@@nilsrosenow6367 lol trust me, when you listen to a pair of real Hifi speakers like i have at home, you will never want these cheap plastic pioneer speakers again :)
My only request DON'T ruin those nice Pioneers! If they sound a bit off the crossover probably needs new caps, the piezo on them do work well but if the capacitors are all dried up it won't play as high of frequency's. Also just like any piezo element give them a fair bit of power to hear them. The set you have is a mid range quality studio monitors. I'd hate to see them get torn apart. If the woofers are a bit scratchy, turn them so the top of the drivers are down and re-install them, they tend to droop over time until the vc makes contact with the magnet.
Travis Piper Wow, thanks for the information. I actually did not know that they could droop over time. I picked up a nice pair of tower speakers not too long ago and was disappointed because one of the drivers were scratchy. But this comment may have just saved them from being tossed.
Yah the rubber/ foam surrounds can warp over time, usually 20 years or so. Happened to my pair of Optimus Pro 4,000's, the 15" drivers were scratching a bit but when I moved them around it went away.
Bigger magnet doesn't always mean it performs better, for the 1970's these are pretty powerful drivers. They rely on cone area and a large enclosure. He could upgrade them if he wanted to, just wouldn't look the same though.
Those pioneer speakers are most likely from the 80s and are probably cheap judging by the piezo and the plastic trimming. Some pioneer models are rare and collectible, but I’m not sure about this one.
the easttech are kinda good ... i had the audio sistem from where those speakers came or sth kinda same .... theyvare good ... nowci gotva hts 3100 sub from easttech that s 50w and hit 21 hz
Haha I would not say incredible, but yeah they have made some good consumer speakers over the years. Back in the 80's Technics was making some real nice 3 ways with a 15 inch woofer. I owned a pair and i liked them a lot.
The DOSS speaker looks like those from White Van Speaker Scams, but with no fake woofer and rocks or sand bags inside. Nice video! I also really liked your Passat's exhaust sound!
the dose screw thing is for a wall mount bracket. Bose did that too. Three way is a woofer - midrange - tweeter. The Dose-Bose was a satellite speaker, it needed to be used with a sub-woofer.
Eastech made quite a lot of the woofers for Philips speakers. I have 2 pairs of the FWB-MC90 and the woofers are made by Eastech, crazy amounts of bass and excursion. Seems like the quality varied quite a bit though.
Hey that pioneer you got isnt too bad. Your local thrift store also has a million more speakers than ANY store in my town would. I need to come visit that place😂😂 Edit: after seeing the inside of that pioneer i agree its made cheap. I used to have the same exact one just about but the quality was much better.
The woofer surrounds on the center channel speaker are foam not rubber. Tweeter looks like a cheap plastic cone model. The Pioneer is a three way design. Tweeter, midrange and woofer. Not a midrange tweeter. Japan did make great stuff, but cheap as well ( kinda like China now).
In that shop there was a pair of jvc speakers, I have a pair. Unbelievable sound quality, and there are three drivers, I highly recommend that you pick them up and open them, your jaw will hit the floor when you see the woofer they have inside😂 btw it's the one that is rounded at the front and has a grey fabric and a silver plastic on the front. Please do, you will be so happy you did. They sound better than my bose soundinks!😁 thank you.
Those pioneer speakers look identical to the ones I have. Do they say s-z83d on them? Mine came off a 90's ish looking black plastic stereo I found in the ewaste at the tip. I basically kept the speakers cause they sounded really pleasing to my ears. I can't recall the other set of speakers I had at the time but I a/b'd them and the pioneers blew them out of the park. I also kept the servo turn table and rewired it with a 12v power supply off a modem or something it just plugs to wall now. The remainder of the original unit was this big piece that had the amp, tuner, cd player and double tape deck combined into the one thing. I gave that away. One thing to note though with the pioneer speakers well my ones anyway they are 6 ohm speakers not 8 so if you use a + b speaker feature on your amp you might be heading into the danger zone depending on your amp.
Alot of brands used Eastech. Generally they are stiff with alot of mechanical noise but they have a few decent drivers. So they are decent but not great IMO
I would recommend getting a speaker selector box that allows 2 lines in (R/L) and then 4 outputs (8 speakers out) or if you can get a pair of speakers that have a removable speaker jack plate , solder them together then you'll have a quicker way to hook them up to that amp you have.
I'd like to hear the pioneer boxes with upgraded speaker's. Upgraded with Dayton subwoofer and other components from Parts Express . Just curious. Dayton's are very good, affordable replacements.
Please could you buy an “intempo tailgate speaker it is very interesting to open up as I did today there is a very strange 8” speaker that is a dual coil which is wired very strangely and does not look replaced it would be cool if you could check this out x
You inspired me to pull out this old samsung system out of my closet to take apart. The only impressive thing I found was the huge magnet on the back of the subwoofer. Otherwise the rest of the speakers are pretty cheap
The resistors are probably impedence equalization they probably came from the factory like that considering there were connectors used and not some makeshift solution
