Bognor Regis-Winter Wild Camping Sussex
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 28 พ.ย. 2024
- Time to get out in the little red camper for a couple of nights winter wild camping. We are back in Sussex, staying local to us because of the unpredictable weather.
Our first stop after brunch at Burger King is Bognor Regis to see the remains of part of the Mulberry Harbour destined for Normandy on D Day.
We enjoy a stroll through Marine Park Gardens and a walk around the pier then it’s time for cake!
As it gets dark we explain the “double move” manoeuvre for stealth camping.

You are right to enjoy the moment and wait with the editing afterwards. Takes the stress away. Looking forward to your next adventure 😁
Totally agree 😁
@@maryt2422 👍👋
Thanks Anita 🙂
I agree. You’re self proclaimed van travellers, with bricks and mortar too, not permanent van lifers, so it makes sense to maximise the fun while you are out and about and do the editing at your leisure later. Plenty of different ways of doing the TH-cam van thing - all perfectly valid 😀
@@koolubahtree7195 👍
Can't believe some TV channel not snapped you up, better than any travel programme,
Aww, thanks Linda ☺️
I never really thought about how long it takes to edit each episode ken ,but yes you deserve to enjoy your trips that's what your van is for to enjoy yourselves. I'm very grateful tho that you do upload your road trip vlogs for our entertainment. Thoroughly enjoy them thank you both. 😀
Thanks for that Neil, much appreciated. Best wishes to you and Rose 🙂👍
I love watching your adventures but you should enjoy them as well.I don't mind they are worth the wait.
Thanks Carole 🙂👍
Just discovered your travelogue, enjoying your Sussex adventures. My grandfather, 2 greatuncles & 2 of my aunties lived in Bognor Regis from early 1950s after moving from Sefter Farm in 1943 and lived at Westerton.
Welcome to our channel and thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed our visit to Bognor Regis 🙂
Great little winter trip. Definitely agree that leaving the editing for later is a good idea. We have found that social media can consume far too much time and often there’s precious little of it left to enjoy the tour. Really enjoyed this Vlog 😃🚐👍🏻 Trev
Thanks Trev. All best wishes to you and Sue 😀👍
👍👍👍I am so glad you are taking your trips, and enjoying them. It take a toll to work everyday on your trip. It is a pleasure to watch you both travel in your little red camper.😂
Thank you so much. We appreciate your support 🙂👍
I am much more in favour of charity shops than fast fashion shops. It is great to buy pre-loved second- hand clothes rather than cause more and more clothes to be bought, worn twice and then sent to landfill sites. Lovely to see you out and about on carefully selected days without whinging about the winter weather!🚙
Except they aren't going to landfill sites, they are going to charity shops. If no clothes were bought new, worn twice and 'thrown out' (ie donated), charity shops wouldn't have any to sell! :-)
Great to leave the editing for the boring days back at home. 👍
Bang on 👍 enjoy your jolly then post it whenever
It’s still the same viewer experience and better for you
No brainier. Happy travels 😃
Thanks for that 🙂👍
Finally caught up with stuff here to be able to catch up on your lovely videos.
That’s good. Hope you can have a bit of a rest now 😀
Loved this . Thankyou for sharing - as for the cafe ….. well as long as they serve good coffee I’m not sure if care !!!
Safe travels
Thanks for watching, you too 🙂👍
Absolutely good decision I dont mind waiting...cheers from Chile
Thanks Jane 🙂👍
Omg I love the way she took pictures with water, that's beautiful ❤️ your both such a joy to watch. Keep posting..... Missouri💙
Thanks Julia 🙂👍
Those bubbles made me laugh! Strange, unusual sight of the sand swirled or indented in large portions and quite evenly all along the beach. I have not seen that type of formation before.
If you are happy, we are happy. I can, and do, watch your videos over again once or twice 😊
Thanks Lorri. You are so kind 😀👍
Great video....🙂👍🌻 Very good ticket tips btw👍
I love the quaint English villages with cottages and such beautiful scenery! Thank you for sharing your travels.
You’re welcome Candace. Thanks for watching 🙂
Hi Ken and Carol,
Another great vid, you even managed to make Bognor look desirable. (Joke). Hope you’re keeping well. Thanks for all your efforts. John L
Cheers John 🙂👍
Nice Vlog Ken and Carol. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching 😄👍
Thanks for ye vlogs. I really enjoy them.
