The concern with the SWF and Valeo blade is the only thing between your windshield and a piece of steel is the rubber. I had a blade stick to the windshield tear on a highway during a rain storm, that metal destroyed the windshield, it etched the glass badly. At least with the Bosch the plastic would prevent the glass to metal contact if the rubber blade fails. That could be the reason for the more complex design, and why I will be sticking with Bosch.
Same happened to me!!!! It is annoying.. I didn't check my wipers regularry and when sun shined trought windsheild I saw there is patern written in my screen because on bottom side rubber was destroyed. Now I check them regulary if are still in good condition. But damage is already made. Atleast it is on the bottom on the windshield....

Nice test. However there are also other criteria for a good wiper: Wiping at speed of 100km/h and above, wind noise during drive, wiper noise at each turn when getting older, time of usage until it is dangerous to use them further etc. It is not only wiping performance in a static setup after an abuse test.

Great test Sergiu, But next time if you choose a top product from Bosch pls also choose the same from other brands ex: Valeo Silencio, because Valeo First is their entry level product same as Bosch Eco, they are probably designed to fail sooner.
Bosch Aerotwin is premium line. Valeo First is budget line. Bosch has also a budget line called "Bosch Eco". Valeo has also a premium line called "Valeo Silencio". You tested a premium Bosch wiper against a budget Valeo wiper.
Valeo are shit wipers no matter what line, french quality, says it all Bought a pair of silencio, they didnt last more than 2 months, and I drive my car like once or twice a week during short trips, at night because of them I had to frequently stop and manually clean the windshield because of the unimaginable streaks they left which made driving a nightmare, try to stay from anything french fries make, fucking cancer
@@iplaybose I have not had any issues with Valeo's Ultimate and Titanium blades. In fact they have lasted the longest at 3 years followed by Bosch Icon lasting 2 yrs and 7 months.
Thanks for the test and results. First time I saw a setup like this - and ist makes a lot of sense. I was happy with the Bosch aero twin - got them with the last two used cars. Next time I will try SWF. :)
Nice test! I tried Valeo and some other "noname" brands, but keep coming back to Bosch, the wider design helps in wiping at high speeds and they lasted me 3 years, which I found is a good result! My car sits a lot in direct sun and ice, being parked outside.

SWF wiper blades used to be the best until they were aquired by Valeo. So Valeo and SWF today is the same. Currently I run Continental wipers on my Octavia and they are good. If you want to clean the cut edge of the wiper blade, use the magic white sponges, sometimes referred as dirt rubber sponge.

I'm driving BMW for many years now - they come new with SWF blades. I tried Bosch and SWF several times on my and my wives car (at her last car I put less expensive Champion blades on before selling it). Since its raining here very often, getting dark early in winter time and the roads are quite crowded, you need good wiper blades. I replace them each year late summer. Now what I found out is that Bosch blades perform better than SWF. Champion were good new but got bad after a few weeks. After shot period of time the SWF left a water film on the screen. This was not just at my tries but also at most BMW company cars I used. Combined with the poor BMW wiper assistant, rain will have a massive impact on your vision.

Dupa, am avut bosch au tinut aproape 3/4 din an, dar pe la jumatatea perioadei lasau urme. Acum am valeo dar lasa urme de noi. O sa incerc swf, daca gasesc dimensiunea si prinderea. Am prindere cui si stergatoare de 800 mm. Bravo, asteptam si urmatoarele teste
I have GoodYear wipers in my Astra H. They are quite decent compared to Valeo wipers, which wear out quite quickly. It would be nice to see these wipers in some kind of comparison test, because they are not quite popular and in my opinion quite decent. Great video thanks a lot. I use Bosch Aerotwin on mine Golf, and they work fine, but they don't last very long. I hope to see new wiper designs in the future.
I have had the best luck with Valeo 900 series blades and the First. Both blades lasted for 2 years with First lasting in the Colorado dry, hot and dusty climate. I also make it a point to clean the blades with denatured alcohol. Bosch has been pretty decent as well. SWF I have never heard of so that must be a brand that is not in the US.
One thing I find is also the length of the blade also plays a big factor, I have a Fiesta ST, they call for either 24-26" on the drivers side, I see the edges skipping/jumping, when I swapped them down to 22" it was MUCH better. but that's just my experience.
After a year of using SWF on the passenger side I have to say it beats Bosch and Valeo hands down. For the driver side I installed Valeo (at the same time as SWF) which I had to switch to Bosch just after 6 months and now I'll be switching to SWF. The passenger side wiper is still as good as new. I had Continental wipers before and they were excellent too. Actually they were even too good as they collected all the water in one go and they returned on the dry. The wiper motor had some hard time as the wipers really got stuck to the glass and I was afraid it would eventually burn.
Forget SWF. I recently hunted and bough them inspired by this video to replace my 3-year old Valeo. Turns out they are EXACTLY the same wipers. The only difference is the SWF/VALEO print.