Im making diy project to make 2 awesome speakers from other components! Please answer the other comment Also what speaker can be used for midrange? I have 130w tweeter and 100w woofer.
You would be surprised that the Bose are not much better, in fact they are actually glued and clipped together. I was able to get mine apart though. Bigger coil and magnet, but PLASTIC BASKET! The subwoofer is good though.
Build a Box, Get a 4way Crossover, Use the Woofs from the Pion's for the Bass, The Blue and Center Chans Drivers as Mid-Bass's, The Doss's as Mids, And the Pion's Mids as Tweeters. Port the Box and put Padding in it. Would love to hear how they sound at a decent volume. Not going for Max just a good level, say 2/3 volume.
I don’t understand why would anyone dislike his videos so stupid I can’t stand people like that but keep ur head up bro ur the best keep them videos coming here have a good day my brotha
It would be really cool if you get a cooler or I believe you guys called them cool boxes and make a Bluetooth speaker cooler using one of those sets of sub will for drivers and then some tweeters I’ve done Loads of cooler builds before I’ve managed to get the speaker wire to run in between the Styrofoam in the cooler and I’m out the Bluetooth board any waterproof casing that way when you open up the cooler all you see is the Bluetooth were you not see any speaker wires It makes the speaker look clean neat and sound quality are usually get out of my cooler bills are amazing
My dad used to have those exact Pioneers (2 way minus the piezo version) speakers when I was growing up in the early 90s!.. Looking at them for me screams NOSTALGIA and childhood memories aha !. Unfortunately the amplifier stopped working and the whole thing got left behind when we moved in 2003 :/. Since then iv never seen one of those again until this video!, I know there on the cheap side and I got bigger and better toys to play with but id love to own the whole Pioneer set again just for center mental value even still got the remote from are one to use!. There probably not worth a lot now but look after them!, there's not many about.. I'm thinking a retro style boombox with these would be dam epic if your looking to do something different with them! :)
With pioneer floor speakers, rip a youtube video of a pioneer speaker commercial, get the audio track and re-edit it with a lot of bass and make a video blowing up of the drivers in smoke. You could do this for every brand, showing the cheap components inside and then popping them.
In my experience, the Easttech drivers are really good. I used to own a philips sub with an Eastech driver, and it got about an inch and a half of excursion from a 6 inch
I have some crap Technics I was going to put some crossovers and upgraded woofers and tweeters from Dayton audio not there high end stuff but it will be $100 for crossover and speakers
Easteck is an asian company who makes cheap to moderate quality drivers for a lot of speaker manufacturers. You are bound to see some of them in the future.
the reason the tweeters normally goes first is that if an amp clips the clipping power is sent to the tweeters through the passive filter in 2way/3way/4way speakers and so on. that is why they normally goes if the power supply on the amp is not able to supply high enough voltage for the sin wave its trying to push out to the speakers(Amp clipping). It has nothing to do with the cutoff to the woofers. So many people tries to sound like they know wtf. they are talking about but you have no clue sadly. Learn how amps and speakers work before you tell things that is wrong. and if you want to test if the tweeter is really blown or its the passive filter, you use and multimeter and ohm the tweeter(without wires ofcourse).. if its unlimited ohm the coil is cut/burnt cause of overload quite simpel. Normal speaker coils is between 2 and 12 ohms. depending on the frequency u test with.
Managed to come across a pair of 15" PA Speakers left on the street on my walk to the shop and they are fully working and sound great cant believe someone threw them out
Dont pull a Garret Claridge and destroy those Pioneers. im sure there many people that would love to get there hands on those. i wish i had places where i live where i could walk into a room of speakers. EDIT: I Have a couple Eastech drivers, OEM's love them cause they offer lots of odd setups. like 5 and 12 ohm loads and odd sizes. i looked on there site and they offer like 300 drivers. not all are bad. some are pretty good
I can tell you what to do with them, put them properly back together make sure they are working correctly and then crank up the music until they pop. I'm impressed, you actually when to the shop to get cheap speakers and do tear downs and amuse us with horrible poor quality construction.
My pioneer’s look so different but they’re my dads old speakers and I love them, the surprising thing is they’re old but they still pack a punch
Pioneers look just like Yamahas. I was about to shit a brick when I saw the thumbnail.
Those pioneers are vintage and valuable depending on the model. I'd keep them
Do you think the pioneer S-J700D speaker is valuable?
Tre Scatti they are pieces of crap tho
Those are the Pioneer S-Z83D they are Amazing
@@nilsrosenow6367 lol trust me, when you listen to a pair of real Hifi speakers like i have at home, you will never want these cheap plastic pioneer speakers again :)
why they are crap and sound like shiet :)
Is that the same driver as the Voxson white van speakers?
My only request DON'T ruin those nice Pioneers! Cone sag is pretty common in old speakers and so are bad caps. You would use a non polarized cap for the tweeter.
Would the woofer be better with a bigger magnet?
Bigger magnet doesn't always mean it performs better, for the 1970's these are pretty powerful drivers. They rely on cone area and a large enclosure. He could upgrade them if he wanted to, just wouldn't look the same though.

