I actually got my dad the big screen edition DVD of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for his birthday a few years ago. I was surprised when the screen ratio changed the first time I watched that movie and that was the first time I watched a movie in IMAX. I actually just rewatched that movie a few days ago. I'm hoping to finish watching Dark of the Moon one day soon because I never finished it and I've never seen Age of Extinction and The Last Knight.
It’s such a missed opportunity that the shots after the second IMAX scene (Devastator) wasn’t shot in IMAX as well. How Devastator was reshaping the piramide and the rail gun shot should also have been in IMAX in my opinion
DOTM was the first Transformers film I ever saw in theaters and I will cherish that day forever and it’s why I consider it the best Transformers film ever there’s just something about the movie that makes it feel just right it’s impossible to replicate it PS: all the battles in Bayverse are just too good especially the forest fight

I'm from Brazil and I got the Revenge of the Fallen IMAX blu ray, I really liked the IMAX cut. It's sad that Dark of the Moon doesn't have an IMAX cut in blu ray.
I wish more movies would be released on Blu ray with IMAX ratios because it takes advantage of entire TV screens which in my opinion really enhances the at home experience.
DOTM is the only one that was filmed in 3D and not imax. 1 had some scenes and 2 has these and 4 has its scenes on the 3d version and 5 has for every version available.
@Brave Brad Productions There is ANOTHER VERSION of this film Revenge of the Fallen. The actual theatrical version has the scene where devestators balls scene is in the middle of the devastation scene and not during the pyramid scene. Instead of Simmons saying he's below the scrotum, which is funny and I laugh at, the original scene which was taken and removed out of home media due to the insufferable backlash against the twins humor, has the twins looking up and the camera after they hide under devestators legs look up and see his clanging balls and comment on his size and laugh at them. This was met with uproarious boos and disgust in my theater and home media replaces in BOTH cuts with Simmons scene there.
@@BraveBladeProductions yeah no DOTM didn't have scenes shot on IMAX, and neither did the first. reason being I believe is that due to the IMAX 70mm that shot those scenes were of the highest quality possible and that meant ILM had to render their VFX in 4K, which is unheard of in blockbusters, or films in general. most VFX houses can only render visuals in 2K resolution (and is still the norm today), but with ROTF the visuals needed to have lots of detail for the 4K resolution, and the rendering melted/exploded several computers in the process. obviously it's no fault of the camera but this immense workload disheartened Bay and his team, hence why the rest of the movies were only shot in 2K intermediate to accommodate the VFX well
I can confirm the 3D blu ray of AOE does have the IMAX aspect ratio. Which definitely is nice, though has the switching issues of TLK (though less so), though being fair, most IMAX movies with few exceptions uses IMAX in the same exact way, including Nolan. Just typically its not literally every single shot. As well as it's obvious that the 1.9 IMAX (probably due to them using the digital IMAX 3d camera rig, unlike TLK which was shot probably around 80-90% native regardless of aspect ratio) was native 3d most of the time. And a good amount of the time the 2.39 is converted, though this is not a issue, as nearly all the 3d is really good (Though i would say TLK has better 3D, honestly if any movie would get the "better 3D than avatar" it would be TLK).
The IMAX version is the default way to see Revenge Of The Fallen in my opinion. The theatrical version is okay but the expaneded IMAX ratio really adds to the spectacle that the theatrical cut only barely provides
I was taken so aback when I got the 4k UHD 5-Film collection and TF2 DIDN'T have the IMAX scenes. Then I dug into the rabbit hole that is this special edition. I was able to get the special edition for $15 dollars usd. I think, I know i didnt spend a lot tho. I'm SO HAPPY I have it :)
@@BraveBladeProductions absolutely. As someone who saw some clips in IMAX and fell in love with my favorite movie scenes taking up my whole phone screen, with even more detail beyond the black bars, and knowing this could be enjoyed on a screen spanning several FEET, Ive kinda fell in love with IMAX. I just wish we could get those other two IMAX cuts so I could buy a huge tv and get that big screen experience proper. Or even better, IMAX re-screens movies like Dark of the Moon when it reaches its big anniversary. Hey, it could happen.
