And people butcher my name as "Peter all the time (STAAARBUCKS!). ;) I think GameSpot Peter's biggest complaint was more that it felt "lighter" in that it doesn't have the scouting/challenges. Jose didn't feel that it lessened the game's impact since the missions are more unique and fun.
I just finished Awakening and I'm absolutely hooked on this series. I love the tactical gameplay and the crisp animations. I can't wait for fates to come in the mail.

Bartholomew Peter yep. aside from the censorship minigame getting cut, various accessories were dummied out, confession scenes were shortened, a couple characters got tone down or up, some personalities changed (but that's mostly due to bad direction in voice acting), and a couple supports were rewritten or cut.
the censors arent even that bad. so what if we lose skinship? i never cared to have that in my war game anyways... and besides you can still rub/blow your waifu if you so wish, because thats still in there
I'm thinking of buying Conquest first, then downloading Birthright, when i'm done. That way i get the hard path over with first. I'm not gonna turn use phoenix mode in Birthright, but in Conquest. Maybe as a last resort.
That 11 turns against the endless wave is no joke. I think I reset my game more than 15 times and had each turn down to a science. It all came to RNG in the end XD. Never have I ever been so pissed and still had fun in a chapter. Best chapter by far.

I say awakening is better. Awakening made me feel more connected to the characters and has a better story. Still beaten this on lunatic and enjoyed every moment of it. The 9,5/10 is well deserved, awakening deserves a 10/10 tough. It's 0,5 pints better.

I cannot wait to finally hit the ground running!!! Conquest 1st since of the 3 its the one I most want to play followed by Revelation than lastly Birthright!!! Corrin & Camilla for both Conquest & Revelation and Corrin & Felicia for Birthright :)
Ugh I'm stuck on my decision on where to start off in my campaign :( I love Conquest because it is what Fire Emblem Classics were like, all the different objectives, the difficulty, etc. But on the other hand, Hoshido has a fresh new take on Fire Emblem (By that I mean the various new classes in that version).
+thepeterpot If by grinding you mean awakening still of extra skirmishes then no... I find the story chapters good enough and with enough enemies for eahc unit to get a piece of the exp pie... But the extra battle defence things in my castle do give experience i believe so that helps...
Nope, this is classic Fireemblem, the only exp you'll be getting is from the story missions. Castle battles don't give you exp, and neither does the free Dlc "Before Awakening". You can grind supports though. Conquest was meant to be played without all the grinding, however if you really want to grind, there's always DLC.

Conquest is definitely not a good mode for online. Neither is birthright though, the third path is the only one with a good post game. Due to limited exp and good balance between units, the replay value is great. There's a lot of experimentation you can do each route

Come on! This game deserves at 9.7 at LEAST! I mean, it does what awakening did but improved it greatly! I mean, awakening's wireless was extremely limited to the point of mere obscurity where Fates experiments with it greatly, enabling countless more hours of gameplay outside the story. Not only that, the visuals of Fates WAY better than awakening, the battlefield music and transition from overview to the field is amazing

Zikka Friday um, that is debatable. I've played older games so granted awakening and Birthright are super easy even on high difficult settings due to the grind they allow you. Conquest is "ok", the thing that you must remember is to have your ideal team on your mind from the start so you dont waste time with units you wont use. It is considered harder due to it been like older games where you go from chapter to chapter(in theory anyways)

In Birthright, you can invest more time into leveling up characters by doing challenges. So even if you don't lower the difficulty, you can eventually overpower the enemy units, like in an RPG. In Conquest, you can't do side quests to level up. You can, of course, download the free DLC mission and "grind" it in Conquest -- but only to grind relationship status, not level/stats. So you can unlock additional paralogues in Conquest that way. Whereas in Birthright, you can grind levels, upgrade characters, etc. We posted a wiki on IGN.com that goes through the differences.
Man I'd love to get this game...if it wasn't $100 for the whole shebang. $40 for both "sides" of the main game then another $20 for(along with probably buying a larger SD card for it) Revelations.
You can go to birthright since its the easiest one, and since you nevee played a Fire Emblem game. And Awakening has nothing to do with these 2 games so its not necessary, yet its still an amazing game

I'll play through this once on easy for the story and the replay it later on hard. I don't like losing anyone and I know that if I play on the harder difficulty I'll just reset every time someone dies lol
So ultimately, when I played Conquest and Birthright, I loved and disliked it. Conquest really wasn't difficult, but that was most likely because I was used to playing games such as Radiant Dawn and the such. Althought, the only "challenge" I got out of it was playing Lunatic mode, and then being sad when there was no Lunatic + mode... Birthright was ok in terms of gameplay, but both sides give next to no story for the main plot. I give it a 7/10. Awakening I prefer. (No I am not a newcomer to F.E.)
I play Birthright I noticed Gunter is on the cover for Conquest, but if chapters 1-6 are the same, Han caused Gunter to fall through the bridge, so if he's not dead or chilling in Valla, how does he live? I don't mind spoilers.

