  • Zipwake Boat Trim Control System is the innovation that keeps on giving, promising boaters better hole shot, performance and gas mileage. In-Fisherman Digital Editor Thomas Allen and IMTRA Zipwake product Manager Jamie Simmons, put a Caymas DV22 to the test with Zipwake's Dynamic Trim Control System installed and the difference in performance is incredible. This begs the question, are trim tabs a thing of the past? In this Zipwake review, we will cover why interceptors are better than trim tabs.
What are interceptors and how do they differ from trim tabs when running your boat?
Zipwake is the world's first economical trim control system, incorporating a state-of-the-art series of durable and fast-acting interceptors that eliminates the well-known trim problems of planing and semi-planing boats between 20-100 feet. The system is fully automatic and significantly enhances performance, fuel economy, comfort and safety when accelerating, turning or running in a seaway.
    Will interceptors improve hole shot?
Absolutely! If you've been wondering how to achieve the best hole shot possible on your boat, adding an automatic interceptor system will be one of the best ways to improve hole shot. The technology in the system will adjust in real-time to every sway of the boat and wave you cross, making your boat run as level and true as possible all the time.
Should you buy an automatic boat roll control system?
The investment to get the very most out of your fishing boat's on-the-water performance is an easy one to make. With Zipwake, you will not only up performance but increase comfort for the driver and passengers. If you are considering adding the system to your boat, we would definitely recommend trying it out, especially if constantly fiddling with trim tabs is not your forte.
Will the Zipwake Dynamic Trim Control System work on my boat?
The Zipwake system has two available series: Series S, a product family designed for boats under 50 feet that includes four straight, four V-shaped, four chine and one intermediate interceptor and the Series E, a family of large, fast-acting interceptors that includes four straight, three tunnel and four chine models that are designed for boats up to 100 feet.

Nice video by the entity trying to sell a product, where's the side by side comparison to trim tabs and when race boats switch I'll give them a look.

Based on my limited understanding it seems trim tabs, overall, are more efficient. Also if these were more efficient it would include independent documented testing.

Not only do i see an issue with causing drag by putting a perpendicular wall against the in flow of water, but i also see an issue with over time causing an extra serious stress on the transom it's mounted to. I don't see anyway that these are more efficient. And i have serious concerns with transom wear. Also what if you run a ground in shallows. Hitting a ground will not effect trim tabs much at all but I can see these ripping one hell of a hole in your boat. Just my thoughts. Nothing about this design looks appealing

If you are running aground, then your motor will be a much bigger problem than those

What I don't understand is how can a flat plane that comes down paralleling the transum give better fuel economy. I can only imagine it also digs in to top speed and cruising speed as well I can get that it causes drag on one side or the other that may help a whole shot in keeping the bow down but it's gotta kill the fuel economy and the top end speed. Or please explain the dynamics of how that works

same question. Looks like it just creates drag. Why would anyone want that?

Based on the other comments, I'm glad I'm not the only one that agrees trim tabs (by the laws of physics) should be more effective/efficient. The only thing this system has going for it is it's automatic.

Yes trim tabs are better.put your hand out of the boat at 45° and then at 0° degrees flat to the wind. What angle is better.

Not understanding exactly how these work. If anything they'd be counterintuitive of a trim tab and also create drag. Trim tabs do all of the above without scrubbing speed. How is handling and fuel economy not sacrificed with that much drag

It's only a pos bass boat. One of the most useless boats ever built.

They are as useful as a floating log. But you will pay $50K for it. 😅
