Tbh, some of these tyranid dice rolls were awful. But, it is the same thing i saw at the official game that GW uploaded, these tyranids have pretty bad AP, their shooting and melee often did almost nothing to the marines, who could consistently make saves. Marines also have a lot of rerrolls, and oaths of moment is basically death for the unit you choose. However, we still have to see more units, maybe bringing some tyranids who are more anti elite.
That new apothecary sure looks fancy, considering that in both games that i seen he just sat on an objective the entire game. Does he have a weapon? I don't know. Is there any cool abilities? I don't know. Is he even real or is it just a figment of my imagination? I don't know, he might as well be a random guardsman.
In our upcoming How to Play video we have a fun interaction with him. He does have a gun and an interesting mechanic. All Leaders give a buff to the unit they attach to and in this case, he was not attached to a unit.
Goonhammer wrote that he attaches to Gravis units and gives them Lethal Hits. A pretty good buff on something like Aggressors, however, there's nothing to attach him to in this box, so players can't make use of him and he has to sit back.

Yeah, looking at the strat you can only use it in your own command phase, so it can’t be used to stop shadow in the warp. Still, new rules, easily missed. Also still underpowered compared to oaths, which looks kinda miserable to play against in smaller games like this
Putting a new player with Nids vs one of your most competitive players with space marines is a bummer. Watching her units get stripped off the table while the marines barely got scratched was painful.
If those leapers had some way of reacting to being shot at, maybe the game would feel more interactive for both players? Plus it wasnt just points spent for naught? But what do I know
Yeah, back in my Tyranid days of 5th edition, every game looked a lot like this. Rough if this is how the new box set plays out the majority of the time... At least the bugs look cooler! 😊
I am going to say something that not many people, if anybody, will say in the comments but here it goes: Rebecca is not a good player and there were quite a few misplays and throughout the battle report. Keep in mind that she is a very new player though, so that is to be expected, she will get better with time and experience. The box scenario doesn't always play like that and the Tyranids have huge potential, you just need to pilot them well.
@@Dracobyte here are some ways 5th was different: • Units had built-in abilities (no CP/strategems). • Pre-measuring wasn't allowed. You would declare your target first, then shoot. If you were out of weapon range, you couldn't shoot or elect another unit within range to shoot. • Split fire wasn't allowed without special rules or wargear - a unit had to declare all its attacks to one enemy unit. • Sweeping Advance allowed you to wipe a unit after a successful assault phase. • Target opportunity tests, (may not have been in 5th?) you had to pass a leadership test to shoot any unit that wasn't the closest. • Vehicles had armor and a different amount depending on its orientation (front, side, rear). They also had weapon facing and degrees of fire - example many sponson weapons could only fire in a 90° arc. • Vehicles had glancing and penetrating damage tables to reference. They also remained on the table after they were "wrecked" and became terrain. Additionally, vehicles could move at "different speeds" within their move characteristic and would therefore generate different effects. • Hits and Wounds were calculated/referenced from a table. • Template weapons and scattering. • It was played on a 6'x4' table. • There were only three phases: Movement, Shooting, Assault.
"We both lost quite a bit. I lost my captain, you lost your uh..... army." Rough game to watch for the nids, those dice just were not having it and the Levi box really needs some more AP in there.
Is the insane bravery for this box different from the rule book? Shadow in the Warp should have been activated at the start of the command phase, as the insane bravery strat can only be used in the battleshock step of the command phase, and not in response to just any battleshock.
It was a fun match to watch even though I was fairly confident it'd be a marine win. Props to Rebecca for taking the underdog nids against a stronger SM force designed out of the box to murder them. She did well and was fun to watch and listen too, with a great attitude. :)
Nids new shadow in the warp is so bad lmaooooo 1cp to counter it entirely even if you somehow don’t pass, vs the marines getting free rerolls to everything on a unit of their choice. GW with a masterpiece of balance
The choice to bring only one source of AP higher than 1 certainly feels like a maladaptive one. The neurotyrant attack being low AP was the real shock for me. Did nid lists really need two new HQs specialized in hurting light infantry?
@@PlayOnTabletop No problem, glad you caught it. It was a great game anyway! Do all combi-weapons really hit with the same profile? That was the only bit I found confusing, otherwise 10th looks sweeeet.

@@zarlus8 thank you so much for your answer!
