The Infinity, even without forerunner technology is better than the Galactica because while the Galactica is durable and did indeed serve as the hope for humanity, that wasn't what it originally was built for. Yes it could sustain itself for long periods of time, but it wasn't built to carry the entirety of humanities hopes, the show references this as she was rushed into service, cutting corners and such. Infinity on the other hand is what the Galactica was forced to become, almost entirely self-sustaining, capable of dealing decisive blows and getting the hell out. Again, this is not counting the forerunner tech later added to the design as it was built. She was made to do what Galactica was forced to do. In that aspect I believe the Infinity does win.
Just finished rewatching it myself. It really is insane how much damage the bsg soaks up over the coarse of the show. Youd be hard pressed to find a ship with more plot armor, not counting the Millennium Falcon.
Ya, it's almost a joke on plot Armour when you consider that Galactica had most of its Armour and guns stripped. The original Jupiter class had 50 of those dual guns on the top and bottom and layered Armour.

God I love the Infinity so much. It looks phenomenal, it's name is amazing, and every time we see it for the first time in a piece of contentt it just looks awe inspiring, especially the very first time we got to see it on screen dwarfing the frigates we were so used to seeing during the final days of the human-covenant war
The problem with the UNSC Infinity is that its an unstoppable ship. When the thing enters battle it removes all tension from the scene because its so good.
Raddus was a retired cruiser from the Republic. Judging from the other ships the Resistance has, they make the Rebellion look well-equipped. As a retired ship, most of the defenses, including extra protection and point defense, were probably removed and used on the ships that supposedly Starkiller destroyed in one shot. Offensive weapons were almost certainly taken out, first, probably entirely. What few weapons that were on it were probably installed by Resistance personnel.
Ok so Snoke's fleet and the republic defense fleet hmm that's what maybe a hundred ships and I'm not going to try to count how many targets I mean fighters they deploy at a time. Vs UNSC home fleet with over 100 ships and 300 ODP's and the 60 to 341 ships of the Fleet of Particular Justice which was the fleet that attacked Reach and fought the battle of instillation 04 aka halo , the first one. Yeah that sounds like a great match up that would last all of 5 seconds as Snoke's fleet and the Republic defense fleet are vaporized in a hail of plasma fire and depleted Uranium shells. Seriously a single ODP super mac can put a round clean through two 29km capital ships and severely damage a third.
I have to wonder if, when the Dawn of Tranquility was transferred to the Resistance and became the Raddus, it wasn't disarmed beforehand and what was the weapons loadout that we see in the movie was all that they could scrounge up.
You need to read the Honor Harrington series the CLAC carriers with their LAC’s are amazing but if you want pure destruction the SD/P the super dreadnought / pod use missile pods that use an FTL link for long range accuracy
Space Battleship Yamato/Argo will always be the best capital ship. Risen from the wreck of the old WWII battleship Yamato,she saved the human race on multiple ocasions. Then, in a last attempt to save the Earth her crew load her full of H3 and explode her to save those on Earth one last time. The most badass ship. With the most badass crew. If you havent heard of the franchise I encourage you to go check it out.
I would like to see here the Lantean Aurora Class warships from Stargate Atlantis but even on the serie there's no enough information about it, except for the fact that has energy shields and an arsenal of drones.
The infinity was a poor choice as it is so powerful in weapons,shields,secondary ships,etc....that it is definitely more akin to a super star destroyer. One of the battle ship or dreadnaught classes would have been better.
Very interesting comparison. I'd also be interested to see how the Finalizer fits into this list considering how that was a far superior ship to the Imperial II class.
It makes sense that the Imperial II woul be near the bottom, the empire made them for mass production and it therefore inherited the problems of its predesessor from being rushed.
Two years late and I know it may not be the most deadly when compared to others, but a CSO class supercarrier is literally 18 miles long and has 7 energy projectors (glassing beams). That has to count for something.
Two shots from a glassing beam can go thru the infinity easily, the issue is the charging time and that the ship needs to deactivate the shield and other weapons before using it. Thats the reason they mostly use those for glassing and not for combat. Also those beams have really short range and arent guided.
It’s scary to think in the forerunner classification the Infinity is a destroyer not a super carrier does that mean the strident class frigate could just be considered a gunship?
In BSG pre cylon invasion the colonies had a massive fleet , they cylons would not have beat them without hacking their networks... Orginally there was only 12 batttle stars, but by the second cylon wqs there were many more, also the colonies had all kinds of other class warships
Shame you didn't use the Galactica model from the miniseries/film Battlestar Galactica : blood and chrome it's looks absolutely beastly it has almost twice as many main batteries
The Infinity is more in line with something like the Supremacy super star destroyer....or maybe the Battlestar Pegasus as something capable of manufacturing and training. A real Noah's Ark in space as a fall back for humanity. It would have been great to see an alternate Halo storyline where the Infinity has to flee to save some remnant of humanity- possibly to find the remaining Forerunners outside the Galaxy.

