Terrific video about my favorite pencil sharpener. For anyone whom may want to know I color everyday and have had my dahle 133 for over five years. It works just as well as the first day I used it.

Well done video in spite of the hardships you are having with technology...!
Your step-by-step is easy to follow for anyone not familiar with this type of Sharpener.
This will be a great asset to a lot of people.
Again I commend you for your focus on the beginner colorist to help them take their

I actually figured it out on my own because I also have the Carl angel-5 and you pretty much clean it out the same way. The reason I like the dahle 133 is because it doesn’t leave teeth marks on your pencils!! Yay!!

I ordered this today, chiefly because of your review! Someone had said it chewed up their nice pencil edges and I let that worry me for a bit, but I’m taking a leap of faith based on your review as I know you wouldn’t steer us wrong! I will review this video once more when my sharpener arrives to refresh my memory-excited!

I am not sure who told you that, but this sharpener does not chew up any part of the pencil. It sharpens it very nicely to a sharp tip and has various settings so that you can adjust it to your liking. I think you will be happy with this sharpener. I can't wait to hear what you think once you receive yours and get to use it.

Was wondering when watched tutorials and the presenter had such thin points. Especially with the miniatures which I love doing.

I must have been using it properly as I never had any previous problems but …I sure am having some now and I am not using the ultra sharp point either. I am not sharpening as pointy as you sharpened yours. One thing that I do is turn the sharpener around so I can turn the lever with my dominant hand instead of turning backwards like you do but that should not be the cause of the problem. My husband took it apart and no lead was stuck in the mechanism, the leads seem to break in the pencils but remain in the wooden tube…the way you sharpened the blue pencil is pretty much how I sharpen mine., not the last very sharp end as I am a little heavy handed so the first setting was always great for me with no breakage of leads while coloring. I loved the this until this last coloring page that I just did…..

Hi, I also have a dahle 133, and have a question about it. I have been using it for about 2 years now. I was very happy with it, but now I notice that the rubbers in the holder no longer hold the pencil very well. When I start sharpening, the holder pulls in too quickly.
, after 1 turn already. As a result, the pencil doesn't sharpen well enough. Have you experienced something like this before? Do you know what to do? Greetings from the Netherlands.

Hello Pamela, after watching this video, i purchased the dahle 133 on Amazon for £8 very good price. I already have the dahle 155 and I am very happy with it. I know how to use these sharpeners, and was not happy when it did not stop sharpening!!!, and it would have carried on if I didn't stop. The 155 automatically stops when the pencil is sharp. Is the 133 supposed to stop too? I came to the conclusion that i only have to turn it twice to get a good point, so I am doing that now. If you know why it is not stopping when it has sharpened the pencil, could you please let me know. Thank you Kevin UK

    • @PamelasPassionforPencils
      @PamelasPassionforPencils  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi Kevin, it seems that it is different for every pencil. When I sharpen my Pablos, it stops automatically, but with my Prismacolors, on the sharpest setting I stop it myself. I assume that it would keep going to what it thinks is the sharpest lead if I allowed it. I just know exactly when I want to stop. Maybe if you play with the silver dial and put it half way.

I used my Dahle correctly from the beginning, but I do have two issues with it. Firstly, sometimes it doesn't grip the pencil, it glides over and only sharpens it a little bit before it's closed. The pencil also turns inside the grip. Secondly, most of the time I can feel that it stops sharpening, but sometimes it just keeps eating my pencil 😢 I use Polychromos and Prismacolors. Any ideas?

Hi Rita, so many people had trouble with the pencil sharpener and actually thought theirs was broken just to discover the same thing. That's why I made this video. I am so glad it was helpful. Have a wonderful day.

What is the difference between the personal and professional on Amazon? The pro is cheaper

Their professional sharpeners are much more heavy duty. They do have steel grips on them that grip onto your pencils though. If you don't want marks on your pencils, then I would stick to the Dahle 133. It's fabulous, sharpens every pencil in my collection, including square and hexagonal, and it doesn't have "teeth" that hold your pencil in place. Happy Coloring!

@@PamelasPassionforPencils I use the School Smart electric sharpener from Amazon. You just stick your pencil in the top and it sharpens like a dream and has a huge reservoir for collection and easy to clean.

@@shaustin22 can you adjust the tip size and sharpness with the electric sharpener? I like using Prismacolors with a long sharp point.

Also there were no instructions....so using it is a struggle. I paid $19.99 and it is worth every cent.

Yes! This is one of the reasons I made this video. Their sharpeners all come without instructions.

The coloring community has made this sharpener's price double, it's kind of not fair.
Looking at my amazon orders right now I bought one in Sept 2020 for $11 and now it's about $20.

It’s most likely because of the high demand. I spoke to Dahle and they have trouble keeping it in stock.