Just here to give some love to space marine Steve from the imperial fists, dudes a legend!
I love how fast 10th edition finishes games. I don't want to play for 2.5-4 hrs on a single game lol
This was only around 1k points so 2k still going to be around 3 hours
Well they are playing at a smaller points level than usual, It’ll play faster, but maybe not that much faster.
I've seen 1k games take twice as long as this. I'm hoping even larger games can be done quickly with the new format.
The background projectors were such a good addition. These videos are looking great.
This channel has inspired me to start a 40k army can't wait for 10th edition it looks good
"We both lost quite a bit. I lost my captain, you lost your uh..... army." Rough game to watch for the nids, those dice just were not having it and the Levi box really needs some more AP in there.
Looks like Oath of Moment is triumphant...
Absolutely needs to be once per game. Not every round
@@joshual6305 yeah well Spez Marinz iz da best...
That dreadnaught kicking the Screamer Killer and actually wounding it was pretty funny XD
Is the insane bravery for this box different from the rule book? Shadow in the Warp should have been activated at the start of the command phase, as the insane bravery strat can only be used in the battleshock step of the command phase, and not in response to just any battleshock.
Oooh! That’s a good catch. We may have missed this.
One of my most beloved action-comedy series:
Year of steve
Year 2 - the return of steve
Steve 3 - Tokyo Drift
good game! Im liking the look of 10thE from this, but the Dice Gods continue to take their pound of plastic XD
Dice Tell Stories. Both players had great attitudes despite what the dice were doing to them so we appreciate both for being so amazing with it.
It was a fun match to watch even though I was fairly confident it'd be a marine win. Props to Rebecca for taking the underdog nids against a stronger SM force designed out of the box to murder them. She did well and was fun to watch and listen too, with a great attitude. :)
I assume Steve didnt get Victory Dice as you cant risk opening the locked cabinet where they are stored while he is in the building?
You got it!
Great game guys, thanks for hosting a 10th ed. game and walking us all through it roll by roll. :)
Will there be a beginner's guide video for how to play 40k like there was for 9th edition?
Yep! We’re almost done
We are working on it as we speak! It is a huge video so taking us a lot longer to produce but should be out soon
I’ve been waiting for this one. POT is my go to channel for battle reports. I’m so excited for all the 10th edition content that is to come!
Nids new shadow in the warp is so bad lmaooooo 1cp to counter it entirely even if you somehow don’t pass, vs the marines getting free rerolls to everything on a unit of their choice. GW with a masterpiece of balance
And shadow in the warp is once per game.
The Marines get to pick a unit every turn to vaporize.
Totally fair and balanced
Dam dam dam good batrep of 10th. It is shaping up to be quite fun.
Please, more games with Rebecca 😊
Seems like hive fleet leviathan is all bark no bite with these previews.
The choice to bring only one source of AP higher than 1 certainly feels like a maladaptive one.
The neurotyrant attack being low AP was the real shock for me. Did nid lists really need two new HQs specialized in hurting light infantry?
That new Carnifex model is so damn sick!!
Apparently, the screamer killer is kind of a unique model that's different from the carnifex
@@DarthAuxilia screamer killer was just a variation of carnifex that you could run, this is the screamer killer getting it's very own model.
@@kendalflongbeard2935 yeah I just meant that it's confirmed the carnifex model isn't changing, and there give the screamer killer a new one
Would love to see some space marine painting tutorials! Beautiful work!
Oh my god the new models look soooooo good 🤤🤤🤤
And were very fun to paint!
Love Steve geeking out about making his first roll of 10th edition...despite having already rolled to determine attacker/defender. 😆
Audio levels are a bit off in this one. 🤔
Sorry about that. We realized way too late (after the game) that Steve's mic was pointed away from him
@@PlayOnTabletop No problem, glad you caught it. It was a great game anyway! Do all combi-weapons really hit with the same profile? That was the only bit I found confusing, otherwise 10th looks sweeeet.
Combi weapons is a single profile. The benefits seem to be in the keywords. It took a bit for us to get used to it.
Also, R.I.P. headphone users at 0:28. 🤯
More of this, this is great!!!
nids army rule seems extremely underwhelming
Against Ld7 or higher it's a lot more devastating
With all those flamers they missed really missed out on the Salamanders coming in.🔥🔥🔥
