I agree it is doable but only if you discipline yourself like you said and from two incomes and a lot of cutting down. My experience was different I got here in my 20's so I never thought of savings then, but later in my adult life and with the grace of God I have a good job and my mechanism was to join what you call contribution/Ajo this has been going on over 5 years and no one has ever defaulted, I joned a 2nd group this year. In that way I have been able to have a lump sum which initially when I arrived in the UK thought was impossible. You did well considering the fact that you guys did it in 1 year. Kudos👏
Great information Tochi. I love the tips and how real and transparent you are especially in this video. I really need to learn that aspect of saying NO because I find it hard to do so.
😄😄😄😄😄😄 she said she sends a particular money on her saving account and in her head that money does not exist, this one really cracked me cos I thought am d only one on this table with this type of mind set. Love dear!
Your testimony motivated me, am about leaving for the Uk soon as I have gotten my visa. Your testimony has helped to give me focus and direction. Thanks for all that you do and may the lord give you more wisdom. When the need arises I will like to ask you a question.
Thank you so much Tochi. I'm very interested in you making the video for investments in stocks and crypto and how it contributed in you making up the deposit for the house.
I love this. Great job! Sounds like some of our financial advisers when advising us how to cut down on expenses and spend below our income.😊😊😊. Please oblige us with the type of jug and filter you bought. Many people will need that information. It'll be highly appreciated also if you can get your hubby to tell us about buying stocks and crypto in UK.
That Black tax situation is another thing I tell you, the 1st year i left…every Tom, dick and harry came with their request. I almost exhausted all my savings in Naira cos I was being super nice. After some time I had to wise up, I even stopped sending bulk money to my naira account, the only money I started sending home was basically only for my mum. Once anybody asks me for money, I’ll just screenshot my account balance and send to the person and they’ll be shocked, but it helped me wella😂😂😂
Thank you Tochi. I really appreciate all that you share. Please I'm interested in learning the type ISA account I can save money with and what kind of investment I can make
Tochi, with this video the Nigerians think that's how everyone in the UK save money and they won't believe you that you don't have money when they begged. Tochi is a lawyer and nobody knows how her husband is financially buoyant... If you're building projects or giving dependants money back home, you can't save such money and still buy mortgage within 1 year and 2 years . I am not saying it's not possible but, financial obligations are different, jobs are different and profession are not same. Some are on low paid jobs... Discipline is the key but, don't over stretched yourself.
Olubunmi, I shared my experience not every Nigerians experience or expectation. The video is obviously titled ‘HOW I SAVED MONEY..’ this is to encourage people that everyone you set your mind to do is possible and not in any way to show off. Thank you
Sister Do not mislead people because of views on TH-cam You said you were on a dependent visa and only work 2 days per week because of child care You said you started saving £20 per week this gives you £80 per month You then you increased it from £20, to £30, £40, to £100 per week so let’s say you save £100 per week this makes £400 per month Now tell us how much you got as salary for your 2 days per week job 😂 that after expenses you were able to save £400 per month £100 x 52 weeks = £5,200 Since you did not start with £100 just as you said some week £20, some weeks £40. You can’t have £5,200 However, let’s say you were actually saving exactly £100 that’s still just £5,200 Let’s assume your husband did the same too that is £10,400 There is no way you can have left over income of £5,200 in a year on your 2 days per week job in the UK even 5 days Stop the lie it is misleading and will only make some people do despicable things when they come to the UK
Tochi, please clarify for the moneybox, is it both the deposit and additionally weekly deposit that bishop going in to the same account or ISA weekly deposit goes to ISA and the additionally deposit goes into another savings acc that I have?
Thank you dear sister you have been a great encourage . Pls do bring your husband and pls I need your help am in UK I need a job that can give visa sponsorship pls I can relocate to anywhere. Thank you
How is possible for you get your loan to secure a mortgage when you are here on student visa. What was job did you get within 3 arrival expect if not an agency job. Pls let us to be more realistic of things that can really be done here.
Maureen I am not in the Uk on a student visa, I wonder where you got that from. Anyways, I suggest you watch more of my house videos for better understanding
It’s how people just come with different billing and stories that worsens it all. The moment u are abroad the Billings keeps coming with stories, they don’t want to know what u are going thru here before getting d money
What kind of job do you do , we re coming to the uk soon and am a mum of two , I am really interested in the 20 hrs per week job too because of child care
If you're single parent you're expected to work 30+hours a week. Wages are very low so unless you're in a high flying job you will only afford to survive.
Thanks for the video Tochi. Please what is the alternative to Lifetime ISA account. It is for people under 40 years. I am 44 year old. What opportunities do I have
hello Tochi, please is there another option for payment to join your community? i have tried using card but it wasnt going. kindly suggest other method. thank you
Wow you need to be saving well over 1500 pounds a month to hit that target of 20k, iam a little sceptical about you saving all that... Personally I've managed to save almost 12k in 1 year 8 months and I've been very fungal. Sorry but I'd be very interested to see how on God's green earth you managed that, with P. A. Y. E and N.I and pension on someone's neck every month plus rent??
What happens if one started saving on lifetime ISA from this month and wasn't able to save up to 4k by April next year? Will the money disappear? Its better having this ISA account with one's current bank or Moneybox?
It's better to save with your bank. And to answer your second question. If you are able to save £2000, you get £500. If you save £1000, you get £250. Hope I've answered your questions
You are right Tochi,”Discipline is the word”.Weldone.That is who I am,I don’t spend on things that aren’t necessary when I have a target.
That’s the trick! Too many bills to pay here in the Uk still you must save and ignore some complain back home.
Good point, you are speaking my language. It took me 8 years to understand these. The earlier you start, the better.
Exactly