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Very nice (1st) picture, Carol! Well captured!! The colors, lines, swirls of the clouds and swirls of the
water..... 🌟
Thanks Daisy Mae 🙂
Ahoy Me Buckos! .) Haha, always the same mindset! So much fun! My little brother and I had Burger King as our spot back in the days, and after I became vegetarian he was upset that I can't enjoy it again with him. When BK came up with 2 veggie options (Rebel and Veg Burger) he was thrilled and took me there like a knight after a good old triumph! :D Feast, it was, bloody green feast! XD Lovely beach and town, the garden has most definitely seen better days. My eyes began to thirst for Carol's cake! XD Keep going my dear folks, I'm catching up! :) bear hugs from your Captain of the good old Blackthorne
You are doing well on the catch up 😁 Don’t think we will ever be vegetarian, the BK cheeseburger is so delicious 🤤 Thanks for watching 👩✈️⛴😀❤️
Glad you are getting more fun out of being away by not uploading on the hoof. It is lovely to look forward to Fridays for a treat of Carol and Ken after a long hard week. x
Thank you Sarah 🙏
I always appreciate your shots. You and Carol make a good team.
Thanks so much Clara 🙂👍
Hi Carol and Ken absolutely love your sussex trips you two are Brilliant together and look after each very well absolutely love your chemistry with each other.
Aww thanks Maggie. That’s very kind of you ☺️
Enjoyed your overview of my home Town!!! I’m in Aldwick… shame we didn’t see you..
Glad you enjoyed it. Would have been good to meet you 🙂👍
Thanks again for another lovely tour in your beautiful country. 🙂
You’re welcome Chris. Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Lovely vlog loved seeing Bognor on the screen & the naming of it, so funny. Your choice of music Sweatervest is so lovely 🥰
Another great video, love following your adventures can’t wait for your Next adventures. Stay safe and well x
Lovely photography Carol. It's nice to see some of the old buildings preserved. The beaches look amazing, I've never been to bognor Regis, think I need to visit.
Well worth a visit Sheila. Thanks for watching 🙂
Another excellent vlog as always👍Thank you!
Thanks Alana 🙂👍
Only 3 episodes to go and I’ll have caught up😭. Have so enjoyed watching 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5) episodes each evening. Thank you Carol and Ken for these wonderful vlogs. I endorse every positive comment made about them and appreciate the time and effort it must take to produce them….best wishes from beautiful Shropshire.
Wow, that is dedication. Thank you so much for watching. Hope you enjoy the latest episode from Bridgnorth 😀
Love Sweatervest by Logan. Cheers
Cheers Frank. Hope you are well ❤️
Another wonderful video of your adventures. I have been going over some of your older videos that I have missed and really enjoying them, as I am stuck at home on my own with covid. Your videos have kept me sane and entertained. Thank you . Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for watching and glad you are enjoying our content. Hope you are feeling better soon. Take care 🙂
I’ve only been to Bognor once, in 1967 as a lad the family had a week at Butlins. A great time was had. 😀
That must have been a great holiday when Butlins was in its heyday 🙂👍
Ah my Birthday!! Just enjoy and post when you can!! Love all the food stops x
Thanks Sue. Happy Birthday 🎉😁
Good idea with the editing. Some people hire others to do it so it is a tricky business!
I also absolutely hate it when footage doesn't come out. So disappointing.
Lovely drone shots again.
Hope you're enjoying some spring weather now
Hi, hope you are both well. We have been lapping up the sunshine for the last couple of days while it lasts 😀☀️ Take care x
Lovely way to start a Saturday morning yiu two. Really enjoyed that one ✅✅
Thanks Mal & Dave and not forgetting Sally the Lab ☺️👍
Enjoyed the history on the pontoon and the Royal connection to the town. Your healthy carrot cake looked delicious Carol. Hope you had a peaceful night after your stealthy preparations! Xx
Thanks Louise, glad you enjoyed it. You will see the morning after in the next episode 😉😀👍
I have only just started to watch your videos, so I am trying to catch up on them all. I love the calming way that you do them and can't wait for the next one. I was born in England, Bristol actually but came to Canada with my family when I was only five so I don't remember anything about England. I have many cousins there and only got back there in 2011. I enjoy the beautiful scenery and especially the history, so keep up the good videos, can't wait for the next one. Thanks so much.
Thanks Ronda 👍
Thanks for sharing this video. That cement boat really tells the history of the effort made there. !:- )
Yes enjoy your trip first.
