His IM debrief was near the exact same one as me from this years event. It was my first time as well at full distance and it was truly an incredible event to do but in my life. I always ask if coach Rob is present at an event I’m doing if I see a TOA triathlete but he’s never there. One day though I’ll meet you in person and say thank you for all the advice you’ve given me.
Hey Rhys - thanks for the kind words, I hope we get to meet at an event one day. I don't get to many in person these days, but, I appreciate your kind words!
Huge fan of the Podcast here. I signed up for my first Wales 2025 Ironman, and listening to your podcasts was one of the main reasons I convinced myself I could do it. This story is a great motivator for me, and all incredibly reassuring. Thank you for this. One question I still can't quite answer, is how can I predict my finish time? Is there a point in training when you can start to build a good picture of estimated finishing times?
Really hard to predict and Ironman finish time as there are so many variables and factors. Swim CSS +12s per 100 is a good starting point for newbie triathletes. Best Bike Split is a good prediction tool for bike time, but your average speed on a six hour ride in training is also a good rule of thumb. And your open marathon time plus 30-60 minutes as a 'best case' time. But for a first timer, 'just finishing inside the time limit' is a good target! :) Hope this helps in some way!
Just came across this video, congratulations and many thanks for sharing your experience. Would you do another full IM?
Congratulations Allun! I remember you signing up last year! Massive achievement 👊
Thanks Tullia, hope you're well!
Congratulations! It was a tough race. First time for me too
Hope it went well for you, Ben!
I think Allun’s story is a true example of “Anything Is Possible”!
I totally agree, Ben! Thanks for watching!