The infinity is more of a dreadnaught / super carrier not a mass produced ship of the line its better compared to the supremecy as its in a Different league above capital ships like the star destroyer and Mon cal cruiser also the pegasus might have been a better choice of battle star
The Infinity was supposed to be mass produced post war but they lost to many shipyards and outposts and planets to mass produce so instead they were making another but used it's parts to upgrade the Infinity.
Yeah, as of now they only have the UNSC Infinity as a fully functional ship, and it's sister ship the UNSC Eternity which is only partially functional. It is planned to be a superior to the CSO Supercarrier in every way.
Clearly you don’t realize what a Capital ship is. It’s the strongest ship in the fleet and is normally where the Admiral or fleet commander gives his orders from. In most cases it is not a massively produced ship. See the IJN Yamato during WW2, the KGM Bismarck and it’s sister ship the KGM Tirpitz, HMS Hood. The only capital ship that was mass produced even remotely was the Iowa class with 4 and 2 more in production. My point is, capital ships are only ever 1 or 2 vessels of that type.
They are still building its sister the UNSC Eternity . Its just going to take more time. Because they used those modules to upgrade and repair the Infinity rather than having two super carriers down one of which being the Flag ship of the UNSC Navy. So yeah they redirected parts to keep the Infinity operational. And ordered more parts be built .
I would not have put the UNSC Infinity in a comparison with standard capital ships as I'd consider it in the realm of super capital ships due to it's capabilities far exceeding that of any standard capital ship. A fairer comparison would be to use a Halcyon class or a Marathon class as those are more in tune with standard capital ship capabilities.
Might have been a bit more interesting to include the original Galactica instead of the much lower tech and plot driven weaknesses in the new series. Much as the Raddus had story driven limitations, the new series Galactica does as well. The old series Galactica does not have the issue, in fact, it is stated in the novella that she is the pinnacle of Colonial technology at the time of the series.
I don't think it matters the CAS assault carriers main weapon can cut clean through a ships at a hundred thousand kilometers bisecting it from stem to stern in one shot. Assault carriers possess multiple energy projectors on its ventral and dorsal surfaces . In addition it has multiple pulse laser turrets, which are used for intercepting enemy missiles and fighters, and plasma torpedoes for engaging in ship-to-ship combat and assaulting planetary defenses. Basically its going to one shot each of the Star destroyers regardless form well beyond their weapons range.
CAS wins in minutes. Like a single volley from the energy projectors would destroy all three ships. The plasma based weaponry would just tear through the Star destroyers, not to mention the CAS could micro jump behind them or literally just jump directly beside them and open the slipspace portal a bit larger and tear the Star destroyers in half
The UNSC Infinity is basically designed to go through what the Galactica had to go through. The Galactica survived it all without even needing to have its entire existence to be planned around being humanity's arc. It was just another obsolete battleship
The MC-85 is one of my favorite ship designs and I agree that politics basically crippled its amazing potential. I feel it has the capability of being even stronger than the Resurgent SD. But I will say that the way Leia used the ship's shields to protect the fleet for as long as it could was smart.
@EckhartsLadder I would love to see a "series" where you take capital ships, super cap. and super weapons from different universes and combat them against each other. The difference between this and other series is you would decide or put to a vote the specific types of ships (for example eclipse vs deathstar) but you would decide the numbers on each side in order to balance the battles. For instance you made a video which pinned 100 super star destroyers against the death star and the star destroyers won. I like the idea of scaling super weapons from various universes against well known and already powerful ships. I also recently watch the video you made which pinned 4 capital ships against each other with the Infinity coming out on top. You briefly mentioned how ridiculously strong that ship is which made me wonder how it would fair against a super weapon such as the death star and or how many UNSC Infinity's would it take to level the playing field. Sorry this is so long and i apologize in advance for blowing you up with this message in most of the content ill be watching...