Omg I so wish I had known you was coming to Bognor Regis I would had the kettle on for you 🥰🥰🥰
👍🥰👍🥰
Thanks! Loved the music selection.
Thanks for watching 👍🙂
Great video & Carol getting better with the camera on each trip, looking forward to the next video on this trip take care 🙂
Thanks Lee 🙂👍
Great to drop the editing for after a trip 👍🏼 I totally agree, it’s quite stressful & time consuming trying to do it all & enjoy some down time at the same time.
Lovely to be able to be out and about enjoying life in the quiet winter months a little bit of sunshine this time of year perks you up..we've had our roof done just before the storms thank goodness 😊 hope you've been able to get yours sorted thanks for a enjoyable watch 👍
Thanks Sue. Our roof is now fixed and survived the last storm, thank goodness 😅
Another great, thank you. 😊
Very relaxing to watch . Thank you hx
Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Enjoy this ,as my family come from Sussex area....another great vlog.
Thanks Susan🙂
Lovely little trip, great weather, fantastic drone footage, relaxing music and interesting history facts !!!! Thanks for sharing, keep safe....
Thanks Diana 🙂
What a sunset!
I enjoy your videos.
Great video, and yep, editing can wait enjoy the time your there.
Holidayed in Bognor Butlins in the ‘60s. Not that I can remember much as very young
Thanks Mandy. They must have been great holidays at Butlins in the heyday of the 60’s 😀

OH don't get me started on tradesman who seem not to want one's business...
Yeah, definitely good to take in the trip for your own pleasure then share it at leisure. What's the hurry some folk seem to have?! Now I am hungry watching all your munchings... tea time! YAM xx
Thanks YAM. Thankfully our roof is now fixed but why does it have to be so hard to find good trades people these days? 🙂
Hello Ken / Carol Thant was a nice road trip and pleasant weather for Feb, that was interesting you said about a recipe for disaster people crossing on roundabouts , come to BC every road that enters the roundabout has a crosswalk and its madness you end up with 2 or 3 cars stopped in the middle I can't believe they have brought that law in there . Have a great weekend take care thanks .
Yet another move to make life more difficult for the motorist. Thanks for watching 🙂
You’re absolutely right Ken. We tried editing during a longer trip once but it wasn’t enjoyable and I rushed the editing process too so, enjoy your trips and then create some magic 🤩
Thanks for the supportive comment, much appreciated 😀👍
A great video with some lovely photography and I’m so glad that you seem to have dodged the rain! I think your decision not to edit when you travel is a good one. I certainly don’t mind that the content takes a while because you always post videos regularly so it really makes no difference to my enjoyment if your channel. Thanks again for sharing a really interesting video.
Thanks Sylvia. We were lucky to get a few days of continuous sunshine in January and fortunately we could just pack the little red camper and go 😀👍
This was a great video. What a fabulous beach.
Thanks Larry 🙂👍
I don’t mind waiting for you to edit later instead of at the moment it’s been filmed. A fine trip it looks to be. The drone footage is almost always my favorite. Hope you’re enjoying spring weather! Mary
Thanks Mary. Yes the weather has been really good these last few days 🌞😀👍
Enjoyed this video both as ever ..... making me think about our forthcoming trips and approach so thanks for sharing your thoughts. Never being to Bognor so thanks for sharing it looked a great place to meander ... another destination to the list. Loved the military history one of my interests ... Thanks guys take care Stew n Jane
Cheers guys. Looking forward to your next video 👍
This is my area, great to see it x
Another great vlog!! Definitely agree to leave the editing until you get home means you enjoy your adventures more. Hope both of you are well, take care
Nice👌👌👌Like allways. Regards❤❤
Thanks Rosi 🙂
Lovely.xx
It's great to see videos from places you know well. I drive through Storrington a lot. Good to see that you can wild camp closer to home
Enjoyed that drive, wander and information on Bognor, thank you. Never been down that way before. Also I've never used so many drive throughs before as I have since getting the van! So convenient sometimes.
Thanks Sue. You will have to come down South for a visit in Vanya 🙂 Agree about the drive throughs 😀👍
@@LifeistooshortCK Thanks, yes I’ll definitely be down there some time 😊👍🏻
I mean I really enjoy your weekly videos, but that’s because you seem to love doing them, so if you ever need to take a break or spread them out more, I’ll still be here watching & liking them.. :)
Thank you Stephen, that’s really kind of you 😀👍
I enjoyed my outing
so many places so much to see, you done so much
walking dont your legs get
tired.
carrot cake is that made
with carrots , I have never had , but it would need to be gluten dairy wheat free.
every where you go is beautiful.
stay safe.
