Mine is very sturdy. No rattling at all. Full tang. Solid wood handle. Several brass pins. Even though its a budget bowie knife. Its hands down THE BEST from timber rattler.
HEY ! Your son did a GREAT JOB in filming this review & as for the review, i found it to be very informative. I mean your the only review that i have seen, where the knife is used to cut wood. Like i said before NO THEORY - JUST SHOW ME. And You Did. Thank You Very Much for the Showing. Lots of Prayers for this New Year.
My little boy filmed this video. He has allergies and the walk in the woods didn't agree with him. He did his best. I'm happy, with this video. Good job, kiddo'.
They also make a knife called the Scarab which has the dubious distinction of being one of the few folding knives longer than the Espada XL. It's a Buck 110 style folder with an 8 inch blade. Of course it's not a patch on the Espada, but then it's a sub $20 knife so you can't really compare the two.
Mine is one its way and your review confirmed a few things I over looked. I had one back in the 60's well at least a bowie and I used it in SC an it served its purpose
Joe .. I have one of these ...seems to be good steel.... mine is hella sharp...with a different really nice handle installed and give it a nice pretty braided custom sheath... it would be an outstanding knife.
I haven't had any rust issues yet. I don't oil my timber rattler. I just clean it after any use.and store it dry in the sheath & box it came in. I think the box has that little silica pack in it. maybe that helps.?
On Mike Milligan video page, he had an Amazing idea for the problem with that sheath. He uses Rivets all around the Sheath & to shorten that Belt Loop he uses those same rivets. Amazing Idea.
I have had one for more than 20 years an it has a true heavy leather sheath an is a nice pig sticker carry it when back country camping it's a nice dual purpose knife bug out bag tool works just great as a hatchet drilled a whole in the handle for lanyard and sheath for leg strap !
Thank You For This Review. I like this one & the Rambo Machete review that you did because you take the knifes out & show what they can do, especially this one. It's not theory with you, we get to see how these knives work. Even thought this knife is not a flat grind & it does not have to be, it still can cut wood like nothing else. In the old days that knife was worn inside the belt not hanging down, I would just take the belt loop off & save the knife from being scratched by those staples.
It looks like you brought your helper with you. Its a good thing to see kids that want to help out thses days. How has this knife held up over the last few years?
higgens smith - It has held up really well. I believe it's worth the money. The brass will turn green in spots when you store it. But it polishes up pretty good. It was a real Surprise! I fully expected it to be total crap but, it's O.K. ,... the sheath Isn't great though.
I also picked this up off budk. Hell of I knife but I would recommend another called the Kentucky Bowie knife. Also on budk $20 a bit smaller at 10 inches but feels better. Full tang. Sheath sucks but worth the money
They are good looking blades. The handle is pakawood and not wood. It is no 3 pounds. The blade is about a quarter inch thick. They are very tough knives.
Thanx. We had walked pretty far into the woods that day to film and the pollen was thick! Others who came with us we’re making a lot of background noise also.
@@JoeDoomsday In my country i bought it for 55 euro. And its every cent of that 55 euro worth.. Now it is 70 euro. This knife can beat some bowies of 75 euro or more. Good chopper and splitting blade,,,I would not want to be without a tough TR65 Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie at the price they are being sold for on Amazon and BudK ,,,✌nice knife Joe
DUDE. How do I get mine to chop like that? Is yours sharpened because I tried to chop some cheap wood from this staircase banister and it only went like 1/4 1/5 in (mine is right out of the box got it today
Barney Fife ,... LMAO! Yep it’s me! When I reviewed that knife years ago I never dreamed I’d be doing this many knife reviews. I didn’t plan on buying or reviewing another knife at that point. That’s why I called myself “Joe Doomsday” I was just being a goof and reviewing my new knife years later here I am. 😂
You’re doing a fine job man. I only sub to two other knife channels. I like reviewers who are not knife snobs. You give the same attention to entry level brands as you do the higher end stuff. A knife need to poke and cut without breaking. The rest is marketing and personal preference. You buy your own knives to review which I relate to as a consumer. We don’t get knives sent to us to hype. We have to spend our own money. It’s good to have another opinion to help us choose where we want to put our buck. I like the reviews on the Rough Rider a lot. That’s a decent company from a bang for your buck perspective.
You are most welcome. I know how frustrating trolls can be. I see you take a lot of pride in your work as do most TH-camrs who have been around a while. I don’t hand out complements offen, but the format, camera work, and quality of your videos are as good as any I see. And you come across as a cool guy just sharing a thought on a topic. Makes it easy to watch. I love that Rough Rider D Guard bowie. I was researching a budget bowie when I ran into your Timber Rattler video. I like big blades that are affordable because I’m just beginning to collect them recently. Rough Rider and Szco have some neat products.
Tandy leather has leather punches and screw Rivets. I often use Hot Glue. It works. It's cheap. This knife often gets carried in a back pack. A bit too large to wear comfortably. For this knife sheath, I would shrink the belt loop with GLUE.
No. Lol. I just tend to look around when I'm thinking what to say next. No script. Plus I kept hearing branches breaking near by. Worried it was a Bear or Big Foot! Lol!
There's actually two knives; The slightly smaller "Timber Rattler" and the "Western Outlaw". Both are awesome blades for the $30 to $40 you'll spend for them with shipping. They are made in Pakistan, and I believe they use scrap from all of the battles fought on their soil. The Western has a better sheath but neither of these compare to either the KA-Bar Bowie, or my personal survival favorite; the Ontario SP10 Marine Bowie, which is 27 ounces or pure survival tool. Nice inexpensive gift though.
Look at the sheath as just a means for shipping and get a River City Sheaths Southern Comfort or Panther Concealment Commodore. My husband and I each have one. Full tang badass fighter. Train with it. Sharpen the clip and radius the tip. The weight will add to the devastation of a back cut.
I would use this blade while hunting. It's not a great survival knife , better than a kitchen knife though. Ka-bar bk9 & cold steel bushman are quality survival knives. Ka-bar bk2 companion, is pretty good also.
is that knife any good in regards of build and edge retention ect,? i have the marbles bowie machete, a capable, fast knife i would recommend to anyone ,sending you love from the uk :)x

Eddie Maxtu ,... For the money, this is a great knife. Many people who carry a lot of gear find this knife to be “ Too heavy “. I like it more as a Camping knife rather than a Bushcraft knife. The Brass tarnishes and needs polishing. It’s a bit much to sharpen. It doesn’t rust very easy. (Stainless steel) it’s STRONG. - mine holds its edge pretty good. Ok sheath. - It’s a Fun Knife. - Worth every penny I paid & more. 👍🏻
I believe they are made in Pakistan. BudK $19.99, JFC this is worth it. This is a Tough Knife. $20 this is ridiculously worth it. And he said kind of sharp.. ISTG I shaved hair off the back on my hand right out of the box. Sheath is poor but will probably last a long time. I Say you need a good knife? Get this Cheap A** knife before they decide to stop making it or raise the price. for 20 bucks you cant afford not to buy this knife, its a cheap steel, but its a big enough piece of steel that its actually pretty tough and usable, very big heavy knife, not for little girls, i would liken it to what i imagine a roman short sword was like
I would purchase this knife! I think the way the full tang is done is very good. The way the handle is one piece on each side secured with brass pins is best. I own some knives I prefer over this knife. For the money - this knife is a great deal !!! If you R willing to spend more money, you can find better knives. (Ka-bar) (Esee) (custom) etc.
