Rioghnach has a beautiful huskiness to her voice. And the instrumentalists, guitarists, bassist, violinist, all complement each other so well. Each finding spaces to express themselves.
What beauty. The singer, the voice, the song. All human beings should see and hear the beauty of this singer. Thank you, and I thank the Stars such beauty exists in this paltry world of meanness and shallowness.
So beautiful. This breaks me up - listening to it gives me a true grasp of my late dads love for his native rural South Ayrshire - and the wonderful poetry of Robert Burns❤
I've played this an embaracing amount lately. This bypassed my icey defences and strikes deep... Maybe my irish roots are being tickled. Lyrics are amazing and that voice! Ilove the dynamic way the band plays alwell. Skills! Thank you.
Oh my sweet baby Jesus, an amazing poem put to music by a folk genius, performed by incredible musicians and sung by a woman with a fantastic, characterful voice. So that's music finished, what's next?😉
Bravo! 🌹❤️🕊️🌟 Beautifully sung xxx her voice was made for these wonderful lyrics. Rioghnach and the Band of Burn Musicians has done Robbie Burns proud ❤️🌹🥀🌟
Wow, stunning performance. What a beautiful voice I can't stop listening to it! I could live without the backing to be honest, the voice is so interesting, all those delicate and perfectly executed inflections.
So grateful that someone posted this on social media and brought this gorgeous performance to a wider audience. A breathtaking artist who deserves to be widely known!
Stunning. I have listened non-stop for an hour - the song, the singing, the singer - perfection. Brings tears to the eyes and joy to the heart in weary times.
Burns was only 17 when he wrote this masterpiece for his Peggy dear - and he loved to hear women's voices sing and was inspired by them. His mother was a singer too. Perfect interpretation.
54 years old and I just cried at the beauty of your voice, I am in Edinburgh, Scotland and will drive to anywhere in Scotland I can hear you live and hear Band of Burns, WOW , please tell me where you are performing live.
Dick Gaughan has the definitive version...and I can say that since I'm related to the author; however Ms Rioghnach, this is spectacular...with the freedom of Gaughan in your soul...really you are quite a singer!
To be honest this is a wonderfully executed Dick Gaughan arrangement of this song. Despite what the credits says above "Arrangement by Ríoghnach Connolly & Ellis Davies" this is exactly Dick's arrangement right down to his exact guitar lines. That takes nothing away from Ríoghnach Connolly's stunning singing.
My favourite rendition of one of my favourite songs. Magical Rioghnach, thank you x
She sings Burns songs with so much conviction. So beautiful and poetic 👌🏴🇦🇺
What a beautiful voice, perfect for this song ❤
I'm dumbfounded. Art in a song. What an ensemble.
Brilliant version - and I am a Dick Gaughin devotee!
both versions beautiful.
You just stole my thunder. :)
I saw this live 5 years ago, it moved me so deeply that it changed me. Powerful stuff. Watching it now years later brings back the moment, goosebumps!
In which manner did it change you?
I didn't think I'd ever find a cover of Dick Gaughan's Now Weslin Winds that would hit me in the heart like his (and Robert Burns) original did.
Rioghnach has a beautiful huskiness to her voice. And the instrumentalists, guitarists, bassist, violinist, all complement each other so well. Each finding spaces to express themselves.
I’m not sure it gets any better than this.
Lovely! A perfectly balanced band singing a great song
What beauty. The singer, the voice, the song. All human beings should see and hear the beauty of this singer. Thank you, and I thank the Stars such beauty exists in this paltry world of meanness and shallowness.
