I don't think many people are gonna want to walk around with a box and a bunch of wires on their head and the sounds might get annoying fast, also is it even water proof with the exposed wires? Not to mention this seems like something that will take a lot more training like a white cane, espically white canes I've seen that has a similar purpose with the sound mechanism plus extra features

I like the idea, my question is how does it handle cross-walk signs to let you know when it is safe to cross. Some places have an annunciator to let you know when it is safe to cross. Some are a spoken voice others are some kind of sound that is emitted from the direction of your destination. I would like to see how this would be implemented here in the states.

The white cane is very useful and hard to replace with an electronic device. If it aint broke dont fix it.