Hi Moira. We don’t really walk very far and always stop when our legs get tired ☺️ Yes, carrot cake is made with carrots and you can probably buy gluten free ones. Take care ❤️
Best thing I did was move to Bognor, love it,I’m 2 minutes from west park and hotham park is excellent, unfortunately some folks are never satisfied!
We enjoyed our time there 🙂👍
At least it was not Rotten Ronald's for the burgers. Great drone shots yet again.
Thanks John 🙂👍
@@LifeistooshortCK A walking tour of your home town? Your food haunts etc. See you at dart night at the pub? LOL Gas is getting expensive here too.
I went to this beautiful seaside about 10 years ago.
ILovely vlog as always, that cake was a fair old size wasn’t it, very generous 👍 Thanks for sharing & hope you’re both well xx
Carol loves a slice of cake 😁 Thanks for watching 🙂👍
@@LifeistooshortCK one of the great things about travelling around in a camper van, is sampling local hospitality & the cake 🍰😁 But not according to my scales 😳 Em xx
@@vansforthememories know what you mean Em 😀x
For just a split second, I thought it was you two going in the sea at the end!!
😂😂😂
Good for you, Mr. Ken! Heck yeah you make the decisions, & a decision to enjoy your time more & be there for your life partner is always the right choice! 💯% support from your biggest Central Floridian fan! 😂💜
PS i heard your BBC notification in the video & thought it was mine🤣 carrot cake & coffee Charlie Brown is killing me!!🤣🤣 yum 😋
Yes she now needs to find a piece of cake to beat that record 😁👍
Carol - an excellent choice with the hot chocolate / carrot cake combination - I often go for that myself (most other, sweeter cakes, I prefer to pair with tea 😊). I’ve yet to come across a 2.06m height barrier as you showed towards the end - that would clear our Paradise Compact by a full 2cm 😳… Not sure I’d be brave enough (at least not on my own, without someone to get out and check 😂). Thanks for another great video 😊
Thanks for watching Lucy. We have only found one height barrier we couldn’t get under and that was in France. Luckily most of them are 2m or over which is OK for us ☺️
Carol caught a great picture of the water drops.
It is nice where you are
Thanks Haroon 🙂
Life is so
Short be happy be travel
@Life is too shprt
What a wonderful place, I am going mad I did not know about it when I had a walking club down in Chichester, I would just drop them off in the morning someplace and had the rest of the day to myself. I went over to Worthing twice. I would have loved to vistt there. I love that piece of music when the drone was up. Just before the coffee shop and cake. I can't seem to find it. What is the name of it Ken?
In Waterford there was a coal merchant used a ship made of Cement to bring coal from I think Wales years ago. I believe it was built to sink in German-controlled ports. Lovely video again as usual.
We used to go to Bognor a lot when we had a caravan on a seasonal pitch there but only found out about the section of Mulberry Harbour while researching this trip! That music track is
Sweatervest by Logan Pilcher 🙂
@@LifeistooshortCK Thank you so much Ken. It is a beautiful piece of music and lyrics. Love the harmonies near the end. I remember hearing it once before when you were after looking at some donkey's and fell in love with it. I have it downloaded now. 😉
Last time I went to West Park parking it was first two hours free but things change so quick! My family used to live in Aldwick in the estate just behind that plaque in Dark Lane! I worked at the Town Hall many years ago!
Aldwick looks like a lovely place to live 🙂
Used to live in Aldwick. Lovely area
Lovely to see another part of the Sussex coast..been living on the East Sussex coast for 13 years and never been that way! (I know!) Hope you’ve since sorted your roof troubles - we have been trying to get a leaky roof fixed for 3 months and it’s become a very stressful situation. Modern roofers aren’t interested in smaller jobs. So thanks for this super relaxing video with such lovely music - much needed. 😊
Hi Wendy. We managed to get our roof fixed but it took double the time we were expecting. We sympathise with you in your search for a good roofer. Hope you can get it all repaired soon. Take care 🙂
Great trip 😁
Ah...Howards is a really good cafe...best value All-Day Breakfast for miles around!
