@@B.E.H. aahh! He was testing a thermocamera. He wanted to test it with a short that draws only 100mA. Instead finding a short that draws only 100mA he could just reduce the injected voltage till the short draws 100mA. Ohm's law. Make sense?
High res image definitely looks nice! Although after comparing all 3, it seems that the regular compact is more than enough to do the job. Just need a macro lens for it
Can you do a comparison of the new Klein Tool thermal camera for phones vs the Seek which is at the same exact price point. No one on TH-cam has done a comparison video yet. There is also on made by Flir that is twice as expensive.

thanks. ive got an xr used for 185€ its VERY narrow fov makes it bad. its better for outdoors. You didnt mention the cameras doing a clicking noise every 2-4 seconds (3:003:03 for example) and freezing the video as it clicks. seen it in other videos. did all three cams have that clicking?
when you demonstrated it I only saw you adjusting your stand so it would easy for me to assume the lens was not properly adjusted, if you set it before the video that's fine. your stand is very interesting a coworker does component repair if you have a source for that stand please provide. thanks for the video.

i dont think that will work. I use a separate dedicated iPhone 7 Plus for my thermal camera use. I would recommend you do the same. Don't use your personal phone for it. Cheaper than buying a new camera for USB C
I picked up the Seek Compact for home diy stuff like air sealing. Its interesting and will take some practice, but its not as sensitive as I thought it would be. I really wish they offered the hi-lo limit set like on the Pro because the constant changing of the gradient makes it hard to spot stuff like hot pipes or slightly warm wirres in walls. It does reveal how bad my insulation is tho :( I wish I had the budget to test the Flir One right now too.
If I have a female lightning to USB C adapter can I use the iOS seek pro with a google pixel? Is the connection the only thing that determines what unit you view with or is the software different for iOS and Android?

Great question. I've used the first gen Qianli Supercam and it was ok. the problem is the lack of a macro lens option, so you basically have to look at the board very far away. So it's not practical for finding shorts. You can definitely see where the heat is and in many cases see it. But sometimes, it's hard to tell which cap exactly is the short. Plus it's a lot more expensive than a Seek + Macro + Stand and it's a lot bigger & bulkier, requires a PC & can be tricky to setup The seek solution i show in the video is a much better overall solution for thermal detection on iPhone/iPad logic board fault finding.
Don't buy Seek thermal cameras. They are garbage. Two I owned stopped working and the one my tech had failed on HIM! That's 3 out of 3 that I've seen - FAIL. Wasted money, people.

YOU GOT SCAMMED....Seek Thermal has a warning on their website that the Compact PRO is NOT sold on Amazon. Those are FAKES. Its a Compact or Compact XR in a fake box with Pro outer housing. You can only buy a CompactPro via Seek Thermal or an authorized store that doesn't put them on Amazon. You got scammed.

I'm not sure. I see used XR on amazon for $167USD right now. And i dont like the XR due to the long focal length compare to the Seek Compact

the XR is capable of focusing from a few inches to hundreds of feet I use mine for search and rescue and to inspect breakers.
It's great for that type of application. But not for component level diagnosing like what we do at my shop

Yes all Seek cameras do the clicking noise. It's normal.
If you take a picture with one of the Seek IR-Camaras, is there a temperature legend with min an max temperature on the pictures?
Good question. I'm not sure. Never had to use that feature.

Yes I did adjust it. It won't focus if you're too close without a macro lens.

Yes it should. But I've never used it for that so I can't say if it's any good for that use case.