If you never played a Fire Emblem before as well as this type of game play will you enjoy this game? I've wanted to give this series a go for a while now but it seems too daunting with it's difficulty and it's style of gameplay.
get hoshido as thats mainly towards beginners. Honestly, the games are not hard and there are a lot of options (such as phoenix mode) which makes the game extremely easy. At the same time, if you get comfortable with the gameplay, the game can be changed to adapt towards harder diffuculty.
I Heavly recomend getting Birthright over Conquest then. Conquest is absolutely Brutal to new players, and even to veterans such as myself. *Gets vivid flash backs of Chapter 10* Survive only 11 turns they said, it'll be easy they said. *Shivers Ahem, anyways go buy Birthright, and then when your feeling confident try out conquest.
Oh one more thing, I recomend playing the game on classic mode it adds alot to the experience. Casual kinda ruins it in my opinion. And I wouldent touch phoenix mode with a 10 foot pole.

Apparently Conquest is actually the more tougher of two, so its been praised by FE fans for kind of going back to its roots in terms of difficulty. It may be why it got .1 more since it was more challenging and therefore more rewarding when winning battles.

Well revelation you start with like 4 units and don't expand till chapter 5 and my girlfriend told me revelation is harder but that's just an opinion. Still gonna be fun

I noticed Gunter is on the cover for Conquest, but if chapters 1-6 are the same, Han caused Gunter to fall through the bridge, so if he's not dead or chilling in Valla, how does he live? I don't mind spoilers.

Awakening on Normal, with Perma-death was a challenge but I enjoy a challenge. Shadow Dragon was harder but I've completed both of them.

Conquest it's a lot more fun then Birthright I'll admit.
You think Fire Emblem will ever get multiplayer right? It's like the only strategy game I know of that can't get multiplayer right. Even Pikmin 3's local multiplayer is great.

If you never played a Fire Emblem before as well as this type of game play will you enjoy this game? I've wanted to give this series a go for a while now but it seems too daunting with it's difficulty and it's style of gameplay.
get hoshido as thats mainly towards beginners. Honestly, the games are not hard and there are a lot of options (such as phoenix mode) which makes the game extremely easy. At the same time, if you get comfortable with the gameplay, the game can be changed to adapt towards harder diffuculty.
I Heavly recomend getting Birthright over Conquest then. Conquest is absolutely Brutal to new players, and even to veterans such as myself. *Gets vivid flash backs of Chapter 10* Survive only 11 turns they said, it'll be easy they said. *Shivers
Ahem, anyways go buy Birthright, and then when your feeling confident try out conquest.
Oh one more thing, I recomend playing the game on classic mode it adds alot to the experience. Casual kinda ruins it in my opinion. And I wouldent touch phoenix mode with a 10 foot pole.
There is no better choice tbh. If u mean story i think hoshido is better overall.

Chapter 10 is a real pain. It took me several tries just to beat it on hard mode...

I don't know about this "true" or "dislike" stuff but as a veteran player who's been playing Fire Emblem over a decade I'm excitied especially for Conquest.

Ah yes, the dreaded chapter 10. I was so tempted to change the difficulty because of that map.
I played it in easy with permadeath on and have to restart 10 times e.e

+BigEholixs181 Different story, but there's some differences in the maps and more importantly gameplay.
Apparently Conquest is actually the more tougher of two, so its been praised by FE fans for kind of going back to its roots in terms of difficulty. It may be why it got .1 more since it was more challenging and therefore more rewarding when winning battles.
Got Birthright coming tuesday and already have my code for Conquest as DLC. So excited to play Fates!!

still can't decide on which game to pick up... i think conquest sounds a bit more fun story wise because you're fighting a dictator 'kinda' then the "peace loving nature" of the hoshido side which sounds lame af...

the revelation path is extremely more harder than conquest.
Basically, if you want a similar experience to awakening get birthright. If awakening was to easy for you and you want something more challenging get conquest. Or you can always just get both.

Difficulty wise Conquest is by far the hardest path. Even if you don't grind, which you can only do in Birthright or Revelation.
Well revelation you start with like 4 units and don't expand till chapter 5 and my girlfriend told me revelation is harder but that's just an opinion. Still gonna be fun