Yes, we enjoyed it 😊👍
Very good video presentation and very enjoyable and entertaining. Nice ŕelaxing trip. Thank you for sharing your wonderful video my friend, new friend here and I just subscribe and like 👍 your awesome video 👍👏👏👏😃
Hello and welcome. Thank you so much for subscribing. Hope you enjoy the videos 🙂👍
I have been looking forward to your adventures. I am refusing to go anywhere long distance whilst the petrol prices are sky high. Cannot wait to get to the Lake District with my new cat.
The rising cost of diesel is making us rethink our travel plans. We have already filmed a trip to the Lake District which will be coming soon. Enjoy your adventure with your new cat 🙂👍
Great video once again 👌and you definitely should do your editting after your trips you both should be enjoying your trips away first and foremost 🙌🌅
Thank you, we appreciate your comment 🙂👍
Hi guys hope you both are well and keeping safe I have never been to Bognor Regis but have always heard people talking about the place as it seems very popular anyway this episode has just come at the right time for me I'm sat in my bed with COVID feeling sorry for myself but this has cheered me up Thank you 😊 ☺ 😄
Sorry to hear you are not well Paul. Hope you get well soon ❤️🩹🙂👍
Great content, very creative - new subscriber 👍
Thanks Andrew and thanks for subscribing 🙂👍
Morning Carol and Ken.
Afternoon Larry 👋
Hi and a great video. We live in storrington and that burger van you stopped at hasn't been open for over 2 years. Unfortunately I think it is now abandoned 😕 cheers Paul and Sarah
We didn’t know that so thanks for the info. What a shame as we used to like getting a burger from them. Hope they manage to open again. I think there might be a chance as the council would have towed it if it’s really abandoned. 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK the laybys there belong to national trust so the council don't think have legal weight
Maybe they succumbed to bad times? Sad if they have.
Hi Carol and Ken from a glorious West Sussex and has been for the last 2 days. I think that the person or persons who wrote the new Highway Code are obviously non drivers especially having to give way at dangerous places! On the suject of Sir Billy Butlin when we were in Jersey quite a few years ago we managed to find his grave it is quite impressive and worth visiting. En route to the famous grave I had to stop, in our hired Toyota MR2, a lady driver who driving along with her rear door open. She was completely unaware, not DIC. Regards Crawford
Didn’t know Sir Billy Butlin was buried in Jersey 🙂 Enjoy the lovely sunshine ☀️ 😀👍
Hi Ken and Carol. We love your adventures especially the Sussex ones as this is our area. We have only just found this out that not all carbon monoxide detectors are suitable for motorhomes and caravans. The ones that are suitable are EN50291-2:2010. It's the 2 that donates they are for mobile homes and leisure vehicles. Hope this helps as we had the wrong one fitted in our campervan.
Thanks for the tip. Will check ours 👍
The figure on the Hotel looks like Josephine Baker, a Black American dancer.
From Australia. Many thanks for the video, and previous ones. Interesting to see how you fare with the restrictions on parking, very much like here particularly on the coast where councils etc tend to be very officious regarding overnight stays. And your battles with inclement weather, we've had an atrocious summer with disastrous flooding in many locations. Have made many trips to Britain over the years, have stayed in many places from run-down BnB's to very comfortable modern hotels, but never really roughed in the open. You handle it very well and your design of camper is excellent for the narrow roads, the larger ones would be a nightmare, especially in Cornwall which is hard enough to handle in a small car. Have never been to Bognor, but wasn't it the place referred to often by the one and only Albert Steptoe?
Keep the videos going, doesn't matter one whit to me that you don't edit them and put them on youtube till sometime later.
Hi David. We have heard about the flooding in Australia, you have had it bad this summer.
We are certainly glad we only have a small camper on some of the roads we have been down and are happy to compromise on internal space for the freedom it gives us to go and stay anywhere a car can go.
Didn’t know about the Albert Steptoe reference but used to watch the programme.
Thanks for watching. Take care 🙂👍
“It’s carrot cake so it’s healthy” ha ha ha
Lovely work as always. I particularly liked the montage with the padlocks. Beautiful. Doesn't Carol get a bad back cooking hunched over like that? It hurts my back just watching! 😲😲🤣🤣x
Cheers Kit. Yes she does suffer a bit cooking like that but not enough to want the roof up 😁👍
That burger van just down from Whiteways Lodge (top of Bury Hill) has been closed for months, I’m not sure if it’s opened since the lockdowns.
Thanks for letting us know 👍
