Im super glad NI are making this deep dive on Massive X. Its a complex instrument only because it is an extremely powerful and beautiful beast. Yes it has some issues, and the visual feedback may not be the best or easiest experience, but once you get a hang of it you start to realize how this is a synth that can stay relevant for many many years to come, capable of making rich and unique sounds like no other synth at that level. Its like having the power of Reaktor in a simpler and easier form

Got this in the Komplete bundle and thought I'd never use it. I'm more familiar with Vital, and I love that Vital is free.
However, the amount of fantastic presets in the komplete 14 standard bundle is mindblowing. I'll be flicking through these presets for the next decade. Shoutout to all the sound designers who worked on these patches, it's inspiring
About time. This plugin is so slept on, sounds way better than many popular synths both in it's core and effects, and you get such interesting sounds from it!

Massive X is a very good sounding synth, and finally there is a tutorial from Native Instruments to show all functions, awesome. May I order a "How to Use Everything in Kontour / Rounds / Playbox (especially the FX section).
I have this awesome synth and I've only been using the presets and tweaking them a bit, not really understanding what I'm doing. This tutorial (more like a course) is well explained and easy to understand. I look forward to opening this synth and following along and figuring it out!
honestly, I love Massive X. A lot of people complained about how it's not the next Phase Plant do-everything synth or whatever and complaining at the lack of user wavetables like it's a crime or something, but I think that's all part of its design philosophy/ethos. Massive X doesn’t really want to bring you to new sounds from the modern bass music perspective of infinite resampling and the rabbit hole of wavetable production/discovery. Instead, it keeps that dimension simple and to the point. In addition to giving the synth it's own charachter, it also invites the user to focus more on the other parts of the synth, qhich are honestly really interesting, unique and inspiring.
To me this is honestly quite refreshing as I don't find the task of hunting down or carefully crafting wavetables particularly exciting. I feel like Massive X invites you to have a more holistic approach the synth which I'm a big fan of. The signal routing section is reaaally sick, so much interesting stuff you can do, the oscillator bend modes are really gnarly and sick. the MSEG moduator is so cracked (it's actually so good tho), the effects are nice, some of the modulators are pretty unique too. The synth kinda gives me a west coast vibe with all it's modularity, feedback capabilities, bend modes, etc that's kinda hard to come by, and in a really well crafted way imo. Personally, from this perspective I'm kinda glad you can't import wavetables.
People ALWAYS complain when they can't import their own wavetables/samples. In other words, they want 20 synths sounding the same 😊. Instead, they should learn how to appriciate each instruments specific soundengine(-s) and character. Like it would have been a real instrument.

i also find the kids' obsession with importing wavetables to be absurd. people have made and are still making very good music (musical music, not intricately textured farts) with just a few basic analog oscillators. wavetables shipped with the massives are even more flexible and will last anyone a lifetime before they need to image-to-wavetable peenus.png into their music
i don't yet have MX, but i quite enjoy what i've heard from demos. it has a diverse range of sounds and sits in a sweet spot where it's not another analog wannabe, but also not full of the dying gargles typical of a synth that allows its users to fold a wavetable 1000 times
Massive X could benefit from really needed new feautures. There are sooo many ideas you can not do. Its still my favorite though because all other stuff is even worse!!!

Have written the plan, functions and interfaces for a new synth with lot of functions that are new, usefull and much much effective for music creation. Wrote to Fabfilter... no answer... what about you guys there at native instruments... you want to hear about the project. Have all details for production. Just need a company with good programmers😅
I'm still working through this guide but already am seeing how to make some nasty insane bass sounds. This VST is probably the best virtual instrument I've ever bought.
Although I now fully understand how Modulation works in MASSIVE X & others like SERUM from Xfer Records etc, I found this video VERY helpful; the way you explain whats going on very simply. I'm getting to understand better now how things like Phase Modulation introduces Harmonic Under & Overtones (I already knew about hamonics, and the Fundamental). If I was a complete newbie to synthesis and this particular synth, I think it would have helped me in Less time to understand than the few years it has already! THanks man!!

I can't beleive I havent been using Massive X. I got a bunch of free expansions for Massive X when I got Komplete and never tried them because presets are usually cheesy when companies drop them but these were all very usable sounds. Really shows the versatility of the synth
The standard library presets are so good that I got myself a Komplete update this year mainly to get more Massive X presets. This video helps a lot in using Massive X.

The flat/minimal kind of design makes this beast a bit confusing. But it's really not that confusing. Thin lines inside the UI and low contrast between sections may contribute a bit to overall sense of confusion. But you will get used to it pretty quickly and will completely switch from the old one.
Very extensive walkthrough of Massive X. Very helpfull! Great! Please, make this a standard for every NI-plugin. Is "how to use everything..." a playlist yet?