Imperator 2 = destroyer (ship killer/escort/assault ship) Galactica = dreadnought (Capital ship) Infinity = dreadnought (Capital ship). If you had used a dreadnought from star wars like the Executor class, it would not be fair at all.
I wish you had chosen the home one instead of the raddus. Despite being significantly smaller, akbar's flagship was far better armed and overall just a better ship.

While the Infinity is a capital ship, I think that doesn't fit here. The battlestar and the ISD are common capital ships, the mainstay of their fleets. We don't really know about the MC85 but the Infinity doesn't belong to the same category as the other two. I would have choose a UNSC cruiser (Autumn or Marathon class) or a UNSC carrier (Punic or Epoch, for example). The Infinity is more along the lines of the imperial Executor or the separatist Malevolence.
Yeah the infinity really didn't belong on the list. It was built using a bunch of alien tech, and was a one-of-a-kind supership, as opposed to mass produced capital ships utilizing conventional tech.
Idk much about Halo but it sounds to me the Infinity is very technologically dependent making it very susceptible to the Cylon viruses if it were in the universe, which is why the Galactica survived in the first place; because it had dated technology. All of the other more advanced Battlestars perished because they were too technologically dependent and were easily taken out by a mere virus. They sound just like what the Infinity sounds like. Also the Galactica could take a pounding, had tons of weapons, ftl drive and could launch a crap load of Vipers and Raptors. Gotta put the Galactica #1 imo.
The thing that bugs me most about star wars ships and pretty much any sci-fi ship save Covenent vessels is that the bridges are always exposed to enemy fire. We see how this is a poor choice twice in SW when the Raddus's bridge is blown up and when the Executor is disabled. Why can't they be buried inside the structute of the ship where they're safe from attack? It's obviously a high value target so it makes no sense to have it placed where a single fighter can destroy it and cripple the entire ship.
The Infinity loses to the Galactica for number one for me because it feels like they may have handwaved all the capability into it. The escorts it launches seem large compared to it as they launch meaning there are huge empty spaces inside for the ship. A huge powerplant, a huge array of weapons and reloads and room to be an ark all in one. In a ship that looks too small to actually pull all of that off. Galactica does a bit less but shows it Can do the jobs laid out for her. She has limits for trying to do everything at once. And it shows. Which I think makes her realistically better.
I don't understand why in this day and age where science fiction is never been more popular where star wars and the MCU and the DCEU amongst other movies are making billions @ the box office and even sci-fi in television is doing extremely well why we still don't have a Halo live action movie yet.
Would you ever consider including anything from the various Gundam universes in a scifi factions compared video? Though nearly, if not all of Gundam is limited to a stellar rather than galactic scale, i feel there is much interesting potential for this series or a more straightforward versus matchup.

The Infinity is far more of a flagship than a capital ship! If we wanted a fair comparison, you should've used something like the Executor Super Star Destroyer, or possibly the Eclipse class. Like what the other comments here sympathize, the Infinity is more of a match for the Death Star!

The Infinity is an odd ship to compare to the others. The rest are ostensibly line ships, the Infinity was a flagship. One of the UNSC cruisers would have been a better comparison. but I suppose the name recognition was a factor in the choices...
I feel like this is a bit of a missmatch lol the Infinity is more of a super-dreadnought in its home continuity, the best of the best and one of a kind, whereas things like ISDs, MonCal capital ships and even Battlestars were more of the main-line combat warship of their faction... idk if the UNSC has an equivalent to that style of bulky battlecruiser below their ultra-elite "god-ship"

I think putting the Infinity into the comparision is unfair because its not a capital ship like the others. The Infinity, probably the only good thing about the new Halo games, is more of a commando ship. Very high quality, very expansive and unique. While the Battlestar and the ISD II are ships of the line. Used in greater numbers for all day duty. The MC-85 is sadly also a bad pick. If I remember correct it was also only ever produced once.
@EckhartsLadder, Two questions. Firstly how come you have almost no videos with Warhammer40k ships? (I'm aware there are a couple and you admitted you don't know much about the universe). Second, how is it that in Star Wars the First Order was able to build entire fleets (if Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is to be believed they have enough to retake the entire galaxy back), so how were they able to make so many new ships and with up-to-date weaponry and tech compared to the New Republic/Rebels who STILL keep using old and outdated tech and ships?

