When my husband was telling me about this performance I remember thinking “thats a weird combination” then i watched it and was like damn i want more!!!! Lol they compliment each other so well

On paper, I would never put JT and Chris together on a stage. As you said, their styles are just so different, but my goodness, this is an amazing performance. From what I understand, we Have Morgan’s Stapleton to thank for it. Chris was nervous about doing a song on such a big stage (nationwide audience as well as the folks in the house), so Morgan’s suggested he call his buddy JT and ask him to come along - and magic was created.

Drink You Away is Justin's song on his 20/20 Experience part 2 album. No Stapleton on the studio version. To think this was the opening act of the CMA's that night. They should have just ended the show after it started.

Hands down the best live collaboration performance, the voice blend so well together and JT even giving signals to the band to give us a little something.
One of best things about the CMAs, all of the audience members singing and recording it.. Are other famous country artists. They are fans of their peers. It's awesome.
I hope that was the last performance of the night, imagine having to follow a performance like that gonna be some hurt feelings.
Chris has such a soulful voice. He’s also got that rasp he can throw in there too.
Chris Stapleton wrote songs for other people but he was still singing/performing in 2 other bands--Steeldrivers & the Jompson Brothers.
He always sang. He was in a bluegrass band and a rock band before he made it, but he did feed his family by writing songs for other country artists that weren’t even in the same stratosphere as him as a singer

Give me ALL of the Chris Stapleton/Justin Timberlake collaborations. They're both phenomenal singers and songwriters, just different, but the two of them together is MAGIC. And I'll be honest.....Tennessee Whiskey was great, but I Drink You Away was BALLISTIC!!!
