Never forget they ALL fixed the price of bread!!! There is no bigger sin to capitalism! They should have all gone to jail. All we got was a useless gift card.
Yesterday I paid 3.99 a loaf for Country Harvest bread...Superstore Regina.
$0.94 at Walmart
that was weston bakery owned by loblaw
GUT the competition bureau, Canada has a monopoly problem!!!!!
If Canada has a monopoly problem wouldn't you strengthen the competition bureau and give them some teeth rather than Gut them?
@@professorakiba434 it has been corrupted, it must be gutted and replaced
get the state out of our lives.
monopoly .. of 10 major grocers here. I mean why have 10 when you could have 12 or 15 eh ? clueless, what we have is healthy competition and whatever the opposite of a monopoly is.
@@professorakiba434You can’t be that naïve? The government controls dairy and poultry buy giving the prices increases they want. You know dairy got a 17% increase? Wake up
Just Boycott all stores, Save your money, Dont need it Dont buy it, They will eventually get the message.
They price match. Use FLIPP
Grow your own; not too late yet!
Yeah here in Alberta, Walmart/Safeway (sobeys) Superstore (loblaws) here are just as guilty of over charging on basically on normal things. Milk, eggs, bread, cheese, juice, meat are all skyrocking here in Calgary and area.
I swear every month prices are going up. Canada govt needs get involved now all across Canada.
Yes, because the inflation has nothing to do with the costs being passed on by the producers/suppliers?
Ha, I work for loblaws, (sorry but I bills to pay) and they are NOT listening..they own their supply companies as well as their retail fronts so who are you kidding with "they are listening" ? They sell Loblaws products in Loblaws owned retail stores period
Every "independent "store is stuffed with PC products... this is a joke
I don’t work for them but work in sales. I know their profit margins have skyrocketed, using the pandemic for their gouging launch into higher margins. They must think we don’t realize it but we do and Im staying away. I have now found alternative stores and won’t be coming back. Their greed will cost them in the long run.
Isn't THAT the truth... I work for them too.
So don't buy them. They're substandard anyway. Just barely squeaking over the legal line.
Better yet find somewhere decent to buy your food.
@@grunf0094profit margins skyrocketed? From what? Up from 3 to 4%? And don’t forget, that margin isn’t all food, not at all.
In 2013, the Competition Bureau allowed Sobeys to purchase Safeway. So much for competition in this country. So much for looking out for Canadians. 👎
What I find an insult are their30% off stickers on expired food when everyone else is using 50% off stickers. They can keep their rotting fruit and veg.
Pure greed. Now they have a charge for flash food service.
Fresh co sells pure rotten discount produce. Not fit for human consumption….
I was in No Frills and they had 50% stickers on close to expired products. By the way they were packed with shoppers.
I went off about this. Seniors depending on these fruit and vegetables and they want more for the damaged or aged produce ~ Record profits isn't enough apparently ~ They receive an annual allowance for damaged or aged products already ~ 😡
We do put it on Flash Food and sell it cheaper.
No prices have dropped so yea they aren’t listening
No they arent. Milk just went up by 40c. An exact same item order placed today by my mother in her town , that she placed 3 weeks ago at Zehrs, is $7 dollars higher for just a few items. They are NOT listening.
I boycott put of civil principle. We owe more to eachother than we do to our wealty.
Don't feel bad for shopping at Walmart. If loblaws cared about keeping money here you would see it in your communities like some of you might remember.
Well said !
I buy from Giant Tiger and local as much as possible. Walmart is a little cheaper sometimes. These large companies only understand greed, and maybe boycotting is the only way they'll listen.
Boycotting should also be applied to Gas Stations.
Might as well stay home until FJT is ousted.
The Government, CLOWN
PP is also funded by loblaws and oil. We will only suffer more if we only focus on leadership
Food basics and no frills should be boycotting as well. Their prices are disgusting.
No Frills is owned by Loblaws and is part of what we’re boycotting right now
Food basic is owned by metro.. no frills owned by loblaws and freshco is owned by sobeys... the prices at food basic, no frills and freshco are bad but they are no where near as bad as their bigger counter part stores.
Just a reminder that Jagmeet's brother is a lobbyist for Metro. You're being played.
Yup. highest margins.
As well complaining about grocery stores is ridic. Government blows cash out the door, our services get worse but no one is trying to boycott paying our taxes.