The nukes in BSG were tactical level at most, maybe a few hundred kilotons each. Shiva nukes are 55 megatons each, massive difference.

The infinity is more of a dreadnaught / super carrier not a mass produced ship of the line its better compared to the supremecy as its in a Different league above capital ships like the star destroyer and Mon cal cruiser also the pegasus might have been a better choice of battle star

The Infinity was supposed to be mass produced post war but they lost to many shipyards and outposts and planets to mass produce so instead they were making another but used it's parts to upgrade the Infinity.
Yeah, as of now they only have the UNSC Infinity as a fully functional ship, and it's sister ship the UNSC Eternity which is only partially functional. It is planned to be a superior to the CSO Supercarrier in every way.
Clearly you don’t realize what a Capital ship is. It’s the strongest ship in the fleet and is normally where the Admiral or fleet commander gives his orders from. In most cases it is not a massively produced ship. See the IJN Yamato during WW2, the KGM Bismarck and it’s sister ship the KGM Tirpitz, HMS Hood. The only capital ship that was mass produced even remotely was the Iowa class with 4 and 2 more in production. My point is, capital ships are only ever 1 or 2 vessels of that type.
They are still building its sister the UNSC Eternity . Its just going to take more time. Because they used those modules to upgrade and repair the Infinity rather than having two super carriers down one of which being the Flag ship of the UNSC Navy. So yeah they redirected parts to keep the Infinity operational. And ordered more parts be built .
I would not have put the UNSC Infinity in a comparison with standard capital ships as I'd consider it in the realm of super capital ships due to it's capabilities far exceeding that of any standard capital ship. A fairer comparison would be to use a Halcyon class or a Marathon class as those are more in tune with standard capital ship capabilities.
Might have been a bit more interesting to include the original Galactica instead of the much lower tech and plot driven weaknesses in the new series. Much as the Raddus had story driven limitations, the new series Galactica does as well. The old series Galactica does not have the issue, in fact, it is stated in the novella that she is the pinnacle of Colonial technology at the time of the series.

I don't think it matters the CAS assault carriers main weapon can cut clean through a ships at a hundred thousand kilometers bisecting it from stem to stern in one shot. Assault carriers possess multiple energy projectors on its ventral and dorsal surfaces . In addition it has multiple pulse laser turrets, which are used for intercepting enemy missiles and fighters, and plasma torpedoes for engaging in ship-to-ship combat and assaulting planetary defenses. Basically its going to one shot each of the Star destroyers regardless form well beyond their weapons range.
CAS wins in minutes. Like a single volley from the energy projectors would destroy all three ships. The plasma based weaponry would just tear through the Star destroyers, not to mention the CAS could micro jump behind them or literally just jump directly beside them and open the slipspace portal a bit larger and tear the Star destroyers in half
Much closer battle for first place if you include the Pegasus.
The UNSC Infinity is basically designed to go through what the Galactica had to go through. The Galactica survived it all without even needing to have its entire existence to be planned around being humanity's arc. It was just another obsolete battleship

The MC-85 is one of my favorite ship designs and I agree that politics basically crippled its amazing potential. I feel it has the capability of being even stronger than the Resurgent SD.
But I will say that the way Leia used the ship's shields to protect the fleet for as long as it could was smart.

@EckhartsLadder I would love to see a "series" where you take capital ships, super cap. and super weapons from different universes and combat them against each other. The difference between this and other series is you would decide or put to a vote the specific types of ships (for example eclipse vs deathstar) but you would decide the numbers on each side in order to balance the battles. For instance you made a video which pinned 100 super star destroyers against the death star and the star destroyers won. I like the idea of scaling super weapons from various universes against well known and already powerful ships. I also recently watch the video you made which pinned 4 capital ships against each other with the Infinity coming out on top. You briefly mentioned how ridiculously strong that ship is which made me wonder how it would fair against a super weapon such as the death star and or how many UNSC Infinity's would it take to level the playing field. Sorry this is so long and i apologize in advance for blowing you up with this message in most of the content ill be watching...

