Following the Olivier award-winning success of her poignant Flight Pattern, the extraordinary imagination of Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite is demonstrated again in two works created for Nederlands Dans Theater and performed for the first time by The Royal Ballet. The shadowy depths of human nature and boardroom politics are explored in the riveting dance-drama of The Statement.

How unique and shockingly expressive.
It messes with my mind! Brilliant. Avant-garde. And SO contemporary. Who even knew, could use...is amazing.
Genius choreography incredibly performed. And you can feel the pride and sense of artistic accomplishment of these dancers through their social networks. They know they danced something special.
I've been looking for the full version video for YEARS. Does anybody know where it is?
I have seen it !many times, especially the performance of the Nederlands Danstheater, and each time I cannot hide my feelings of admiration
So brilliant. It's wonderful choreography. It really makes the point that language is rythmic in a way that can even lend itself to dance - without the close-ups you would swear the dancers are talking - and, I suppose that's the point. They are talking, sending the real messages beneath words intended to keep a lid on it, to intimidate and cover up. Fantastic. Here's hoping the Royal stream it at some point.

I loved this piece BUT the lighting needs to be corrected the next time this go on stage. We can barely make out what the dancers are doing when they get slightly away from the table. And in a conversation you need clarity to understand the message. Not saying to turn all the lights on, just more exposure to the dancers.
The lighting was the best part tho

Someone needs to fix the lighting ASAP
Very similar to a piece she did with a theatre group called The Revisor - love to see she's done more with it. However, the lighting is not great here, I don't know if thats because of how it was done on stage or if thats just video quality.
I want so badly to show my students this complete work. Does anyone know how or where I can find it?
