- The extreme right-wing blueprints of Project 2025 and Agenda 47 call for radical changes to gun control laws-- making it harder to track illegal weapons, overturning state restrictions on deadly firearms, and even arming teachers. These proposals check off the gun lobby’s wish list at the expense of public safety, despite most Americans supporting sound gun control measures, according to Kris Brown, president of Brady: United Against Gun Violence. Together, Agenda 47 and Project 2025 aim "to sell as many guns to as many people as possible, and to remove every public safety measure to allow that to happen-- it's profit-seeking," Brown says, adding that Trump and the gun lobby "could care less" that gun violence is now the leading killer of American youth.

Canadian here... we don't have prayer in schools, or the ten commandments. We also don't have dead kids. No Canadian child has ever died in a mass shooting in an elementary school. We do have guns. What we don't have is Republicans. If Americans want to end the insanity, you have to vote every Republican out of office.

I'm a 56 year old teacher. I have had nightmares about guns in my school, but I have never owned, been curious about guns, or touched one in my life. I think Americans are very weird about guns. Where are the founding fathers when you need to address a national psychosis? Wake up America! WE ARE WEIRD!
I grew up in a rural community. It was every boys dream to pass the gun safety class so they buy ammunition like an adult. I anxiously waited for years to attend, you had to be at least 13. The class was held in the elementary school gym. I took my grandpa's rifle with me. Everyone had a great time. I used my paper route income to pay for ammo and eventuality a job at a grocery store helped me buy guns of my own. It was and still is my rural culture.

I walked into an outdoors/camping store one time to look for heavy duty boots....and there was maybe 1 or 2 people walking around the store....and then I came around to the gun counter and there was about 100 people waiting at the counter including cops in uniform to buy guns! just insane !!!

This is a false analogy. Being killed by an AR-15 is an act of violence perpetrated by a person who gained access to an AR-15 through legal or illegal means and isn't a choice made by the victims. Eating fast food at McDonald's is usually self inflicted and the poor health consequences can usually be reversed by choosing a better diet, being active, etc. Victims of gun violence, especially if inflicted by an AR-15 can rarely, if ever, be reversed. There's a huge difference between these two things. Don't lump them into the same category.

According to Scrapehero, in 2024 the US contained 13,539 McDonald's restaurants and 16,621 Starbucks stores. That adds up to a lot of gun dealers.
I don't know the total for 2024, but in 2012 there was a total of 280 MANUFACTURERS of AR-15-type rifles in the US. All the better to keep those gun dealers supplied, I guess.
The UK passed major gun control laws after just one school shooting and that was in 1996...

In 1970 in the Netherlands 600 children per year (age till 14) died in traffic accidents. We started an action group "Save the Children". In the Netherlands we have 23 million bikes for 17 million citizens and many of those bikes are used daily by children. The last 50 years all our traffic infrastructure has been redesigned, separating roads, spaces, lanes and traffic lights for cars, bikes and pedestrians. The rules have changed; speed limits of 20 mph for schools and residential areas. Cars are by default legally responsible for accidents with bikes and pedestrians. It took billions of Euros, but we reduced the number of dead children from 600 to 20 per year.

Knowing how many gun shops have been closed right here in Washington state where I live, I don't believe this statistic.
I think that they're probably quoting how many FFL holders there are in the United States.
Any gun shop can have anywhere from three permit holders to 10 permit holders.
You cannot sell firearms unless you have a federal firearms license.
I got to drive 20 mi north of Seattle or 20 miles south of Seattle in order to find a good gun shop now.
I would go to Cabela's but all they have is new stuff.

My Class III license allows me to buy guns but not to sell them. Therefore legally I count as a gun dealer, but I do not operate a gun store. I support common sense gun regulation, but I think it does not help when people use misleading terms and statistics in their arguments.

If someone wants to end another person, having or not having a gun is not going to stop them. Been on many shooting scenes including a 15 year old girl shot up close with a shotgun. In each case it was the human who's brain allowed them to think that was a option. The brain of the person is most influenced at their earliest ages in the developmental process. The parents and all the choices they make and what they allow in their environment have a drastic impact on their children.
