  • In this video we show that winter wild camping in West Sussex is easily doable. We wild camp at Duncton viewpoint, visit Boxgrove Priory in West Sussex, take a look at the Weald & Downland museum from the air, we tell you about King Canute at Bosham and take a walk around Bosham and a walk around Chichester town centre to see the christmas lights.

    Always pickup a few free papers in town, when it's heavy rain, then put them on the van floor when you step in, dry off you shoe soles, put all the damp papers into a sealed plastic bag. Helps cut down the condensation, when you put your heater on. There's also an anti-fog product you can buy called rain-x that you put on your window interiors, that stop them fogging up. If you leave your windows open behind the rain guards, the van will dry out pretty quickly without fogging up.

    Hi Ken & Carol, I would just like to say that I have watched a lot of your videos now & what you produce is always a delight to watch. You show us some beautiful places to visit, the videos are always very informative & always so positive. You both also have wonderfully calming voices, especially Ken, when he does the voice overs; this, coupled with the video content & creativeness - the drone shots especially - always with perfectly chosen music to accompany them, creates such a wonderfully relaxing & calming mind - so ‘thank you both so very much’. I love to watch how the van functions & how you have adapted to get maximum benefit from such a small space. 10/10! Thanks again both & I look forward to many more 👍

      Hi Jackie. You certainly should get a drone and the new Mavic Mini 2 would be perfect for you. Seeing as you have a farm it would have several uses besides film making. You can use them to inspect roofs, check on livestock, look down on woods and all sorts of good stuff. With a bit of practice I don’t think you will have any problems learning to fly the drone at all and you have plenty of space at the house to do it safely. Once you get confidence that you can fly it ok then the rest quickly follows 👍

    Well that was very enjoyable , the next time i am back in the UK i think I may take a trip to Bosham it looks very interesting love the old church , you said one of the oldest in England must be going back to Anglo Saxons times. I was born just outside Newent if you are back in that area some lovely old churches there Pauntley Church is where Dick Whittington was born , also Upleadon church has Saxsons parts also a beautiful Tudor tower which is quite rare and last but not least is old St Mary's in Kempley very interesting place pink walls on the outside and all the inside walls are covered with frescoes , Dymock is well worth a trip to walk the wood to see all the Daffodils and then later the bluebells . Keep the videos coming love them in the morning with my coffee. Take care .

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, Holy Trinity church in Bosham dates back to Saxon times and is also depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry because King Harold visited the church before his ill-fated trip to Normandy in 1064. We have made a note of the places you have mentioned and will hopefully get to visit them when we are next in that part of the country so thanks for the tips 👍🙂

    Now you've gorn an' dun it and made me proper homesick. Chichester area is home to my family. Mostly all gone now. Of my generation there is just two cousins left , one in Chichester and one in Littlehampton. I love Singleton Weald and Downland Museum. It puts a lump in my throat every time I watch the repair shop on the TV. How are you getting on with your wooll duvet ? I have the mattress cover on my bed as well. Hope you find it as cosy as I do.

    Nice northerly view there but also a great spot to eat a Kebab from the Petworth Kebab van. Quality food, reasonable prices. Interesting local history including an accessible nuclear war monitoring post just a 250 m walk uphill from there and a super church 3 mins south on the road. (better place to sleep). The local windmill is a nice walk and includes one of the best green tunnels in the Uk. Interesting fact.... There are more brothels in Petworth than any other town in the southeast of England.

      I think the only thing I was aware of Stu was that Church you mentioned. You can tell me in the next episode if its the one you meant. We saw a windmill near there but couldn’t see a way to reach it. We will have to go back and see it. I love a good kebab so I am distraught to learn we were near one and missed out 😁. Now you tell me about the brothels 😏👍

    Wild camping = Tent, Sleeping bag, Airmat, small stove, food, first aid kit , and anything you care to carry in your Rucsac, not a specially adapted van, How on earth can you justify calling the title, Wild Camping, last time I walked and camped along the Pennine way ,over Kinder Scout I didnt have the pleasures of McDonalds or a Sainsburys, everything on my back, however yes I must agree its a very interesting video, and very informative, but one thing it certainly is not is " Wild Camping "

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I couldn’t agree more but that is what people call it and if you want the video to be seen you have to use the term that people search for. The only other names I have heard used are boon docking or freedom camping but they are not well used. Anyway the fact there is a big red camper on the thumbnail makes it pretty clear what its about so I doubt people are expecting a tent on Dartmoor 😏😁👍

    There is a blanket ban on overnighting in National trust car parks and also drone flying is banned covered by bylaws are you advocating breaking the law or do you have SPECIAL permeation, I have asked many times and always refused.

    • @LifeistooshortCK

      Maybe thats your mistake John, if you ask permission all the time you are very likely to be told no. In my view asking for forgiveness is often a more successful policy. Not aware we actually stayed in any national trust car parks on this trip but we have done so in the past. As for blanket bans on drone flying I have no idea what you are talking about there.
      Forgot to add the last I heard the National Trust is also about to trial allowing people to stay in their car parks following a successful campaign by a national motorhome group.

      @@johnandjackietidmarsh7433 staying overnight where its not permissible is a personal choice. The risk of a fine is just an occupational hazard that sometimes I am prepared to take. I draw the line at the risk of being clamped.
      As for flying at NT properties I accept you cannot fly without permission ON their property but there is nothing to stop you flying adjacent to their property. Once in the air as long as you abide by the drone laws I see no problem at all.
      The best shots are often some distance from the subject and filming in 4K and zooming in the edit gets me close enough for my needs.
