- Is it safe in Davao City at night? Well, I find this to be one of the most relaxing cities in the Philippines to explore at night and never really feel uncomfortable.
In this video you will see Bret Maverick and I go for a night run around Davao City. It was relaxing, we felt very safe and we had a lot of fun exploring and stopping at the night market. Oh, and before all of this Bret had a chance to experience eating Davao durian at our meet and greet hangout!

I have been to Davao 4 times now and have NEVER felt in danger. I have been on the streets at nighttime, sometimes 2am and have always felt so relaxed. The city is so safe. Great video!

Davao is my City,and yes ..the government of Davao do their best to protect the people specially to the foreigners...even your are drunk walking in the street they're only looking at you but no one touch you or hurt,specially if you need help people also there is open their arms to help you...
I was born and raised there. It was very much safe pretty much.. I’d say 80% of the places. Just like any other city, just don’t go to wrong barangay (village, or hood)because of notorious gangbangers. Back in the days, there were terrorist threats and attacks (bombing bus terminals, night markets and etc.) these were back from the 90’s to 2010’s. I haven’t been there in almost 10 years but I have been hearing it’s quite safe. Can’t wait to go back home soon! 😍

i agree with you Tom..i remember way back 2017 jan 2 its my first time to go there and i was amaze this place.. i arrived like 1am and i was at the bus terminal for more than five hours at first i was a lil bit nervous but later on i feel comfortable

I've been a resident of Davao for 10 years and I never felt nor experienced any danger. I can walk through any streets at any time alone especially after work.

been going every year in davao since 2011. yes, it is safe and people are so nice. i brought my dad there last year for his post bday treat and he cannot believe how safe and how courteous people are.
They still have bombing in Davao City, Seems as if nighttime market was bombed a few years ago. I have seen bombs go off outside malls in Davao City or at least the aftermath. I remember a bus station getting bombed in Digos City back around 2009 or 2010 that killed a few. I remember when the old airport was bombed in Davao. Last year two foreigner were kidnapped from Samal Island and one or both were later beheaded by ABU Sayaff. Safe is a relative term.

@@angeliescobido2037 I enjoy Davao, I just don't try to candy coat the city. I have spent many a day and night in Davao City. Of Manila/Cebu/Davao I still like Davao best. But the traffic is getting to be out of control with too much traffic congestion. There are more beggars in Davao than Cebu or Manila. Don't confuse truth with hate.
@@redranger518 Anywhere you go there's always beggars around the streets. I used to live in Metro Manila and Mandaue Cebu for years and there's plenty of beggars and traffic is worst than Davao City. Your truth comes with hate.
@@angeliescobido2037 I have spent about almost 2 years in Philppines the last 13 years. Made close to 20 trips and stayed most in Davao City, next was Manila and last was Cebu. Davao City has the worst beggars by far, they torture you coming out of most fast food places, they are on every flyover pedestrian bridges crossing like JP laurel highway. While no doubt Manila has the beggars as well, for me a Kano I get tortured much worse in Davao City area. No hate here just what I see and have experienced, don't get butt hurt about Davao City. It a great place to be and still my favorite city, but it's not all sunshine and butterflies like you want one to believe.
Was there in 2014 for about 4 days. Davao city seems very safe and people were friendly as well.

I was just there last month. Walked about 3 km to my condo at 3am. Never felt I was even remotely in danger. Lovely City.
Davao was once a troubled city, then trouble met Duterte.

