    anyone trying this: the shroud was screwed on with two screws with the one i got, you can rip it off, but if you ever want to get that shroud back on, you should really just unscrew those and the shroud should come right off
    also getting that thing inside the case is somewhat of a hackjob, I think I'll replace it with a noctua LP NH-L9a if I'm opening this thing up again..

    • @Lonthor
      @Lonthor ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, I just installed the wraith cooler and the fit is way to tight and is pushing on the case. I definitely recommend using a low profile CPU cooler instead.

  • @examancer
    @examancer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The noctua NH-L9a-AM4 fits in this case snugly but perfectly, like it was made for this case. This will provide cooler and quieter operation for the 5600G or provide more than enough cooling power for a 5700G. 120watts really should be enough for the 5700G, especially if you cTDP down to 45watt.
    I've had my X300 for a few years and it has been running a 65w 2400G, 2x M.2 drives, and a SATA SSD. It has been flawless and the power supply has never struggled despite me using every bit of IO and CPU power this thing offers.
    Will probably upgrade to a 5700G after 6000/7000 series launch and bring down prices on 5700Gs.

Fortunately, my version came with the latest BIOS revision, so it supported the 5700G right out of the box. Was even able to squeeze a tiny 40mm PWM Noctua fan in the back. Used graphene stickers for the ram and NVMe's. Shucked the sata ssds and mounted them to the chassis underside with thermal epoxy and raspberry Pi heatsinks. It's a packed sandwitch. That cpu with that cooler and with that shroud on will burn like a star. Plus wraith stealth has annoying tone. To anyone buying x300 and thinking of using wraith stealth, its fine i guess just replace the fan, any 25mm/92mm will do.another problem with stealth heatsink is that its thick enough to push fan against the mesh housing wich makes it acustics of it a lot.louder and holes on the mesh are too small to let through enough air so it will run hot and kinda loud. Noctua that fits inside is slightly better since its not right againts the mesh and cools 2-3 degrees better but still too hot. Just try it without the case and you will see. Also it WILL need setting lower powerlimits and temp limits in bios for everyday use so dont expect to run benchmarks as in the videos. Still i am happy with mine, just had to mod the case to fit wraith spire with copper core.

      While that is understandable, that is still a year off at minimum , and VEGA(GCN) is pretty well optimized for in gaming, as it was the Xbox One and PS4 architecture. So pretty much all games right now and probably for the next year will be well suited to play on GCN graphics options. Radeon won't really be optimized well, until another year at Minimum because games take 2 years+ roughly for production. If they "openly" support FSR on APU's then it will even be less of an issue.
