You can remove 8 to 10 Inches, use 10 to 12 inches if you are using a stretchy fabric 8 inches is fine, 3 for front and 5 inches for the back. On fold for the front, remove 1.5 inches when you open it up it will give you 3 inches On fold for the back, remove 2.5 inches when you open it up it will give you 5 inches
