Holy smokes I'm astonished and extremely happy to see that Parius Vinyl in the back!! I've got both their LP's in my shelf and I believe they sound better than Haken or Periphery have in years! :P Super excited whenever I see Parius stuff anywhere.
For me is difficult, mainly due to the vocals, that by all means are good. However, to my taste feels too much like teenager emo of something. I can't listen and not feel cringe. A taste thing, nothing relate to quality. Probably because I like singers inlered more by Dio or Dickinson. Russel Allen being one of my favourite for instance. The title of the album three me off a bit as well. I'm used to conceptual álbuns that we feel emerged on the history (DT's scenes from a memory or Angra's Temple of Shadows for instance), and this title brings me back to the real world. I'm glad that this band exists and keep renovating heavy metal though.
They didn't go with my suggestion: "Periphery V: This Is Actually Periphery VII" I definitely enjoy this but they're never going to match up to P2 in my books.
I can best describe this album with the Squidward lawn chair meme. First 3 songs have me interested but then I pick up the chair to the rest of the album.
The gripe I have with most Periphery releases is that some time into the album it all starts to kinda sound exhaustingly similar. Here on the other hand we have some stylistic variety: some bangers at the beginning, then a more mellow almost polyphiaesque side to it, then Zagreus to bring back the vibe and then some epics for the closer. Definitely liked it a lot, must now listen to it more beside pumping at the gym cause otherwise it becomes my gym album for good 😂
The guitar lead on Thanks Nubuo is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, makes me cry!
This was neck and neck with Haken for my number 1 for 2023 for a while, before it ended up overtaking.

If u haven't heard the first album you're really missing out...they haven't reached the proggy heights of their debut.