Missed a huge important point that Exciter Envelope is largely supposed to be used to trigger comb filter - which is exactly why it's called like that - to excite/ping out the filter. :)

Thanks for the video. I've spent hours programming sounds inside MX. I have a few ideas for version 2.0
01. A second main filter to run in serial or parallel.
02. A trigger system that allows the ADSR on an envelope to be changed to different states/positions per each new key played. (Sort of like how Rounds is a sequenced synth, I think it would be cool to have in MX a feature where I could play the same note several times, and each time the key is played, the specific item being modulated is changed by a set amount. This would give the synth patch being played, a more human like quality with each new keystroke being a different one of set value. I know this could be done using the VR to some degree, but VR is usually predetermined points. This could even go into the realm of sequencing the pitch, similar to Rounds, again, how one can play a few notes, wait a moment, and continued playing, and the melodic sequence continues playing as programmed by the sound designer. Right now the best option is to use the Performer tab, but there is only sync, and retrigger mode. Nothing that functions as a sequencer and remembers the last note before continuing on to the next value set. I hope I am making sense!
03. Panning options for individuals oscillators.
04. A way to use Wavetable Oscillator 1 as an Aux to effect the sound of the WT Oscillator 2 as a separate output, so to retain the original WT Osc 2 sound on top of having the new Aux WT 2 sound output.
05. A way to assign multiple specific notes to each Oscillator in order to create custom chords. Right now, it is limited to 2 notes per oscillator. I achieve this by going into Envelope 2, setting the sustain to max, dragging Envelope 2 over WT Oscillator's pitch mod. Next I set from Polyphony to Mono. The limitation is that only a max of 2 different notes can be set. If I want to get 3 notes within 1 Oscillator, I then have to rely on WT Oscillator 2.
06. 3 more Insert effect Slots and 3 more Stereo Effects slots.
07. 1 more WT Oscillator
08. Sync-able Envelopes to Host

please thank you very much for this content because it is sometimes difficult to find clear explanations on the use of the parameters in vst synthesizers. as a suggestion I would ask you to create this same content but in other languages for example Spanish because there is very little content in my language being one of the most spoken languages in the world.

I’ve had massive x for years and decided to learn it since it’s similar to serum. Great video and straight forward. I guess my question is in the routing. It looked like he didn’t do anything with this at all during the early phase.
Is every change global until there is a change in the routing panel, then everything had to be routed? Or do I have to route everything every time?

Honestly I've heard a lot of backlash about massive X but now that I actually have been using it for a few weeks I think it's quite a good update. It sounds very nice and it is very nice to use. Easy on the eyes etc. Nice job

So glad they added Apple Silicon support was beginning to think that this brilliant synth was being forgotten by the developers. Next step, please upgrade the UI of your older synths so they can be re-sized cause I really like FM8, but it hurts your eyes.

This video was extremely thorough and informative without wasting time. This helped me get started in Massive X! I do have a question about touch sensitivity. There are a few presets that have touch sensitivity and others don't. I know the response will be the T1-T4 parameters, but I completely zeroed out T-1-T4, in fact I cleared every assignment on the patch, and there was still touch sensitivity. I tried comparing an init patch with the patch that had the touch sensitivity and I couldn't find anywhere to turn this feature on and off. Any suggestions?

Killer tutorial! When using Noise, it seems as though some sounds (like "White") are the same for each hit, while others ("Sleepy Bow") change with each hit. Is there any way to keep a Noise.sound the same for every hit?

massive x is dope , still a bit ovrwhelmed by it but will be nice when i get there - one thing i don't get is, you show how to make arpeggiator with performer, but how do you make a sequencer?
On Massive X's launch any change to the envelope hasn't been reflected in the visualizer, which was a static image. Same still applies for Random LFO. Make it move like Vital and Phaseplant does, so that we can actually see what's going on.
If you use Bitwig's modulators you can see the dials moving in Massive X (or any synth)

Question.if I'm happy with the sound and record while playing.can I Stop any moment and adjust ,correct or replace sound marked on track or do that without even recording?just by placing sounds here and there and play to see how it all sounds ike in old fast tracker II ? Also I'm thinking of making mostly ambient/background for tracks with real drums and guitars etc .is library really that big. Or it would be waste of money for me as I could grab another software that I could just put some ambient/synth sounds and record the rest?

Is it possible to use multiple instances of this as plugins in Sonar? I get the same sound on each track with Massive on, the settings are duplicated, even if I set them on different MIDI channels. What can I do to use different versions of Massive sound on different tracks?
