    Nice video! Catching stockers is a blastt and it's great you've broken the skunk streak!

      Thanks Zham, and oh boy did it feel good getting my first of 2022!

    Nice. It is a great feeling when everything comes together and produces. Congrats on ending the streak.

      @@RosinFlyFishing it has been trying. We get a cool day and a couple warm ones. Spring is coming and so's the fishing season, for me.

    You got there, through perseverance. I like that nymph you were using, cool.

      Hopefully I'll have more fish in the net in less than 3 months from now :)

    Hell yeah brother! Such a good feeling!
    Love the scenery there. The way the treegs border the water so closely is really cool!

      Whoop! It's a pretty place to get rekt most days 😆

    Glad you got one! Always glad to help! I'm going to be doing more of the stillwater stuff once they open up here as well.

      Me too! I think my retrieves were too fast so I think next time I'll slow it down even more and try to systematically approach things. I cut out a lot but I tried your glassy midge, baetis, and a copper john, but I think the fish just went deeper than I was fishing since the rises slowed down :)

      @@RosinFlyFishing that's a tough spot to fish since the water gets over 16 feet deep and as you experienced fishing an indicator makes for a tough roll cast. You could try a small sized chironomid indicator to make casting easier?

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iancollings5047 I have thingmabobbers that are quite light weight - I could try those. Speaking of spots, any tips on another spot away from the dock I could try out with the indicator midge nymphing?

    Looks like a nice spot. Definitely has to feel good to put all of the pieces together to get one to bite. Great video.

    Love to see the symbol of America flying high in Canada! Lol, all jokes aside, what another gorgeous place with amazing wildlife around. Going from moving water to still is definitely a mind switch, I am jealous of those who have mastered still waters. Glad to see you got into one, hopefully you and your wife enjoyed the meal.

      This is the more rare and prestigious Canadian Eagle! 🦅🇨🇦 And it was a tasty bbq snack :). Future stillwater adventures to come!

    Nice. My home lake. Stripping a small dark woolley bugger or leach with sinking line off the dock where you can get a full cast can be quite productive.

      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh it is eh? I'll have to shoot you a message if you want to meet up and have a relaxing chat and fish sometime - if you're into it. How fast and what depth do you like for the retrieve?

    • @iancollings5047

      @@RosinFlyFishing on holiday at the moment but will set up a te to meet when I get back. I usually use a type 3 or even 6 full sink with a fast strip and a size 10 or 12 sparse leech in olive green, black and/or scarlet, with a bead to help it sink. Depth can be variable depening on the day. Sometimes its the top 3 feet like you experienced. However some days I have to use a type 6 and give it a 20 second count to fish very deep before stripping.

      PS. Please note that you can catch similar sized coho as the stocker Fraser Valley trout in rice lake. Most people don't know they are in their and accidently bonk them.

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iancollings5047 yeah I've heard that, are they considered resident coho at that point or do they leave to go out to the ocean? If resident, do the regs require them to be left alone? I would assume so...

    I’d try to slow down your hand twist retreive. One cast should last about 10-12 mins depending on the length of the cast

      Hey dude I really appreciate that feedback! I felt like I was going too fast and it's good to hear it from others to confirm. I'll keep that timeline in mind next time! Hope your fishing is good up your way :)

    • @RosinFlyFishing
      @RosinFlyFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha that would have been cool, but I didn't actually see the eagles target any fish. They might have been full up on the ones that floated after stocked 2 days before... probably a few that didn't make it and made easy meals!
