He better be glad you got her going. I just had a call on a unico myself,bad blower motor and the new motor is expensive as hell. Client almost had a heart attack. We are talking total call labor and motor $1200.00 and that was giving him a discounted price.
Looks like an overly expensive control board and HVAC unit. That guy knows enough to be really dangerous. I agree take that extra safety missing float switch out of the circuit. Great job Steve
If you don't have a drain on the secondary pan you need a good safety switch, that works. Most evaporators clog at the 3/4" pvc male adapter drain fitting at the coil.
Unico systems have frezestat and will never ice up so the pan switch is unnecessary, the ez trap safety switch was up and I've seen them trip since it is high velocity system the airflow causes them to trip especially if the trap is dry.
@@benshurdhi3003what happens when the pvc pipe gets plugged where it ATTACHES TO THE EVAPORATOR? Never mind, I'll just tell you. It overflows into the metal drain pan underneath the unit, which then overflows and destroys the kitchen ceiling while your out fishing. What some guys do is install a little switch in the drain pan.
@@dr650john and the float switch inside the unit will prevent that but of course I forgot that we are talking about Unico not spacepak 😂. So yes the pan switch is necessary.
@@benshurdhi3003 interesting tip you mentioned about the airflow tripping the ez trap safety switch. Never knew that but it makes sense especially on a high velocity system with a dry trap.
It shuts off the unit if the pan fills with water, in case the main float switch doesn't work, or a rotted pan makes the water not even hit the main condensate drain. Problem is they tend to be very cheaply made and failure prone, especially with the temperature extremes in an attic.
You can be picky at your local Deli regarding fried chicken. That's our version of a helicopter customer. Can you put gloves on? Or that arcade game with the claw that grabs a stuffed animal... No, not that one.. to your right.. No, this one.. ok. Is this the freshest? The deli clerk probably agrees with you. hahaha, Mamma! I had a co worker once throw customers packaged Deli meat (.5 pound -1 pound) in the space in front of Deli... He said "There, Go Get it!" It's stressful!

I have 3 Unico systems and they have given me total comfort for 21 years and counting.
Just like everything else, the older ones were better. I installed dozens of those systems 20 something years ago.
