems he can't take the power shots.

IBF rules on this one no three knockdown rule. But the ref stopped the fight AFTER the bell rang to end the round!
Think a couple of those were just dubois knee Injury not actual knock downs . But the clock was a bit convenient being about 10 seconds early

So this was Lerena's biggest opportunity for his carrer and he had Dubois on the canvas 3 times in round 1 then he comes out in round 2 and does absolutely nothing and let's Dubois recover and he gets stopped on his feet in round 3.

Dubois was hurt the other guy never engaged after first round and for the finish he had an open guard dont take a rocket scientest to see this was a jurney man getting paid to lose. Clock stopped 10 secs early for dubois. Ref called it off when the guy was standing and perfectly fine with 30secs to recover.

10 seconds early the first round, Dubois gets to continue after three KD and Lorena gets waved off at the first instance by Howard foster the biggest crook in boxing when it comes to refereeing, this is as close to a fix as it can be

Strange fight, Lerena was right on top of Dubois in the 1st but decided to do next to nothing in the next round. Any other fighter would have jumped on Dubois and stopped him, but he let him recover and then get stopped in the 3rd. Odd indeed.

Think he was pretty smart taking the knee in the first round. Then he came back and showed what he does well which is heavy combinations.
That being said, he'd struggle still against the top 5 in the division. He's young and is obviously learning on the job which is great. Reckon Dubois will be a real force in 4-5 years.

Looks like Dubois came in cold and twisted his leg up. The other fella didnt land any devastating shots but the time keeping was on its arse ref stops it after the bell.

Just watch Dubois footwork after the 1st knockdown - he was placing full weight and inertia on his right foot again and again thru 2 +3 so I call BS to his leg injury claims. This fight result and the conduct of the ref that led to it was absolutely DISGRACEFUL and I'm mad as hell

Shouldn't have been stopped. Lerena would have recovered for the fourth round. He didn't exactly fall over.
That was definitely a fix. Larena stopped throwing punches - he was paid to lose, that wasn’t supposed to happen, he let Dubois survive.. fix all over it. Dubois is a hype job.
Daniel is a legit warrior, fighting through that leg pain is bad enough let alone trying to box on it.

The speed at which they started counting as soon Dubois hit the canvass was frightening. It's like they wanted to go home early. They didn't even wait for the ref to start the count.
For those saying the fight is fixed. Dubois clearly twisted his ankle in the first round, it wasn't the punch that sent him down. It was smart move by him to go down willingly to avoid further damage to the ankle, since there was no three knockdown rule. The stoppage after the bell was questionable though, ref should have given him a count.
He was taking full blooded shots unconscious. Foster actually gave him a chance tbh. But Dubois could have really hurt the guy. The uppercut was sickening.

He was not hurt by the punch he hurt his leg and the SA guy had wrong tactics he gave DD the only chance to beat him - had he used the ring his jab or any sort of movement on the way he would have won because trying to walk thro him left him open to the counter. Great win by DD good corner work and courage.

Wasn’t happy with timekeeping in the first or the referee, then I saw the uppercut & left hook that ended the fight in slow motion and I think they did Lerena a favour in stopping it.

Dubois wasn’t hurt there, looked like he turned his ankle and couldn’t stand on it properly so chose to take a knee twice. Unusual circumstances. Stoppage was def after the bell rang but the guy was done and likely saved from further unnecessary punishment.
Dubois has confirmed there was no injury. He just couldn’t get his legs back under him. And to not allow a fighter the chance to recover in between rounds is unforgivable, especially when the ref had given Dubois that chance in the exact same situation with a knockdown at the end of the round. That fight completely stinks