Glad I’m boycotting both 🙌🏿 I’m only shopping local and small trips to Freshco
@@FonderTomato13100% correct 🙏
How many other politicians in the conservative party and Lib party are working for big buisness, bet many of them are, they just don't talk about it.
This is the silliest boycotts! U r hurting the PT employees, who depend on hours to make a living. Who r u kidding? U really think the BIG BOSS(ES) care(s)? Employees r having hard times making end meet, just like everyone else.
About to go do my weekly grocery top up at Giant Tiger (which until recently would normally been done at a Loblaws brand). Summer garden is in and for meats and other produce Lococos in Hamilton is a great option. I will still shop at Sobeys and Metro for the time being but only for sale items.
Canadian farmers need to figure out how to sell their produce directly to Canadian consumers. How do Canadians "buy local" WITHOUT boycotting huge corporations?
All one needs to do is a search for local farmers and then call them up. Works for me every time.
Never forget that PPs campaign manager runs a Lobbyist firm that represents Loblaws and lobbies on their behalf to the government
Never forget that JT and Singh advocate for child genital mutilation
Convienent that you never mention all the Liberal and NDP connections to lobbyists in the grocery sector. Even Jagmeet's brother is a lobbyist for Metro but let's not mention that. Face it, Canada is screwed.
@@Maxmulham💯
Never forget that Jagmeet's brother is a lobbyist for Metro - the only company not being slagged by Jagmeet. Sounds like stock manipulation to me....sickening.
@@MaxmulhamExactly! They always like to tell only 1/2 of the story
I haven’t been and it is the only grocery store near me
Monopolies and corruption need legislation
I BOYCOTTED LOBLAWS BACK IN 2018 AND WILL NEVER GO BACK.
Get em Emily, the world would be in a much better place if greed like this was called out and held accountable.
but emily bring paid by walmart seem like it right
It's been more than 3 months since I stepped into any loblaw and its chain of businesses
Its been years since I haven’t shop in shopper’s Drug Mart and that’s due to prices. I only enter the store just for postal service. I have given up on shopping at Loblaws in the past month c I will be keeping it that way. I find other places to shop and I can get more for my buck.
Shoppers rents out space to Canada Post. So essentially you're still feeding into the Loblaws chain. Just go to an actual Canada Post
small chains, bakeries, farmers markets, small farm market businesses, to the farm directly if you can.
If you are in kw lots of options for farmers markets, Central meat market etc.
check the buy local maps.
also try to grow your own. if you have an apt you can at min grow some herbs, sprouts/microgreens, lettuces in a small pot etc.
Thank you
small grocers . are the biggest ripoff. Same stuff as big grocers for 50% higher prices. I boycott them like the plague.
@@planesandbikes7353
Because they don't have the floor space or customer base to buy in bulk and charge like the big grocers can.
Drop the carbon tax for ALL Canadians.
Oooooo that'll show them. It amazes me how this is the biggest issue with sime ppl. They are clearly ignorant of the fact that Harper initiated and brought into effect this measly tax. It was Trudeau who started giving checks out. Would you rather go back to Harpers way? ತ_ತ
Lol lawblaws doesn’t care they will continue to gouge
False statement. Look up Loblaws net profit margin after dividend payout.
Shoppers drug mart is almost empty
Lol what are you stalking shoppers drug marts? I was at 2 yesterday and both were quite busy
I was at SuperStore, yesterday. The store was pretty full of customers. It was not a Ghost Town.
Went to our local farm Market and it was very very busy. Glad to see folks out supporting these businesses. And the prices were real cheap deals to be had boxes of tomatoes 2 for $5.00 probably 40 pounds ,cucumbers big bag of minis $3.00, peppers 12 in a bag $3.00 and so much more. Fresh meats of all kinds and then the different ethic food vendors with foods from around the world. Have not shopped at any loblaws and affiliate store since May 1st and I'll stay away until there is change
Boycotting will do nothing, they have a Monopoly on the market. Putting pressure on your Local MP's and Government for change is where this needs to go.
The government isn't listening.
And let me guess, you haven’t done that either
@@johntheboy6555 Let me guess...your a troll
Indeed, but all politicians are corporate criminals
Look up the definition of monopoly for me.