I want to purchase this for myself here in the UK. I have found it on eBay getting shipped from the US. But do u know if it would work for me or would I waste my time in terms of region and function on my blu ray player?
In my personal opinion every movie that was filmed in IMAX and released on 4K blu-ray should have their IMAX version on it as well, especially since in my opinion 4K blu-ray is like the "premium" version of physical media (or that's how I see 4K blu-ray), especially when 4K blu-ray releases can be pretty expensive (not always though) and whetever it's some extra or longer scenes or bigger aspect ratio's, it should be mandatory that IMAX versions of a movie (especially older movies) to be on 4K blu-rays too, like optional like with dvd and blu-ray re-releases of older movies where you have the option to watch the regular theatrical release or the director's cut like with the Alien movies on blu-ray.
Shame this isn't the actual IMAX version. What they released is just a Flat crop of the full IMAX frame. Visible in the 'Under The Gun' behind the scenes featurette you get a clean look at what the actual 1.43:1 IMAX version of these scenes look like, and it's far better than this. The difference between the two is nearly 25% of the total pixel count. Imagine the forrest fight and the Devastator sequence extending out the top of your TV by 25%. Full frame 15/70 imax is unreal, especially when viewed on a projector in person.
I don't know why you're referring to it as a "secret" cut since it was publicly available in theaters, and on disc, and isn't as different from the regular cut as you might think (aside from the expanded ratio)

I used to be really into transformers. The only steel book I have is Transformers: Dark of the Moon. I bought the first 4 on Blu-ray a few years ago, and I haven’t watched the films since. Its interesting how you talk about the IMAX addition of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I find it weird how movies are different in IMAX. I can understand scenes going on for a few more seconds, but in some movies, the IMAX version is completely different. I’ve never seen a movie in IMAX, so I don’t know if it is worth it. I believe that you said the IMAX cut of the first Transformers film is unavailable. Can you watch the scenes that are different on TH-cam in the IMAX ratio?
It's not common for IMAX versions of a film to have any differences from the Standard Version other than the changed aspect ratio. Revenge of the Fallen is a special case where slight edits to content were made for the IMAX version. Just so there's no confusion, here's a Brief Rundown for each Transformers Film's "IMAX" Version: Transformers (2007): Was re-released in IMAX after the original theatrical run with extended scenes. This "IMAX Cut" has never been seen or released outside of the original theatrical run. The only info we have on it is people's personal recollections of what they saw in the cinema. Revenge of the Fallen: This film's IMAX situation is the video's whole subject so I won't repeat myself. But you can easily find the IMAX Scenes on TH-cam by searching for them and the whole "IMAX Cut" is easily found online. Dark of The Moon: Had an IMAX release alongside it's normal theatrical run. The IMAX version is the exact same movie mastered and presented in IMAX. No IMAX footage of DOTM has ever been released. Age of Extinction: Had an IMAX release alongside it's normal theatrical run. The IMAX version is the exact same movie mastered and presented in IMAX. Strangely the 3D Blu Ray presents the film in IMAX for the scenes that have it, the Standard Blu Ray does not. You can find AOE's IMAX scenes on TH-cam. The Last Knight: Had an IMAX release alongside it's normal theatrical run. The IMAX version is the exact same movie mastered and presented in IMAX. Every home media release of TLK presents the film in it's original IMAX Ratios. (Yes ratios, TLK has 8 different aspect ratios that it shifts between during the film.) Bumblebee: Had an IMAX release alongside it's normal theatrical run. The IMAX version is the exact same movie mastered and presented in IMAX. No IMAX footage of Bumblebee has been released on home media. (However Bumblebee's Blu Ray aspect ratio, while not IMAX, does actually fill an entire TV screen when viewed.) Probably too much info, but it's a concise rundown for anyone's reading pleasure. I'm definitely interested in discussing the History of IMAX on Blu Ray in a future video, so make sure your subscribed for that one.
