    Going to pick one of these up today, it is a 2019 with only 800 miles on it, looks like new. I am glad I watched this, seems like a great machine.

    Just bought my first sxs. I got the 800r. Wish I could have got the dps but I still love it. One negative for me is the heat. Inside the cab
    You tube the seat belt hack. No cutting or anything simple simple trick

      Buddy Pinkham yea it does get hot in there. As you can see I use mine mostly for work so the heat isn’t as big of an issue. What do you use yours mostly for?

    Awesome colour, i really dig it.
    I put Dynamat under the centre plastics to reduce the heat and noise on my 800 DPS back in 2014 when i brought it new, it made quite a difference.
    That 800cc has heaps of power, although i'm tempted to get a new one, but a 1000cc LTD this time.

    My dad is the manager for Polaris and I have a rzr 570. It’s a great little machine. My dad traded in a commander 800 dps with the local surf club and it’s terrible all of the steering components are rusted. If the Tyers lost traction for a second the clutch would kick in and he would have to back of. You would have to give it a second for the gears to change after using the ‘shifter’ or what ever cause it delayed

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors

      So far I have not had any troubles out of my machine. It makes the occasional squeaks but that’s to be expected with a machine that gets used for rough work and play.

    I drove a 1000 Commander for the 1st time while on vacation to Greece. It was a tour but ended up being a race up the side of a mountain. The machine is bad ass and you can get sideways when hammering corners. A "tour" like this would never fly in America. It was the most scary and fun UTV intro ever lol.

    Great video. I've been looking to add a 3rd sxs to my stable, and the Commander (1000) is the main one I am considering. Currently have a 2018 Teryx 2 LE and a Mule Pro FXT LE. The only thing I'm concerned about is the DPS. Seems like alot of oversteering is required. My Kawasaki's power steering is speed sensitive and you can turn them with on finger on the trails.

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Psycho Wookiee the Kawasaki teryx and Mule were my next choice of sxs. I even hook up my 6x12 utility trailer and fill it full of limbs and wood and haul it around the property with very little struggle from the utv. I have no real need for the 1000 due to I don’t go as fast 😂

    • @sterlingslawncare8028
      @sterlingslawncare8028 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is 3 modes on the power steering. Min/med/max assist. They are all speed sensitive. I always keep mine on max as mine is used mostly for trails and a lot of lower speeds and going in and out of trees and so forth. But there is 3 modes.

    I'm interested in the 800R DPS and was wondering if it would squeeze on a 5' wide by 9 1/2' trailer. Didn't want to buy another trailer if I could get by with the one I have. Thanks for your comment.

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      fortdixie I know a 5x10 trailer will work for a fact. The length of a 9ft trailer should work to get your wheels on it but depending on the type of gate you have on the back of your trailer the gate may not go up all the way without hitting the tailgate/front bumper of the commander depending on how you load it. If you have the option to take the gate off or your trailer has a lower gate then you should be ok. Hope this helps! Let me know if ya get one!!

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dan Rowles the side mirrors are pretty useful, the rear view mirror/center mirror probably wouldn’t be needed as much unless you ride with groups because you won’t be able to see behind you except for what is above the bed of the sxs. I was thinking today when are they going to start putting back up cameras on the sxs’s 😂 thanks for watching the video and commenting!

    How deep in water can this go? Anything you can buy got make it go deeper?

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With a stock setup I probably wouldn’t go any deeper than the tires unless I just had too. You can add a lift, larger tires, or relocate the air intake in order to go deeper through the water. The air intake is located on the hood of the machine. I personally don’t use mine to go through mud/water and rarely take it on trail rides even. I use mine mostly for work around the farm and hunting. I hope this helps and thanks for watching the videos!

    Hi, hey we bought a Commander XT 1000 this spring and we love it! But it sounds like there's some loose heat shield or something under the center console area between the seats. The guys where we bought it are telling us it's the normal sound on it. But I think there's a heat shield that's not tight or a bolt missing. Does yours have that rattle sound when you start giving it throttle and letting off?????
    There's no way in my mind that should be normal!

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont have a rattle sound. I have less than 50 hours on mine and I have a slight squeak in on of the front wheels just havent gotten around to figuring out what is causing it haha. I would say you are right about the heat shield though or maybe a loose plastic panel? Is it a metal on metal sound?

    • @georgesidelinger8879

    Is the trailer you use to haul the 800r a 5x10 trailer?

      @SouthernPineOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s a 6x12 I believe the trailer I used to bring it home from the dealer was in fact a 5x10 and it barely fit. I went just a little longer to be able to put a cooler or something else on the trailer or just to have room to walk around. I hope this helps and thanks for watching the videos!

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest I have been very pleased with this machine. I use it around my 10 acre property to do work around the yard. I pull a 6x12 trailer with limbs and things like that all the time. I also use it to pull a tow behind bush hog to cut a 4 acre field. So I put it through some unusual stuff. If you are looking for a UTV that is good at trail rides as well as yard/farm work I would say this is the best all around. If you are looking for something just for trails I would go with the razor or maverick since they have the most available aftermarket parts available. If you are looking for one geared more towards farm I would go with the ranger or defender for the same reason for the available accessories and such.
      I hope this helps if I didn’t answer fully let me know!

    How's it working out for you still?

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      silverback765 for my purposes it’s great! I can work around the yard/property then go ride the trails with the boys! It’s really the best of both worlds. I h e driven my fair share of gators, four wheelers, golf carts, and work Utvs to know I wanted something that was comfortable to drive but also versatile. If you did more farm/ranch work I would say get the defender or ranger for sure, but if ya want the in between go with the commander for the price! I hope this helps and thanks for the comment!

      @silverback7659 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SouthernPineOutdoors Thanks for the reply! Do you find it to be noisey and hot in cab? Btw it's dynamic not direct power steering.

    • @SouthernPineOutdoors
      @SouthernPineOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      silverback765 the cab in my opinion is not any louder than any other utv. I will say it does get hot in the cab. This is more noticeable obviously in the summer time. I use mine to pull the tow behind bush hog I have for about 3-4 hours once a month during the summers and I will usually do it at night so it’s not so hot anyways weather wise. I know there are some shields you can get to put behind the inner panels I just haven’t found the justification for me to do that. As long as you are moving the heat doesn’t seem to be much of an issue. The biggest complaint I have with the heat is that the cup holders are basically useless once the machine heats up because the cup holders are right above the engine bay.
      Hope this helps!
