I believe you made the right choice with Old Town; they are the gold standard of kayaks! I believe you see that now with your 106 PDL and also because I have a Topwater PDL 120, and I LOVE IT! Enjoy your new boat.
Thank you! I’ve been nothing but absolutely pleased with it thus far and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon. You enjoy yours too! Hopefully it’s not too cold over where you’re at to still get out and be on the yak
The end of November I bought a used Ember Camo 106 PDL. I'm in upstate NY and have yet to try it out. So frustrating! I was happy to find your video as I know I will be going through the same experience as you when I can get it out. Probably in March. I loved watching your enthusiasm when setting up the pedal drive, your first cast, finding the front facing rod holder, standing up, and your first fish! I look forward to attempting to stand up as my balance ain't what it used to be. We'll see. Although I've been kayaking for years, I also started fishing last year with a Lifetime Tamarack SOT, too, which I'll be selling coming this Spring. It's a real pleasure to watch and listen to your comments. "Standing up! Cast! Sitting down!" 😁
Thank you sir for your kind words and HUGE CONGRATS!!!!!! You’re going to have such a blast once you’re able to take out your PDL 106. I was eyeballing the Ember color as well and almost got it (Photic was out of stock when I was about to purchase), but a Photic popped up so I went with it haha. It’s still such a blast fishing out if it. I’ve put in some solid seat time, so I’m more familiar with the layout and my setup. It’s still a blast being able to take it out and spend some time pedaling and fishing. And yes, standing up, casting, and sitting without issues haha. I’ve not done so too much standing recently due to winds/I’m cold haha, but it’s warming up!! Take care sir. Thanks again.
I got to say man I enjoy your content, I enjoy the fact that you don't edit out your little happy moments like first getting in the kayak or realizing that you have all this freedom at your disposal and so much ease of movement. You honestly set in the stone which kayak I'm going to be getting now, I was honestly weighing out between crescent Shirley because I love the rivers, and Old Town because I want to do tournaments and things like that. I'm sold on Old Town and Heck if I do get enough and tournaments I figure I can get me a surely too. Love the content man keep it up
Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I was absolutely stoked to get that kayak, and I hope it showed haha. It’s been an absolute blast and has definitely helped me step my fishing game up. I recently covered about 6.2 miles, and the second half of it was in some decent wind. The kayak kept me upright. You’re going to love yours! And they came out with some different color schemes as well, which is nice. I still prefer my photic though haha. Tight lines out there! Thank you for swinging by and for the encouragement.
I have been looking to purchase 2 kayaks, one for my daughter or my wife and one for myself. I was also looking at the Old Town 106 pdl for the same reasons as you. I just stumbled on to your site. I have to say, your enthusiasm is priceless, my attention span usually doesn’t let me watch a video that long, but I thoroughly enjoyed it… Thanks . We will be watching.
Hey!!! Many thanks! I was beyond thrilled to get that kayak haha. From getting it off the truck to the first launch, it was nothing but thrills, and continues to take care of me on the water. It’s a fantastic kayak to say the least. I’ve been thoroughly impressed. Thanks for watching and for sharing those kind words. I really appreciate it!!
I just ordered a 106 in the metal camo from Eco yesterday. I've been using a Lifetime Sport Fisher for about 5 years. I sit too low and wanted to get a higher and better seat. Ill donate my Lifetime to my brother who has a cottage on Lake Erie. Best of both worlds. Can use that on Erie and my new beast at home. I was also between the 106 and the 12 foot. All told, the 106 will fit better in my truck bed and will still fit in my trailer if I ever take multiple yaks. I can do everything in the 106 I can do in the 12.
You’re going to be getting an absolutely fantastic kayak. Even with my 106, I still have plenty of storage and haven’t even utilized half of it (dry bag up front for emergency things, small box for battery, transducer wire, battery wire, and that’s it). Most of my other stuff is up with me or in my milk crate - tackle, net, rods, soft plastics. The 106 took care of me in super choppy conditions too. 20 sustained with 30+ gust in a big lake. Got me back to the ramp and back on dry land in 1 piece with all my gear still attached. Nothing but good things to say about the kayak.
Just found your channel that laugh at the start of the video is great. i felt the exact same when i got out on my outlaw with my trolling motor. I think I even had that same laugh.
Hahaha, the laugh is it! It was absolutely amazing, especially after saving and working towards it. Then after a delay, I was super excited to finally get it and get it out on the water. Thanks for stopping by! Catch a BIG one!
