    I loved watching Shirley Temple when I was a child. I had no idea that this movie was made when my mother was TWO.
    The movies are so timeless!

      But with so much talent also comes with great misery. Poor girl..her whole career was sexualized by pervy men and her innocence was long gone. RIP.

    Shirley Temple co-starred and danced with an army of seasoned lifelong professionals who cut their teeth in Vaudeville.....and held her own! Truly a remarkable talent.

    If I were a doctor I would prescribe watching this video once a day for just about any condition you might have. Or more than once. I just read Child Star, Shirley's autobiography, and she writes that the film crew gave her and George a round of applause after this dance, and they ended up doing the whole thing over, orchestra and all, just for fun. I can believe it. This is one of her best!

    I'm in awe of Astair and Kelly. But I think I more enjoy watching George Murphy dance. Of course he's not an average guy - but he reads as your relative or neighbor who possesses a surprising flair for dancing. On top of the talent, they both come across as very likable. What a delightful clip!

    For those who get into that silly discussion: the story that Shirley Temple was in contention for the role of Dorothy of the (1939) "Wizard off Oz", is just not true. This clip dates from 1938 when Shirley Temple was about age 9; she had neither the vocal range nor the acting range that 16 year old Judy Garland brought to the role.

    • @topogigio2879
      @topogigio2879 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unlike Astaire and Kelly, he was tall (5'11") and built like a linebacker, so his gracefulness always comes as a surprise, no matter how many times you've seen him. Unfortunately, he was already 36 when he made this movie, so the golden age of movie musicals kind of eluded him. Unlike the others, he moved into character acting and then politics, both quite successfully.
