the stuff about shillelagh is all true, it was one of the first things i looked up in the new rules since i loved using it for my nature clerics, now Ican add the spell to other characters that would hugely benefit from it, like trickster clerics for example, or even warlocks
gr8 thing about sorcerous burst is that as it scales, all u need is one D8 to get another, so at level 5, 2d8 means u have 2 chances to hit d8, level 11 u have 3 chances from 3d8, kinda insane
“Uhm… well, actually…” had me cracking up. I’m a player, guidance is fine, but the problem is we played using discord for video chat. And a cleric interrupting someone to say “guidance” would cut off the mic of the person trying to describe what they wanted. So it was definitely a bit of a bother.
chill touch makes more sense and touch damage was sorely needed for things like familiars, shocking grasp and inflict wounds were bout the only options. think they should do a poison and acid one for the same reason, and cause they sorely need a use case with all the resistance against them.
man... its like they make the rules for a game they done play... most of the useful cantripz were made completely unwantable and the others made so OP that nobody will choose the nerf toys.
You have presented shillelagh and true Strike incorrectly…they are both MAGIC ACTIONS in the 2024 edition…so you can’t mix and match with your ACTION, you have to choose one or the other. So, if you have multiple attacks per round you can’t sneak in a magic action as one of those attacks. Therefore if you have multiple attacks neither shillelagh or true strike are good choices…but wizards, sorcerers, and druids would be an excellent choice. Warlocks get access to pact magic at 1st level and gives access to better weapons like the great sword at 1st level so they can scale with fighters pretty much…you don’t have to be a hex blade to get pact of the blade in 2024, in fact hex blade is dust in the wind.
Those are the base rules, but Warrior Mage options like the Eldritch Knight have features that do allow you to do what we mentioned in the video. At level 7, the Eldritch Knight has a feature called War Magic that reads like this... "When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of the attacks with a casting of one of your Wizard cantrips that has a casting time of an action." That's what allows you to break those rules. Remember, specific beats general.

Thanks so much for having me as a guest! Always a blast chatting about the game with you!

starry wisp reminds me of the radiating orb mechanic from bg3 lol
chill touch originally also gave undead disadvantage on attack rolls, seems like a massive nerf
