  • Managing offline maps has become much more efficient than since the first video about offline maps:
    - A new database introduced
    - Ability to see which maps you have and what areas they cover
    - Support for OSM, Eniro and Statkart in addition to Mapbox
    - Mapbox significantly easier to set up, public token is all you need
    - Highly improved offline map solution, less maptiles to download needed
Please remember that Google Maps are not available offline. You CAN open the app with internet connected, then zoom in and out of the water you will visit using any Google Maps variant. And the Android device will indeed cache the map and make Google Maps available offline. But only for a while. And no-one seems to have figured out for how long. Because suddenly the cache gets deleted. And Google tells no-one how long the cache will last, and exactly when it will be deleted. And all of a sudden, the cache is gone. If you are out there on the bank side without being prepared then you are suddenly out of luck.
I make it a habit of downloading maps for waters I want to visit at home. The downloaded maps are then stored in a database. And come what may, I will always have the map ready for fishing and for making depth maps of the water in the evening in my bivvy.
Note to users that had maps already downloaded prior to the version 4.6.3 upgrade:
The old database was a relic. When upgrading to 4.6.3 it gets replaced by a much improved design and better abilities. Your old downloads are deleted in the process, so pleas download again!

Just downloaded some maps. Any idea if you can name the maps or are we stuck with the date of download as file name?

@@kennyvernieuwe6288 now just date. Adding an editable name us a good idea, not presently possible though. Future release for that.

Does this app work with Arducopter Autopilot GPS?

Ardurover only. Just flash the pixhawk with rover and you are good to go. See video about setting up the autopilot in the build bait boat series.

@@TheCarpPilot I heard on the forums that the application is compatible, but the posts on the forums are from several years ago. Could something have changed?
In my boat I have an APM arducopter operated from a remote control and I am looking for an application to operate the boat from a tablet. Tower Beta was used in the past and after problems with the application, some people switched to carppilot and wrote that the application is more efficient. Is there a possibility that the app is unknowingly still compatible?

@@Myskiii the remake from Tower was the app "Carp pilot" that got discontinued years back. The Carp Pilot app is a totally different app, you cannot compare anything (really, nothing is the same). And it is Rover only. And there is only one relevant forum, found in the Facebook private user group for Carp Pilot Pro users. I can guarantee you that copter firmware is useless in the Carp Pilot Pro app. It also does not belong in a boat, a boat is a rover. If you ever consider to use Carp Pilot Pro you must first install the rover firmware on your pixhawk. If not the Carp Pilot Pro is not for you.
