It’s fascinating to hear Steven Spielberg say that they planned the ride even before they shot the movie, wow! Such a great movie and an awesome ride! It will be missed by many.
Oh man, Jurassic Park was my favorite ride for many years. I’ve ridden it dozens of times, and I think it malfunctioned at least 75% or the time (which just added another level of suspense)!
I can beat that. I can beat that. When the attraction was still under construction (in 1995?) I contacted the Universal publicity department as I wanted to write an article about it and they had me come out and I was given a guided tour when it was still being built and I got to walk around in the parts of the attraction which later could only be seen from the boat but not visited close-up. Sounds like something I should look into trying again. My article finally appeared in Prehistoric Times magazine. I was even allowed to take behind-the-scenes photos that day.
I was doing stage crew for the Beatlejuce show the year this opened. It was a BIG deal... The ride still looks really good! I'm sad I won't be back in time to ride it before it gets changed. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!
My favourite movie of all time and easily one of my favourite theme park attractions! If I'd known the last time I rode it was actually 'the *last* time' I'd have ridden it a bunch more. Probably the coolest “ride thru” video ever! Never been to universal so I’ve never been on the Jurassic Park ride but it looks so sick!!! Kinda bummed I’ll never see it in person.. I wonder what kinda changes they’ll make 🤔
The ride system will stay the same, with new animatronics, effects and a new paint job. Oh and of course, the Jurassic World branding. Reopening in 2019, this will take only a few months.
From what I hear they dont plan on changing the ride in Orlando. They're pretty much the exact same ride except you get way more wet from the drop in Orlando
The one in Orlando is very similar. IMO better because more space means more greenery making it feel more real. But there are some features on this one that we don't have in Orlando that are pretty neat though. But overall they are extremely similar.
Looks like the truck and the Dino that pops up out of the water are broken. I guess its great that they will be doing a refurb so they can bring back the magic of when it was new and fully operational.
Last time I rode that ride about a year or so ago, half the stuff didn't even work, the rubber skin on the dinosaurs, was melting and cracked faded, and falling off. I'm pretty sure once say knew it was going to be turned into Jurassic world, they pretty much stopped all maintenance, other than safety!
I love that they put cameras on the ride. I'm sad I never got to go on it in Orlando when I went back in 2000. I loved seeing you and Ally on this ride. Thank you for sharing this with us Justin and I hope you guys have a great day and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Thanks for letting us enjoy this for one last time :) There used to be more exciting elements to this ride before now as well(the car used to fall, the area where you said there was a ghost dino actually had a dino in it that shot out water, etc...)
Hearing that music makes my heart sing! Every time my husband and I ride this ride we are in awe and the dinosaurs seem so alive! Some of the best memories in the Jurassic Park area.
I’m sad to hear this. My first vacation without family was at California. This was the very first ride I rode when I got there back in September ‘95. I was floored when the gates opened and it was definitely a lasting adventure for me. Thanks again for taking us along.
I rode it in 1996 a couple of months after it opened. The Jeep fell down the wall then. Great physical effects ride, no screens. Wish they were all like that.
But it will be evolving & change & it will be even better & I was blessed to have been able to experience it & my mom who surprised with it when she told me a weeks before we went to Florida for my sister's wedding & I got so very excited & brought my Jurassic Park sound tracks including the Jurassic world soundtrack & I started humming the Jurassic Park theme& when the wedding was finally over & went to Orlando to where we would be staying I had the mother of geek moments as a Jurassic Park fan& lover of all dinosaurs & I was sad when I had to leave & I promised myself the some day I would return even if it killed me & that was two years ago & I would love to go see the real life Jurassic world. 💖😉😇💗

Love that my kids loved her especially my 5 year old daughter who has special needs kept telling her to calm down so cute. They even loved the ride so glad I got to go on it before it changes
I wanted to be there so bad! I was saving up for it. But a couple months ago, I had a family emergency so I had to go to Utah and I wouldn’t have been able to go on another vacation for another 3 months so.... yeah I can’t make it over there before the ride closes. But I’m happy that you got to ride it one last time. Thank you for sharing the experience with us.
I'm super excited for the new Jurassic World make-over! Hopefully they replace all the animatronics with new, updated ones. I've also heard rumors that the new ride will have the mososaurus!
Going to miss this ride even though I was terrified every time I went on it because I was always anticipating the drop. Excited about the new ride I hope it's even cooler than the original.
Also, as I'm sure most JP fans know, the entire opening event for the ride from back in like 1996 is available to watch on TH-cam with such LA royalty as Rob Rodriguez in attendance and riding it for the first time. Quite the nostalgia trip if you're ever in the mood!!
That looked awesome. I have been on the Orlando version and to me, this personally looks better. The atmosphere looked more dark and intense and the animatronics looked more realistic. I hope the new version is amazing as well.
I LOVED this ride when we went back in 2008! So sad to see it go, but I'm sure the updating and upgrading will make it an even better ride in the future!
i'm so sad about them re-doing this! jurassic park is one of my favorite movies, and i finally got to go to universal this past year (im 21) and this was, by far, the best ride. even with the forbidden journey up and running
From the rumors I have heard The new Jurassic world ride will not only keep the same track with the changed Jurassic world setting but the new drop will have both the indoumus Rex and the T. rex will be at the top fighting as you go down the drop. They might also have blue there with them as well

I haven't been on that ride, Although I have been to Universal Studios Hollywood, back in the 80"s, every time I hear Welcome to Jurassic Park even on video I get chill bumps, I'm sorry I'm going to miss the original ride. That movie is a classic.

It was my first job as a teenage. Now that I know its going to close, i'm going to take my wife and family to Universal. Thank you so much for this video.

I only hope that when it reopens the unbridled monetary success of the JW movies have helped it regain some of its former glory that was lost over the years due to various breakdowns/rotting dino skins/"ghost dinos"/broken jeeps/lame T Rex arms etc.... It's still one of my favourite attractions ever but when I rode it last (maybe 2016) it was only a shadow of its incredible Jurassic majesty.

When I was there the Dino popped up but the dilos didn’t spit water sad that my fav Dino’s didn’t hit me in this ride at least they got me on the tram

I also heard there will be a part where you see a full sized animatronic mosasaurus diving for sharks

"Countdown to Extinction"? That's got to be a little in-joke aimed at Disney (that was the original name of Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom).

Wish they would update the Mummy coaster. I was underwhelmed by that one, since Jurrasic park and Transformers are awesome.
