I don’t speak Arabic and my teacher told me that if the quran talks about hellfire cannot be recited in happy mood. Similarly when quran talks about heavens we cannot recite in sad mood. Now I know the proper term is maqam.

Sheikh Saeed Gharsuddin of Toronto recited the Quran with some of the best halal maqamat I’ve ever heard in my life.
I didn’t know he was using maqamat for twenty years until I watched this video!
Thank you for producing this video Shaikh Yasir!

Ya sheikh , I actually watch only 30 minutes video , if video is more than 30 minutes I used to give a break a day or two then I continue. But this session was very interesting and i couldn’t get up . I enjoyed with lots of knowledge about Quran recitation and really very impressed by both the sheikh. May Allah bless u both with more opportunities to help the Muslim world with beautification of Quran and spread the knowledge of Words of Allah .

5:30 I believe here the shaykh is referring to Shaykh Mohammed al-Helbawy from Egypt, who was a Sufi shaykh of the Shadhili order in Cairo and the lead munshid in the Sufi Chants from Cairo album. Masha'Allah I knew he taught maqamaat but I didn't know he was so renowned for it. If anyone is interested the Sufi Chants From Cairo album was one of the first videos I uploaded to my channel when I started translating videos a year or so ago.

the video was very impressive thank you so much for making this great piece of educational stuff. By the way, the term Sheikh Bakeer used as CHAHARKA (1:01:51) is actually the Persian word چهارگاه (CHAHAR-GAH) which a combination of the word چهار (chahar) which means four and the word گاه (gah) which means the time or period.
another interesting matter is the Maqam Sika, which as I believe is taken from the Persian term سه‌گاه (SEGAH), which is again a combination of two words: سه (se) which means three and the word گاه (gah) which as was mentioned before means time in persian.
it looks to me very fascinating how much the cultural relations get close when Islamic nations are concerned.
I really want Sheikh Bakeer to get familiar with Persian traditional music and I believe the similarities will amaze him.

I wish this session lasted for a lot more time and it would have been better if there was a question and answer session with your studio audience. Great topic. Great cast. Alhumdulillah.
    Thank you. Jazak Allahu khayra.
    Feedback
    1.
    Problem
Horrible jerky interruptions and back and forth between the two.
Almost speaking over each other or actively attempting it.
Talking about nagams, and yet, horribly a-nagmic exchanges.
    Solution
Let it flow. Let the other speak, complete speaking and then some more.
If you have only one hour and the topic is incomplete, schedule another meet up.
Think of these rules and write them up.
Discuss these rules calmly, comfortably, before going live.
    2.
    Problem
    Sheikh Yasir Qadhi
balancing the laptop on his thighs, unsettling.
    Solution
Get a transparent stand, or do the interview without the laptop. Use papers. Easier to hold. Less unsettling.
    3,
    Problem
Sheikh Yasir Qadhi reading from and working with his laptop while the other sheikh spoke.
Irritating, and belittling the importance of the other sheikh's speech.
    Solution
Design it such that there should be no need to look at the laptop or the sheet of paper.
Focus on the face of the speaker as he speaks. Give physical visual importance to what he’s saying as well.
Together it’ll all in high likelihood make for a better interview.

    سبحان الله.
How will Allah SWT recite Qur'an, the inventor of the hardware and software for voice, frequency, tone, pitch, volume, cadence and quality.
Who invented, the mind, soul and brain and perceptions and consciousness.
Who gave the innate ability to perceive sound give it flavours, meanings, interpretation and use it for thoughts, reasoning and expressions.
Who gave the ability to the birds to sing and dance.
Who created matter with innate frequency.
Who will warn with the ending by a frequency of sound that reaches, every creation small and large.
Who will destroy everything He created with a sound of frequency that would shatter every creation.
Who will rebuild creation with a word and sound.
Who taught Adam the words after giving him the ability to perceive sounds, have memory, recall and express in different ways.

Does anyone know good academic books for arguing that early Islamic violence was justified, like in the raids and battles etc. I want to see the best arguments from that direction against critics.

Dear Abu Ammar, please adopt the traditional Asian dresses instead of European ones. Traditional Asian clothing is closer to Islam ( though it's not mandatory).
I'm your fan, as I'm almost finishing listening to your Seerah series 1 by 1.

Nonsense. As long as you're within the Shariah you can dress as you like. To see Asian clothing is closer to Islam is an insult to the rest of the clothing within the Shariah.

maqamat is only ok as long its fully in accordance with tajweed and has no exaggeration or full focus on how each individual word sounds and how its read with what "lengthening" and how "high" or "low" . Ask any actual scholar of Quran and tajweed about maqamat and they will tell you stay far away from it and from learning it using the musical scale or learning it using the way of musicians with musical rthyms and tapping. Maqamat is not the same as beautifying your voice, your voice and style of reciting is unique and you should recite like that (the natrual "maqam" you have) without exaggeration or using melodies or extreme change which takes the focus away from the actual meaning of the Quran but only focuses on how it sounds and how that makes you feel!
This has been repeated by scholars throughout time

Noble of Dr. Yasir Qadhi to provide the brother a platform to express, defend his/shared viewpoint (s). I don't think a clear the distinction between Opera singers, Catholic Choir Boys and the direction certain elements of the ummah are taking the recitation of the Quran has been made. It doesn't help when the brother starts "singing" (crescendo) different notes to warm his voice :-/

True, but neither Shaykh Yasir Qadhi nor Shaykh Bakeer are of the belief that all bid'ah - such as maqamaat - is haram. You should direct this to comment to the najdi reciters who follow the cult of Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab and insist that all innovation is haram but still use echo in their mic systems and digital mus'hafs (or mus'hafs at all for that matter, which were a bid'ah hasanah by Uthman RA).
