Funny that I stumbled upon this. I was the fire chief in Sierra City. I also saw the one you did in Chilcoot. I grew up in that town. My father was the fire chief there, not sure if you noticed the monument outside of the fire hall that was made for him. Good job, I'll continue to look for your simple odyssey's. Take care and be safe.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I always enjoy reading personal stories about the areas I've visited. Thank you for sharing your story. Have a good evening.
Ive been going to this town since I was a little girl with my parents and sister. My dad had a friend that owned the Taylor's house. We would go up every summer. When I turned about 42, I left the Bay Area and moved to Plumas County near Graeagle. I never went back. Ive been here 20 years now. My sister has a house between Sierra City and Downieville. I love this area. I hope you went on Gold Lake Rd. and checked out Sand Pond and Sardine Lake and the resort behind it. You have a beautiful view of the Buttes from there.
Nice area looks like that was a logging town. But i heard there are a bout 100 Gold mines up in those hills and a 30 stamp mill at one time and that there are tours you can take of some mine operation when the building are open one could spend weeks exploring thank you for the walking tour p.s. and there is a cemetery that started in rhe 1850's up the hill from main road 🇺🇸🤔
What a great place to visit! Always love the map.😄 Oh, would we ever love to buy that place for sale. If only! And that park would be a cool place for a picnic. You mentioned using GPS. We can tell you from experience that it does not always play out the way it should. We put a destination in and it took 2 hours and we ended up in the very town we started in.😁 We sure enjoy these tours. Thanks so much. Have a good day our friend. Shelley and Max
Very nice, glad you made to my town. The ice box in front of the Red Moose Cafe is still intact, this was before the bear damaged it so I kinda know what day you visited, it was while I was at work for 2.5 days. The Red Moose is a good place to eat. They also have rooms above they rent which are a good deal, and it's really nice upstairs. Steve & Jenny are my neighbors. It's not usually vacant like that, you hit it at an odd time. Usually there are people walking around. We moved there due to the gorgeous view and rivers, and it's high enough in elevation which helps my husband breathe better. There is a great view of the Buttes from downtown. Thanks so much for this video :)
Would be interesting to hear some stats on the towns you’re visiting. (Population, average temp., crime, main business, cost of homes). Well done!! You have the perfect voice and cadence (reminds me of the Waltons), just need a better camera.
