Telling people that St Bernards is a breed for busy people is bullshit. St Bernards are a working dog from the Western Alps in Italy and Switzerland
My Gran loved them. I had to walk her dogs 10 miles a day. They're not low energy, they're big old plodders. I'd walk him 5 miles in the morning, then another 5 miles in the afternoon.

I have a big sliding glass door that leads to the backyard. When my 2nd mastiff was young, she decided to run outside while playing with her brother. She went straight through the door. The tempered glass was shattered, the frame was at a 45 degree angle, and the rails were ripped out of the concrete. The repairman asked what caused it out of curiosity. I told him the truth, but he didn't accept it. He didn't believe a dog could cause that much damage. So I called her over, and 170 pounds of love, wrinkles, and muscle came flying down the hallway. He didn't question me after that. Her brother broke a screen door. And before he passed, my bullmastiff broke 3 screen doors. I'm getting conventional doors when I remodel

Bullmastiff is half the size of English Mastiff, calmest most affectionate lovable dog. But if you have any expectations of it ever doing anything you want it to do you better have the infinite patience. My Bullmastiff complained to the cat "I have had him at Obedience School for more than a year and he hasn't even learnt Sit-Stay yet".

English Bulldogs are such sweeties and handle well with kids and other animals. My cousin on mom side had one of them, and he was such a sweetie. He loved being around us and being played and cuddle... mostly cuddled and petted. Such a pity they have so many health issues.

One mastiff is sometimes active, but they give out tough love. There's no fun if there's no risk of injury. So I got a second mastiff. They've become brother and sister. When not taking up the entire sofa, they can be seen sleeping in my flowerbed, eating the cat food, drooling everywhere that isn't carpet, even sometimes playing. I wouldn't trade them for the world. They're my new children

I Slightly regret my decision to go for a Puppy but he’s honestly perfect. He’s starting to learn Inside is for quiet playing. That the cats don’t wanna play and that outside is for exercise and adventure.
Five months in and we’re getting there!

@@WildieHere Ha ha ha.... yeah.. they are truly a piece af work - or should i say ART!! I have owned and trained GSDs since 1989 but when i got my dutchie " Cherokee" 2 years ago i was in for a surprise... Lol!!! There is only about 30-35 of them in Norway so there were not many to ask... and the 2 i met before i decided whatto choose were really nice.. THEN the first litter in 5 years were born here.. and that litter was a VERY difficult one.. all of us uppy buyers has had some hefty challenges. even the ones having a duthie allready.. one even gave up and returned her girl tback to teh breeder after 18 months.. .. but BOY do i love that crazy girl... If i can get her to work the way i want ( getting there but not as fast as i wanted) i can train anything!!! and will open a training fasility for chupacabras....ha ha.... and yes - Dutchies for life!!!

@@WildieHere They are awesome crazy - but also extremely empathic, very very sensitive and almost psychic. I always belived they were badass all the way.. and they are if you treat them right.. but if you handle them to harsh you will break them an get a very agressive dog... so they are the most difficult breed i have ever met./owned. .. but when you get them and understand how they work you will have a woderul relationship... mine is so intutive it scares me sometimes... i have PTSD but never tought about using the dog to help me.. but she took the job all by herself from just weeks in when she was a little puppy.. she decided to wake me up when i started to have the nightmares . i strart screaming like i am being tortured nd she figured out how to stop the nightmares to go to far and stop it as soon as i started to wimper or move around.. - and after gently waking me up by nudging me carefully she always either lay her head on my chin/cheek / forhead or curl her body around my head and breath in my ear.. That eases the trauma and makes me fall asleep again. So they are magic :)

Well I heard that the st Bernard has alot of energy in the first years, needs a huge garden, etc? But I'm not sure. I thought that they needed alot of attention and excercise the first years , and then they calm ALOT down
