If you want to see a power plant similar to this still operating I’d suggest checking out University of Missouris, it’s been retrofitted and added onto a dozen or more times in its 100+ year life but it’s still such a cool building.

comme toujours, c'est si triste de voir des anciennes power plant disparaître par la destruction... cela me rends toujours très triste.

I agree. Could at least save a few and turn them into museums. Part of the reason I explore them so often now.

I worked for 34 years in Los Angeles DWP electricity generating station with most of those years as an operator. I recognize a lot of the gauges, charts, and switches. I even noticed the synchroscopes which were used to synchronize generators to the line. The equipment in this Art Deco Power Plant appears to be from the 1940s and 1950s. Power Plants built in the 21st century are very different than these Old Power Plants. In the control rooms of new Electricity Generating Stations there are a number of computers, computer keyboards, computer mice and a number of large computer screens. There are no gauges, no switches, no charts. In the newest generating stations it looks like everything is run from computers.

@@davidgrisez It's a shame that power station will never be designed this way again. The amount of thought and effort put into a building that is only designed for generating electricity is why I find them so fascinating. Newer plants provide much higher output and will much more efficiency, but something is lost. A good comparison is a raw classic car to a modern hybrid

@@Abandoned_480p The last set of units I operated was Scattergood Generating Station units 1 and 2. Both of these units were built in the late 1950s. These units had a mixture of old Bailey Meter Controls mixed with newer digital electronic controls that included a computer screens for running the Selective Catalytic Reduction device and the Auxiliary Steam to Hyperion Water Treatment Plant that was added around the year 2000. Also on the Control Board two old Bailey Meter Selectors were replaced with electronic controllers built by Yokogawa Company of Japan. One of the Control Technicians told me that he had to program slowness into the Yokogawa Controls, because the the Yokogawa Controls operated at the speed of light, while the old Bailey Pneumatic Controls operated at the speed of sound.

@@davidgrisez I love finding old bailey meters, they tend to have a lot of them in old boiler house control rooms and on guage panels that are detached from turbines from my experiences. I genuinely enjoy the insight, hope to hear more on future power plant videos 🤟

Very cool your VX2000. I can't afford any VX2000/2100 or dvcam PDs because too expensive and hard to find in my country, at least i have a HDR FX1E that was way cheaper and i can record either in SD 4:3 or in HDV 1080i.
Tbh most of the times i will be just recording in it's SD 4:3 mode more than the HDV 1080i mode also because when deinterlacing it takes way less time in my computer with SD content and i like SD 4:3 more for the same reason you use your VX2000 for your videos.