The problem is the Crown Corporations are protected by the Liberal government and they donate a huge amount of money to the Liberals.
In 2014, Harper tried to introduce telecom companies into Canada to compete against Rogers and Bells and it was completely overturned within a year.
This is also true with grocery chains as well.
They donate to all parties - it has nothing to do with "Liberals".
Exactly how is it true for grocery chains who are not crown corporations?
If you think it's bad with liberals, remember that these companies are run by conservatives.
Yup ! And in the latest budget that the NDP voted in unison with the Liberals they just gave 25 million to loblaws
Yup. The Triopoly of Bell, Rogers and Telus banded together to stop Verizon from entering the market and lowering telecom rates. I remember that.
Loblaws is not a crown corporation
Since May1 I have not shopped Zehrs or Loblaws. The Boycott!
Load up your cart at Loblaws, leave it to be put back on the shelves. Only buy one item, or nothing.
Even if you have to shop there, you can pick up more than you’re actually going to buy.
Let's all support the Loblaws boycott for 6 months
Prices going up at funeral homes they say its do to the cost of living
I can also see boycott on superstores and Walmart going on my hometown.
in my city the small stores are a little worse than the big one's so its hard to do any type of boycott.
We pay too much for gas, hence we pay too much for groceries💡
Don’t shop at Loblaws shop at wal mart instead 🤣🤣🤣
When are we going to boycott this disastrous Trudeau's government? When?
When we can vote! I believe that is October 2025, but, I am not sure.
You can its called election time.

Remember that 35 dollar pack of chicken breast? Lol
Keep it up
jesus christ are we interviewing birds?
😂 a bird brain!
That's dinner. Sometimes boycotting is a difficult task.
I stopped going there long time and been hoing to walmart even though walmart is still pricey but nothing compared to lowblaws.
Let Aldi come in that will make them listen.
Aldi is two corporations that don't compete with eachother. They won't help. (Aldi west and Aldi east)
Walmart has some of the highest prices in canada😂
Walmarts is gross…..never go there
Go Emily!!!🎉
I work at a Superstore in Saskatchewan and I cam trll you, that boycott is not working, it has still been busy
Superstore is owned by Loblaws.
@@shauncameron8390 I know, that is why I said that
Where does this woman think the "Farmer's Markets" are getting their food to sell? Probably Loblaws! I realize she lives in southern ON & their growing season is longer than in the Prairies but unless someone has a whack of Greenhouses, (that are expensive to run), they don't have most seasonal fruit & veg yet. If the reporter asked this woman where food comes from in Canada & how it gets to the grocery store I doubt she would have a clue. She choses to be ignorant & thinks yelling "boycott" of the cheapest store is the solution. Laughable.
I don’t know why this company is taking the biggest hit. If another grocery store is cheaper then go there. Loblaws it the only chain I can think of that offers price matching. Funny Walmart dropped this practice.
Probably because their prices are always cheaper than any where else.
@@noinfo326definitely not.
the loblaw boycott is working everyone is now going to the food banks
No, they aren't listening.
This is a simple powerful protest, taken up by ordinary Canadians from coast to coast.
We're fed up! We're sick of the greedflation, we're tired of the price gouging, we're done with the monopoly these grocery chains have.
And it starts with realizing just HOW MUCH POWER we have based on the shopping choices we make. Break the Loblaws habit & try something new!
Then please start protesting and boycotting power, telephone, banks and government, please!
A real Mother's day story of dedication to our family ❤
I’m boycotting SuperStore. Been shopping at Save On and find that I’m using less gas cause Save On is closer, a little smaller, easier to get around. Only ever bought staple and pantry at SuperStore as their produce is never fit to buy and you can smell their meat dept from a long way off. (Always wondered where that smell was coming from? Dead animal carcasses back there?)Never go to Shoppers so no problem there. Will never go back
3 out of 4 trips for food was to SS, i did get my week of lunch meat and bread for work lunches from a butcher, was cheaper, but nothing else was 😢, wpg SS is busy, we dont care
I joined the Loblaws boycott, and I have to say I’m impressed. I’ll be shopping at Walmart from now on instead of Superstore (except for meat) amazing final bill in comparison! I felt spoiled having them pack my groceries too. Lol
Would you help out if Walmart was next month? Civil resistance isn't all downhill.
walmart is worldwide brand with high prices riht
I am 10 days in on the boycott! Found new brands, but in Vancouver Real Canadian Superstore is one of the cheapest grocers. I refuse to pay the higher prices. There is always Walmart
So tell me this because I am genuinely confused. The boycott is to encourage lower prices, correct? You claim Real Canadian Superstore is the cheapest store to you, correct? So why are you boycotting them?