Great content as always. Muffler deleted R36 Passat sounds great. Keep it up, mate.
Love your videos Doublsmm, this makes up my day
the easttech are kinda good ... i had the audio sistem from where those speakers came or sth kinda same .... theyvare good ... nowci gotva hts 3100 sub from easttech that s 50w and hit 21 hz
I got the hts3400
Pioneer/Panasonic/Technics have all produced incredible speakers
Haha I would not say incredible, but yeah they have made some good consumer speakers over the years. Back in the 80's Technics was making some real nice 3 ways with a 15 inch woofer. I owned a pair and i liked them a lot.

I'm into pro audio but eastech has always suprised me with funky and rather good stuff
even when i don't know much about speakers, these video's are very clear.
R.I.P LIL PEEP 👊💓
Just use long screws for the blue drivers. It should work fine in a back mount.
that vw is lovely 😌
The way he says doss.
WHAT ARE DOSS
Melon. Lmao
Melon. We are gonna look at doss
It's the brand
You beat me to the punch x.x

Good video mate old school pioneer speakers always have small magnets and those look the same as the aiwa version as well
rip lil peep
The drivers in the doss speakers are just like the ones in the voxson system
i have a pair of pioneercs-g404 floorstanding had to replace the caps on the tweeters so id say to keep the pioneers
I'm a simple man..

Keep the pioneer just change the Bass speaker
Its called a woofer not a bass speaker btw. "not to be mean "
Easttech driver are either really good or really bad from my experience. I had some very stiff but also very free-like woofers!
And the old pioneer speakers always seem pretty cheap. (I’ve got a few) but they always sound surprisingly good and they get pretty loud.
Eastec can be crap, I had a few it just depends I guess where you get it from. A couple were really nice the others were junk
What’s a good amplifier for them?

eastech makes some of the most advanced speakers that are easy to get,and makes the oem drivers for big expensive brands

I still remember when you had the 4 JBL 18’s...where did they go?
East tech is actually ok, drivers are ok, sound quality is fine, my recommend!
I WANT ALL OF THOSE SPEAKERS THERE
You should do a free air of those us audio speakers
Dude with all the speakers make a budget home theater system
the Pioneers have woofer midrange and tweeter
I have some crap Technics I was going to put some crossovers and upgraded woofers and tweeters from Dayton audio not there high end stuff but it will be $100 for crossover and speakers
Wow haha I'm starting to love the second - hand store!!
0:52 What is this shop?
walmart
save the pioneer speakers they sound so clean i had a pair too if u replace the woofer bc the old wofer is not that good
ops sry they arent the same version mine got a 12 inch sub but maybe they sound good
Depending on how much moving mass a speaker has it doesn't need a huge "motor".
put the blue one in the a320
Easteck is an asian company who makes cheap to moderate quality drivers for a lot of speaker manufacturers. You are bound to see some of them in the future.

I was the one who owned those pioneer speakers that’s the exact thrift store I took them to but I upgraded that’s funny 😂
those resisistors are a ghetto low pass filter xD nice vid bro
Doss actually makes really nice speakers - check the doss soundbox XL...
I have 2 4 inches in my sound bar in my jeep and i like blue. So i could use those blue speakera

I love how he hooks up the speakers and lil peep goes blasting through
i seen quit a few eastech speakerd and i once found some eastech speakers in a panasonic enclosure
What sound is that
Use the pioneers as the garage system with the Sony etc
yeahh finaly