I have walked around the city very late at night ,never had an issue of any kind ,Davao is a very safe city and beyond the city ,to many false stories about Davao its safe and beautiful :)

I've lived in some cities in the Philippines like Manila, Bulacan, Cebu, Tacloban, but I liked Davao City most because I lived in its neighboring Province, you can roam around in the night with your cellphone in your back pocket without fear of pickpockets and ride safely in a jeepney without also fear of robbers.
I love this. Davao is one of my favorite places on earth. And you captured perfectly how friendly and great everyone is. Keep sharing this type of raw videos my friend.
Next time you visit Davao and drop by the Roxas district try this very amusing restaurant called "Lyndon's worst barbecue ribs". The food is nowhere bad, in fact its really amazing and the prices are really affordable. But they just have amusing names for their food in their menu like the "Lyla's awful chicken", "Han's horrible mechado", "tasteless pancit canton", and "disgusting tilapia". But the ribs are what's going on in that place. And Roxas is THE place for street food by the way when you're in Davao. ;-)

Taxi drivers in davao would always give you the exact change.. They would accept even if you would give them less than the amount youre supposed to pay..

Amristar Yeah its me.. But we've been there a couple of times.. And they were also very nice when i didnt get my change which is just 5peso the driver was very thankful..it was like they're not used of accepting tips

Yes it's true, even for a guy it's ok if you don't pay the exact amount, if you don't have 1 peso coins. No need to book Grab taxis, the regular taxis are reliable.

Grew up in metro Manila, mostly Makati area, but been living in the UK for 10 years now, everytime we visit PHL, we head straight to Davao city. Never felt safer than manila, like you gotta watch your back in there like always, in Davao I felt at ease, no worries at all just follow the city ordinance and you'll be fine... Metro Manila is not appealing to me anymore, one day when I retire, I'm returning to Davao...

I have just come back from Davao my wife is from there I lived out there for about a year some time back the filipinos are a wonderful people and Davao has got a lot better than it was when I first went there over 20 years ago it was quite dangerous at that time. God bless

I was born in Makati city but i must say Davao is the safest city in the Philippines. Not as safe as Singapore though but it's a far cry from the big cities like Manila, Quezon and Makati city. Cool vid! Keep it up dude!

I just went back to LA after a 1 month vacation in Davao. It's still lovely and safe but what I didn't like is the traffic. The roads need to get wider but that would be a long term project. Other than that I still love the city because thats where I grew up for a decade
Yes. I lived in Davao also. Our problem really is that the roads especially in the center of Davao is not that wide. I think its because the local government before didn’t expect Davao to boom.
Glad you get to roam around the city. It's my second fav place in the world. California is my number one fav and Davao is my second. Go DAVAO! Go to Samal Island. It's a beautiful island.

I'm from metro manila and always go to Davao Back and forth. Yes Davao City is Safe even in the night. Manila can do it but the People has no really Dicipline.

IMO Davao is way safer than Cebu. In Cebu you can experience massive extremes from top IT Park area, where you can feel like in NY, to slums where I wouldn`t go even in the middle of the day. Davao is way more balanced, I just don`t know how the rest of Mindanao looks like but Davao is great.

for bisaya "ngit-ngit", litter "t" must be pronounced, I'm a call center agent and for Americans and Canadians they hung the "t" sound in there throat if it is in the last letter of the word, but for the Filipinos "t" must be pronounced.

When you pronounce "Ngit-Ngit" is something like sounds Eat or it at the end. So Just combine the 'Ngi' & 'it'. It also sounds like when we say 'Wet' or 'Pet'.
That's could easily be the safest city in the Philippines! :D Im from Luzon and part of my bucket list is to visit Davao!
of course coz in 2015 davao was considered the 9th safest city in the world and in the same year it was even at 5th spot as the safest in the world.
We've met kulas along with his friends during a dinner in Davao ..He was indeed a very friendly fella ..my mother could not insist in coming to their table and having a little conve with him ..he was very friendly indeed .. kudos to you kulas..

I am a Canadian and I tried durian and it was yummy but it had a bit of an aftertaste ..I plugged my nose while I was eating it , plus I had a cold so it really wasn't that bad

I guess what most foreigners want is tourist attractions and resorts not far from the city. Does Davao City have those?
You should ask rod for that. He knew a lot of places in Cebu city and Mandaue City, where u can rent for a short period of time. His channel is Amazing Philippines.