Thanks!!! I had my Teton for a bit, and it treated me really well, even on a huge lake with 11-15 sustained winds with higher gusts. The Teton is still in the garage though haha. Yeah… that feeling when I stood up was absolutely wild. I absolutely love standing up in it to fish. I do so as much as I can whenever I’m out on the water!
Just upgraded from a tamarack to the Sportsman 120PDL. Won't be able to get mine out on water until closer to spring, but can't wait. Picked me up some Navarre part mods while I am waiting and staring at it too much. 😆
The 106 makes kayak fishing look so much more possible and I've had a Prowler 13 paddle kayak never fished from it since owning/buying it in 2009. So the one thing I have missed in about all videos is You and Others stowing their fish away, the rest of the story, you know, how hard it is reaching around to your special black box with the tackle on top and how many fish like 25 inch reds or catfish will fit in that box with a bag of ice. You all like to look like great catch-release sportsmen on your videos, but, I take home whatever is legal, clean, freeze or cook it. I will not make many vids of just catch and release, besides we need to see the difficulty in storing and how many and the reach around in a chair that does not swivel. I wish all of you kayak fishermen making videos would show us the whole story. I don't ever see anybody reach around for anything in a video. Could yall all help us out, show us how easy or hard. Oh and often I fish with frozen dead shrimp, how you use bait and sto when cooler is behind you. Can yall get enough ice and drinks in a cold pack behind the seat. Seen that too. I am trying to see some videos where people show how hard or easy to do EVERYTHING. This is maiden, but even on fishing vids, nobody shows turning around and storing the catch. I remember first vid nice quiet looked like you might have been by a golf course, nice. Thank you
@@leonard3k hey, thanks for the comment and for the insight; I find it fairly easy to turn around and reach things behind me (I’ve done so in newer vids now that I’ve got everything setup how I like it). When I’ve caught and kept fish, I have a large fish bag with ice that I bungee to the bow and have stored fish in there. The 106 is stable enough to lean forward and access the front (including the hatch - I’ve had to open it to retrieve rain gear out of a dry bag) so I wouldn’t see much issue with storing your catches up there. Whenever I’ve had to spend more time reaching behind me, I’ll turn all the way around and kneel in my seat to access anything in the back. The kayak has been plenty stable in me doing this and returning back to a front facing position. You could keep a large cooler in the back to put fish on ice, and you could access it by this method I’ve described. For smaller fish, it’s not difficult to turn my body to reach behind me. Body composition will also play a factor; I’m decently flexible and only weigh about 165. Let me know what other questions you have. I may shoot a video to follow up with this, reaching behind me, accessing different things, etc, and maybe a year review.
Great question. I initially went from a Lifetime Tamarack to a Teton and that felt really top heavy. This kayak does not feel top heavy at all. The stability on this thing has been absolutely astounding. It may take some adjusting initially but once you’re in it and settled, it’s great. The initial and secondary stability is phenomenal.
I'm picking mine up today from Dick's Sporting Goods, Gotta Wait for Nissan to send me my roof rails so I can get it on the water but I can't wait. You still loving the purchase?
Absolutely. The kayak took care of me big time as I ventured into some current in a river earlier today haha, and previously on a big lake with 25+ winds. I would have for sure flipped in my old kayak. You’re going to love it.
@@thatfishingnoob I grabbed one this morning from Dicks locally. Got it home and there wasn't a seat lol after calling them they gave me the run around so I ended up driving 90 minutes each way to a diff one to trade it out. But now I was able to get the color you have which is the one I wanted. Can't wait to get it out on the rivers here in Pittsburgh.
Sheeeeesh what the heck lol. That’s a bit of a mess. Glad you got it sorted though, after spending 3 hours on the road. OT customer service is definitely top notch though. Today I tested some pretty strong current halfway intentionally. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially with shallow rocks 😂
Thank you! Absolutely zero regrets - the kayak is amazing to say the least. I caught some good fish today out of it too! Now time to edit everything haha. Tight lines!
I have one ordered!!! Only dragged it on some thick grass, and getting a cart soon as well, which will help. Thanks for checking - definitely important to protect the underside under the water.
I felt the same one that first day. Dope, I know the feeling . 😎🤙
It’s still a blast to take out. Added plus of getting a little workout in too haha, especially when covering 8 miles in a day.
About to order mine. So excited to get out on the water again
Do it! You’re going to love it. Enjoy being back out on the water again once it comes in!

That's a great kayak

Do not get discouraged...mine took 5 months to get to me...but worth the wait...smiles
Sheesh! That’s a while haha. Thankfully, mine was only delayed like a week and a half or so.
Just got mine last Friday. Kind of heavy to get it on/off the car, but is pretty sweet on the water.
