    I totally agree! I'm in Los Angeles, CA. Lots of TRAFFIC, so no need for the turbo really.

    I appreciate the thought you put into this video....👍👍
    Last week I configured the turbo and arrived at the same price point you did.
    The rear wheel steering and acoustic glass I definitely would go for. One makes the whole car handle better and the other will allow you to hear the expensive hifi far more clearly.
    However wanting an animal free interior like you the deal breaker is the heads up display can only be had with full leather on the dash...crazy..!!.
    That HUD could well turn out to be pretty special so a box I want to tick......my solution is to wait for the Audi Q6 e-tron which is arriving very soon.....hopefully that will be more animal friendly overall....and maybe even a touch cheaper.
    The alternatives you mention are either Chinese partly owned or made so definitely not for me bearing in mind China's atrocious on going human rights record.
    Useful video though...thank you..!!.

      Human rights abuse and each car sending all data to the CCP! How fun

      Thanks for the nice words and your perspective.
      The rear wheel steering would definitely be tempting and you are right about the HUD / leather dashboard combination. Same with the rear wiper and double glazing not being compatible - odd...
      Based on what we have seen so far, I am also very much looking forward to the Q6 and the fully electric A6 as well!
      (For better or for worse, I am sure all products these days have some degree of Chinese tech or components. 🤷‍♂️)

      Yes superfast the turbo is but who is going to go superfast every time from one stop light to another with the back full of groceries or toddlers in child-seat, and speed limits everywhere.
      Macan 4 is already pretty fast for UK, considering the speed limits that we have.
      And don't forget the insurance!

    Martin can you do a matrix headlight demo video with a more sophisticated system from one or more of the German OEMs?

      I would really like to get my hands on some of the latest cars but so far, the best I have seen is the Polestar 2, which despite not being the latest generation tech (and not German) was very impressive:

    My big concern with another electric Porsche is that it’s unbelievably high pricing means it will follow its big brother the Taycan into the top slots of the heaviest depreciating EVs league

    • @MartinKarel
      @MartinKarel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      In my personal opinion (and this really is just a guess), I don't think the Macan will suffer as badly as the Taycan for a number of reasons:
      It's a much more "mass market" product in a very popular segment whereas the Taycan was trying to compete in the shrinking saloon segment (at least initially before the Sport and Cross Turismo versions came along).
      Many people bought Taycans for tax reasons and it was the only choice with the Porsche badge at that time.
      Plus crucially, as ridiculous as it sounds, the Macan EV is actually priced well for a Porsche. You get all the absolutely essential kit as standard and on the drivetrain front, a big 100 kWh battery yet the car is cheaper than the entry level Taycan with a smaller pack and no AWD.

      @@MartinKarel re depreciation. even if you had the cash surely most new ev buyers are going finance route pcp or similar and swap out 4 yrs down the line. much more sensible as long as % rate ok?

    Do you think 20-inch wheels are likely to have the best range, or some 21-inch tyres may perform equally well, range wise?

    • @alanngli
      @alanngli หลายเดือนก่อน

      Assuming similar material and construction, a smaller wheel is always lighter and therefore more energy efficient. This is before taking into account width, which if it comes down with diameter as well, would make the energy efficiency even better.

    Your video is an explanation of the ridiculous cost of spec’ing a Porsche to an acceptable standard. Fair enough to sting buyers for their trim vanity but it is unforgivable to have to add essentials like ACC to a £70k car. Very clever marketing by Porsche to let you customise your car and once you start ticking a few boxes for essentials adding a few more becomes psychologically easier. You definitely need to be disciplined but there is no escaping that with all Porsche’s the base car will always start at a minimum of 15% above the list price. It is therefore a bit of a con to think Porsche’s depreciate relatively slower than other quality cars because very few options add more than a fraction of their cost when you come to sell. Two years on a good optioned mainstream Porsche will be far better value - as currently illustrated by the Taycan. Although not built to exemplary Porsche standards if I wanted a sporty Crossover/SUV I would seriously look at the Hyundai Ionic 5 N which has lots of goodies and tech as standard.

    The dealer informed me that the rear side airbags pose a risk to young children, which is why they are optional. Nonetheless, the vehicle is equipped with seat airbags and other safety features.

    • @MartinKarel

      So let me get this right...
      If you equip the car with the optional airbags and sit children in the back they are at risk? Doesn't sound ideal to me. 😶

    Well I purchased a well customized Taycan 4S in 2020, I have over 80k miles on it and love the vehicle. Porsche is no software company for sure; however, if you want a drivers car I think you will be happy.

      I think the only way to buy is to wait for used prices to drop. The base 4 is also too slow for EV so have to wait longer for turbo to get lower.