Foarte faine testele tale :) Sper sa vedem cat mai multe pe viitor. Nu ma asteptam ca Bosch-ul sa fie asa de slab, dar sincer de-aia am si renuntat la a mai da 80 de lei pe un set in loc de 30 cat dau pe unele din Auchan care isi fac treaba cu brio.
Bosch Aerotwin I use a trademark on three cars more of his cca one years. After a year that trouble of all, that up in a direction does not wipe the water, down in a direction wipes the water. This is the phenomenon though at all three cars! It may be the trouble according to me, when down deletes the windscreen wiper a shovel, the rubber stay in that position, when the windscreen wiper does not use it shovel. Because of that deletes down in a direction. Upwards though does not delete. The windscreen wiper a shovel stands much time in one of the directions.
You should consider DENSO wipers for a future test, they seem to be still Made in Japan (at least my DRB-030) and you can feel the quality in your hands.

Eu aș prefera să se strice lama la ștergător și nu să-mi zgârie parbrizul. Am pățit asta tot cu Valeo. Am niște dungi foarte faine acum.
@@SergiuGabor Și încă una asta iar nu prea ai cum s-o testezi: Că-i mai lat poate fi iar un avantaj (bine depinde și de construcție). La viteze mari are tendința să se ridice de pe parbriz. Dacă-i lat și asimetric (așa sunt cele cu sigla mașinii pe ele) au ca un fel de eleron, aerul ce vine peste parbriz practic le "apasă" pe sticlă.
Ai dreptate, amănuntele acestea nu le-am specificat și ar fi trebuit. Dar in episodul următor o să le includ. Mulțumesc pentru precizări, sunt binevenite. Cred că ar trebui să-mi construiesc un tunel aerodinamic pentru teste 😅
spoiler-ul simetric este gandit asa ca sa poti monta stergatoarele atat pe vehicule cu volan pe stanga, cat si pe dreapta, astfel fluxul de aer se comporta la fel in ambele situatii. Am vazut masini cu variante de stergatoare dedicate pentru vehicule cu volan pe dreapta, adica cu spoiler asimetric, e ca si cum ai intoarce o aripa de avion invers :)

BMW 2008 original wipers have on the rubber blade engraved SWF. That means that SWF was producing them at the time for them. This does not mean that SWF only branded wipers are identical because BMW negotiates the quality when signing a spare part supplier contract. Top on that SWF is a sub company of Valeo..

Rain-X® Silicone AdvantEdge I have had these on my truck for 3 years. Still like new.
I use that and it doesn't even need wipers on the motorway it just beads off. I put it on every thing that as a windscreen.
Those cros-section views were really valuable! Nobody else showed that yet!
I had the silencio xtreme for 5 years, and i just bought a new pair only to wipe just perfect. I hope the new pair will be as durable as the old ones

Foarte faine testele tale :) Sper sa vedem cat mai multe pe viitor. Nu ma asteptam ca Bosch-ul sa fie asa de slab, dar sincer de-aia am si renuntat la a mai da 80 de lei pe un set in loc de 30 cat dau pe unele din Auchan care isi fac treaba cu brio.

Bosch Aerotwin I use a trademark on three cars more of his cca one years. After a year that trouble of all, that up in a direction does not wipe the water, down in a direction wipes the water. This is the phenomenon though at all three cars! It may be the trouble according to me, when down deletes the windscreen wiper a shovel, the rubber stay in that position, when the windscreen wiper does not use it shovel. Because of that deletes down in a direction. Upwards though does not delete. The windscreen wiper a shovel stands much time in one of the directions.
You should consider DENSO wipers for a future test, they seem to be still Made in Japan (at least my DRB-030) and you can feel the quality in your hands.

I work at valeo, swf windscreen wipers are made at valeo, like other brands.
Do the same test with silicone wipers vs rubber.

În altă ordine de idei, dar nu știu cum poți testa asta... Văd că ai zis că Valeo s-a uzat cel mai repede. Asta nu e ceva tocmai rău. Eu aș prefera să se strice lama la ștergător și nu să-mi zgârie parbrizul. Am pățit asta tot cu Valeo. Am niște dungi foarte faine acum.
@@SergiuGabor Și încă una asta iar nu prea ai cum s-o testezi: Că-i mai lat poate fi iar un avantaj (bine depinde și de construcție). La viteze mari are tendința să se ridice de pe parbriz. Dacă-i lat și asimetric (așa sunt cele cu sigla mașinii pe ele) au ca un fel de eleron, aerul ce vine peste parbriz practic le "apasă" pe sticlă.
Ai dreptate, amănuntele acestea nu le-am specificat și ar fi trebuit. Dar in episodul următor o să le includ. Mulțumesc pentru precizări, sunt binevenite. Cred că ar trebui să-mi construiesc un tunel aerodinamic pentru teste 😅
spoiler-ul simetric este gandit asa ca sa poti monta stergatoarele atat pe vehicule cu volan pe stanga, cat si pe dreapta, astfel fluxul de aer se comporta la fel in ambele situatii. Am vazut masini cu variante de stergatoare dedicate pentru vehicule cu volan pe dreapta, adica cu spoiler asimetric, e ca si cum ai intoarce o aripa de avion invers :)

Thank you very very much for this video. Now, it would be interesting to have a performance comparison between this new type of blads and the traditional framed ones. Did you ever do that ?

BMW 2008 original wipers have on the rubber blade engraved SWF. That means that SWF was producing them at the time for them.
This does not mean that SWF only branded wipers are identical because BMW negotiates the quality when signing a spare part supplier contract.
Top on that SWF is a sub company of Valeo..
