I just finished reading "The Life and Adventures of James P. Beckwourth". It is a fantastic read which I highly recommend. I hope to visit this cabin someday and to retrace some of the routes he covered during his unbelievable life. Thanks for sharing.
Beckworth was truly a amazing man. I drive by the cabins every time I go to the claim. The cabins are about 20 miles from my house. Lots of interesting history here. Thanks for the video.

My own grandfather and great-uncle came out to California more than a hundred-twenty years ago. Great-uncle was a trapper who worked a line from Redding to Red Bluff. Their parents were born in bondage. You are a gem.

my editing program has gone thought an Update and this was the test run with the new program . I had meant to edit this and post months ago but baseball started so it got pushed to the back burner way back .

What is truly sad is that the Fort he started in Colorado, Fort El Pueblo totally ignores him and tries to paint him as a bad character as a reason to put him down. Some have tried to get him his due, but sadly, there is one political party that runs the area and has for decades and they cannot abide by a black man being their founder. They also are trying to get rid of the statue of Columbus put up by the large contingent of Italian settlers who worked at the local Steel Mill. Yeah, the people in power are sad people.
a much simpler time back then find some gold shoot your dinner get some wood for the fire and do it all tomorrow or you found enough gold for a few days