Loblaws can say whatever they want, the only thing I'm checking is their increasing profits since the pandemic. I've been loving the boycott, there is a RCSS just down the street and I don't think I'm going back.
I'm definitely shopping elsewhere. Shop Local. Let's make a point.
Yeah. Shop at your local Costco, Walmart or other big box retailer. Maybe help out that local 7-11
@@MikeTruth-rr6zo Yes. Usually, healthier food is there, too.
I shop at Loblaws and no boycott will stop me.
Lol they're giving the impression of listening but in actuality this whole thing is an insulting joke...
A fair comparison would have been between No Frills and FreshCo. Loblaws vs Sobey's.
Even Walmart stopped their $2 bags of discounted fruit and veg. They raised it to $3 and they stopped that, too. Now, when they know there is a boycott, they just price the discounted produce a fraction cheaper by the pound which you cannot tell re if it is much of a discount or not. They are all finding ways to gouge the consumer. We are in bondage to all 3 chains and Walmart too because they know we have little to no choice here. We need Aldi's but Germany can't be bothered to try to enter the Canadian grocery market with all the food lable languages and other restrictions apparently in place here to covertly protect Gaelen Weston and his 2 or 3 other partners in crime.
Wait until they finish putting the pinch on small farmers, and you're forced to go to big name stores only.
Walmart has much better prices
Not much better realy, one day something is one price then a couple of weeks later prices are up ridiculously high. It's better to look at deals at different stores and shop for some deals hear and there.
But it's Walmart.
Walmart doesn't price check or give rain checks.
no. especially when they don't do price match anymore
not here. Superstore is cheaper than Walmart on everything still. I like Superstore, owned by Loblaws. Maybe I am glad Loblaws proper is not here in BC, as Superstore is the cheapest grocer than anyone else in Canada or the USA today.
Whst about safeway?
I think that's sobeys so go for it. Unless there is a sobeys boycott on next month or something.
I want Carrefour and Auchant
Yup, and now their bank is having money literally disappear from their accounts for some reason. Go figure.
Loblaws is busier than ever… I drove by one and you couldn’t find a parking spot. One month won’t do a thing to their bottom line, but 7 months MAY make a difference.
They do price match.
Don't ever shop there again.
With their money they can buy anyone.....
The only solution is more competition, it's the only thing companies feat. We have the result of the government letting companies buy up the others, failed policy. Split Loblaws into 3 companies, at least.
I have 10 different grocery companies near me. Only own is owned by Loblaws. There could not possibly be better healthier competition anywhere on earth than in Canada. No monopoly, not even an oligopoly.
10 percent off
How christan
not just canada with monopoly issues
Google stores not owned by loblaws.Giant Tiger is not affiliated with loblaws. They have great prices, and their staff is sweet. They are getting busy now, and I hope they stay that way. Farmers markets, heck, farmers. Co ops in western Canada are community owned. Trading with neighbors. Making food is actually not that hard, either. I'm very proud of everyone putting an effort, and zero shame to any who don't have anywhere else to shop. ❤❤❤❤
Not every major has giant tiger
Wht about Sobey's it's expensive too
Who allowed that ?
Give tax free 2 years to metro food store for opening 25 store in bc
Buying local is usually more expensive
Clearly you've not been to a Loblaws recently
@@jovo55 doesn’t make his statement false
@@jumbome7420 ok, even if it is it's going to be marginally more expensive, do you want to make a billionaire richer? or support someone who may live in your neighborhood trying to get by?
@@jovo55the really sad thing is, a lot of these “farmers markets” just buy their produce from Loblaws and other grocer chains, then sell it as “locally grown”
It isn't really though, I get all my eggs, lots of veg, and blueberries locally, and they are cheaper than a supermarket, and the quality is in a whole different universe.
They couldn't give 2 shyts.
cook your own food, grow your own food
Learn to shop sales and buy enough to last until the next sale of that item. I get around $130 per year back in points from shopping at No Frills.
