Most of the country wouldn't know about gay sex and trans issues if the far-Right would stop bringing it up. The main issue is a partisan high court that doesn't honor its own precedent. It the Supreme Court doesn't abide by its own settled law and constitutional interpretations, then there's no reason to expect politicians and state governments to respect the court decisions either.
If SCOTUS had abided by settled law of over 40 years Obergefell v. Hodges would have went the other way,.
@@MISTER23G02xx I think you're confusing it with _Lawrence_ v. _Texas_ ("Lawrence") with the marriage equality ruling that legalized gay marriage.
The difference is when the court expands constitutional rights to individuals and then takes them away. The sodomy laws invalidated only applied to gays.
There was another sodomy case, _Bowers_ v. _Hardwick,_ during 1980s at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic that affirmed the state's right to regulate sodomy.
In 2003, the _Lawrence_ ruling prohibited states from enforcing the laws. Is that the settled law you're talking about?

It was settled law for 43 years until 2015 when it was overruled by Obergefell.

These so-called sodomy laws are themselves immoral, outrageous, and dangerous. It's all about pandering to these Christian evangelicals about how to best lead a Christian life. I thought their god loves everybody. I thought everyone is created in god's image. I thought Christians loved or are supposed to love all of god's children. So, what the hell? (Pun intended.)
They want sex to be missionary and only be done for the singular purpose to make a baby, nothing else. Sex for fun (and fun types of sex) are demonized because they can't understand it.
What happpened to Lawrence v. Texas 539 U.S. 558 (2003)? That is [was ?] and has been settled law on the very same subject matter and nullified sodomy laws in a number of states in addition to Texas.
