Perfect do it all shoe, I prefer it to the superblast as I found that too firm and not as enjoyable as this at all paces. From slow easy recovery to tempo runs this handles it all. I just wish for $200 the upper fit a bit better and we got a gusseted tongue. But so far its my favorite shoe of 2024 and is truly the 1 shoe that can do it all.
The key sticking point as noted by you Steve is the cost. In Australia, Brooks are selling them for $330. I can buy a plated shoe like a NB SC Trainer or a Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 for the same price. It’s just really challenging to justify the price tag.
Good review, maybe not bad shoe but at that price point you will expect shoe to be awsome and versatile - sometimes adding to name trendy "MAX" and adding buckets of marketing wont help if competition is as good as we have it now 😊
I love the ghost max (I did my first marathon in the Ghost Max 2) because the plate in my racers was messing with my plantar fasciitis. I’m looking forward to trying the Glycerin Max. I think the max series shoes deserved new names to differentiate them as new shoes.
Glad to hear the Ghost Max has been working for you. They definitely should have changed the nomenclature for the new "Max" line of shoes, as the Ghost Max and Glycerin Max are nothing like their counterparts.
Oh and on the midfoot rubbing, Gave me the worst blister on the leftmost part of the midfoot of my left foot. Went up half a size and I still get a hotspot in the area but nowhere as near as bad enough to blister like that. Hoping as it breaks in that goes away…

It can be quite a bit of stack height for some people. But, it is the direction shoes are moving towards. Thanks to Hoka popularizing maximalist shoes, a lot of brands have been copying them trying to give their shoes as much stack height as possible.
I picked it up and have enjoyed the first few runs. It felt great on foot....seemed to be enough room as I tend to crave a wide toe box. But I also had a little bit of a blister form after about 8 miles on the outside of my left big toe. It was minor....but it surprised me as the shoe felt like it fit completely fine. I'll try some nut butter on my toe next time just in case :)
Same here. After it happened again on the second run in the shoe I had to make the decision to return it. It was almost the perfect long run shoe for me but I couldn't risk that feeling never going away.
Maybe. I also work in the shoe industry and have these in my store and they have a decent toe box, but if you usually need a wide in other Brooks, they may not work right now. They are not currently making this show in a wide, but that could come later.

I have bunions myself and have had no issues with the width.