Imperator 2 = destroyer (ship killer/escort/assault ship) Galactica = dreadnought (Capital ship) Infinity = dreadnought (Capital ship). If you had used a dreadnought from star wars like the Executor class, it would not be fair at all.
I wish you had chosen the home one instead of the raddus. Despite being significantly smaller, akbar's flagship was far better armed and overall just a better ship.
The Raddus was modified to be used with less people. Maybe that's why it has "no" weapons

While the Infinity is a capital ship, I think that doesn't fit here. The battlestar and the ISD are common capital ships, the mainstay of their fleets. We don't really know about the MC85 but the Infinity doesn't belong to the same category as the other two. I would have choose a UNSC cruiser (Autumn or Marathon class) or a UNSC carrier (Punic or Epoch, for example). The Infinity is more along the lines of the imperial Executor or the separatist Malevolence.

Yeah the infinity really didn't belong on the list. It was built using a bunch of alien tech, and was a one-of-a-kind supership, as opposed to mass produced capital ships utilizing conventional tech.

Idk much about Halo but it sounds to me the Infinity is very technologically dependent making it very susceptible to the Cylon viruses if it were in the universe, which is why the Galactica survived in the first place; because it had dated technology. All of the other more advanced Battlestars perished because they were too technologically dependent and were easily taken out by a mere virus. They sound just like what the Infinity sounds like. Also the Galactica could take a pounding, had tons of weapons, ftl drive and could launch a crap load of Vipers and Raptors. Gotta put the Galactica #1 imo.
The thing that bugs me most about star wars ships and pretty much any sci-fi ship save Covenent vessels is that the bridges are always exposed to enemy fire. We see how this is a poor choice twice in SW when the Raddus's bridge is blown up and when the Executor is disabled. Why can't they be buried inside the structute of the ship where they're safe from attack? It's obviously a high value target so it makes no sense to have it placed where a single fighter can destroy it and cripple the entire ship.
I love Galactica with all my heart. That being said, I think this list is solid. Infinity is hard to beat.

The Infinity loses to the Galactica for number one for me because it feels like they may have handwaved all the capability into it. The escorts it launches seem large compared to it as they launch meaning there are huge empty spaces inside for the ship. A huge powerplant, a huge array of weapons and reloads and room to be an ark all in one. In a ship that looks too small to actually pull all of that off. Galactica does a bit less but shows it Can do the jobs laid out for her. She has limits for trying to do everything at once. And it shows. Which I think makes her realistically better.

Though nearly, if not all of Gundam is limited to a stellar rather than galactic scale, i feel there is much interesting potential for this series or a more straightforward versus matchup.

The Infinity is far more of a flagship than a capital ship! If we wanted a fair comparison, you should've used something like the Executor Super Star Destroyer, or possibly the Eclipse class. Like what the other comments here sympathize, the Infinity is more of a match for the Death Star!

The Infinity is an odd ship to compare to the others. The rest are ostensibly line ships, the Infinity was a flagship. One of the UNSC cruisers would have been a better comparison. but I suppose the name recognition was a factor in the choices...
I feel like this is a bit of a missmatch lol the Infinity is more of a super-dreadnought in its home continuity, the best of the best and one of a kind, whereas things like ISDs, MonCal capital ships and even Battlestars were more of the main-line combat warship of their faction... idk if the UNSC has an equivalent to that style of bulky battlecruiser below their ultra-elite "god-ship"

I think putting the Infinity into the comparision is unfair because its not a capital ship like the others. The Infinity, probably the only good thing about the new Halo games, is more of a commando ship. Very high quality, very expansive and unique. While the Battlestar and the ISD II are ships of the line. Used in greater numbers for all day duty.
The MC-85 is sadly also a bad pick. If I remember correct it was also only ever produced once.
@EckhartsLadder, Two questions. Firstly how come you have almost no videos with Warhammer40k ships? (I'm aware there are a couple and you admitted you don't know much about the universe). Second, how is it that in Star Wars the First Order was able to build entire fleets (if Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is to be believed they have enough to retake the entire galaxy back), so how were they able to make so many new ships and with up-to-date weaponry and tech compared to the New Republic/Rebels who STILL keep using old and outdated tech and ships?
