I’m five months in to going gray/silver! Wow can’t believe the negative comments people make! I definitely going to continue I’m doing this for me, thanks for this wonderful attitude! 💖
Thank you, Monique! I had beautiful auburn hair all my life. Then, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. When my hair fell out, I was told if you don.t dye it when it grows back in, it will be grey and straggly. I was scared. However, my hair grew back salt and pepper grey and I love it! People kept asking when I was going to dye it. I said never! I get so many compliments. No more hair dye , I am alive and so grateful. I agree with everything you said. It is really ridiculous the stigma that society puts on women and how they look. My hair is a daily affirmation of what I have endured. You look just lovely❤️
I love my "silver" & get stopped all the time asking me what color I use. Was so liberating to stop coloring and looking back can't imagine how many toxins I've soaked up in the last 40 years. I did have to cut my hair fairly short to get rid the darker blond. The only recommendation I have for anyone is to make sure you keep a modern or current hairstyle.
monique! you have really helped me in my transition from very dark brown dyed hair to very silver! Transitioning is not for the weak 😂 but your vlogs and encouragement have been so helpful. You always give such good advice-thank you!
This is so bang on Monique! Everything you said explains all the things I experienced in my four year journey to hip length white hair. I've experienced the rudest people and the most complimentary people. I get positive comments on my hair almost daily from perfect strangers. Screw the mouthy, opinionated, and rude people and be confident and rock that gray hair! It's one of the best things I've ever done! 😘
Men get called Silver Fox's. You are right about the double standard. There are women in my workplace who are over 55 and don't color their hair and to me they stand out as some of the most attractive women in this workplace. They have inspired me to be natural with my hair color.
Monique, you were my inspiration to embrace my gray hair. I started going gray at 30 and was totally gray by 40. I’m now 61. Two months ago I stripped my hair of color (brown): bleached it then dyed it gray. Now I’m not worried about my gray roots showing and I love my hair.
My mother was my biggest critic with me going gray! She said if I went gray that it made HER old! I didn’t listen but it hurt! Now I’m more salt than pepper and I get so many compliments on my hair. I also started my journey at 50.. now I’m 58 and loving it! I have to say YOU were a big part of me enjoying going gray. Thank you!
I did the extreme haircut method - Chopped off my dyed auburn hair to a Susan Powter length! I kept trimming it as the gray grew out & soon it was gray all over and I could grow the length. I love my gray hair!
Monique I think you look amazing with your natural hair tone. I’m 40 and went silver when I was 16. I’m now about 90% white. I think women look amazing with silver hair so keep it up !
I forgot to measure the social measure of woman going grey but, I completely understand the diffraction between man and woman. It’s something to concentrate and bring to the normal cycle of being human. I find beauty in what’s not magazine defined. Just you true self is beautiful. Ps. You are. Love your videos.
You are a GEM..in EVERY way..you share, you are honest..you had such lean times in the past and yet shined your light for us always...nothing makes me happier then to see you busy in your profession and in a fabulous relationship..so well deserved...You were one of the reasons I went grey...your way..chopped it off..now it is almost shoulder length..and my hair is thicker and more fabulous now then the 25 years I dyed it every color in the book..BTW..I get asked out more now..men tell me it is a sign of great confidence...BUT!!I have to be twice as attentive to makeup and style..you just enjoy your life now...you deserve ALL good things..THANK YOU for being part of our lives....xoxo
Monique as I said before, I found your video's when I decided to go gray. You were such a big help to me. Truly. Also your beauty encouraged and continues to encourage me. You look good, maybe we can too! It's been 2 years now and I am happy with my decision. You are right it wasn't always easy, that's for sure. Thanks for the encouragement and the realism. You know, you are blessed with an openness and an acceptance that translates to a kind of love. I hope that love and acceptance always comes back to you tenfold. Rock on !
Monique, I started going Grey in my early 20’s. I am now almost 54. I started thinking about letting my grey grow out about a year ago. I found your channel and it gave me the courage to actually let it grow out. I want to thank you so much for helping me to have the courage to go natural and I am loving it. I am now 7 months of no coloring and I am loving it! I am using some rinses and things like that to help tone down the old colors while I grow it out. Thank you!!!!
Thanks to you and all of the wonderful videos you share, I had the courage to finally ditch the dye. I’m 7 months into my journey and I haven’t regretted my decision for a second! Thank you so much for giving me the little nudge I needed. 💜
Hey Monique! I’ve been watching you off and on for several years... primarily on the silver hair process. I’m joining you on the silver journey. I’ve been coloring since age 21 and at age 56, I’m done! I think I’m nearly 100% silver in the front and likely 60% to 80% silver in the back. I’d love it if you would re-tell your silver story ... I’ve seen you cry and celebrate on your channel and have appreciated your truth telling. Continued good health and beauty to you😘
I personally think you are at the most beautiful in your career. your hear color makes your skin glow and your eyes pop. Do what you want. You look beautiful! (My opinion)
Monique...we started our silver journeys at the same time! You helped me tremendously...just knowing I wasn't alone. I had no angst about letting my natural silvers coming. I was excited and couldn't wait to see what the end result would be. I am pewter and peppers...and LOVE my hair like this. My skin tone and eye color looks 'right' now! We are the representatives that show our authentic selves . Shoulders back ladies...we are wonderful!
YASSS!!! You are so on point and on time for me. At 67 I have decided to go COMPLETELY grey on my 68th birthday in a couple months. My 1/4 inch roots are showing now. i have been doing research on "going grey" and have decided (for me) to grow out my grey hair under various styles of wigs. I have always been a changer of hairstyles and colors since I was in my early twenties. My mom had gorgeous silver grey hair but hated it so she dyed it. In transition I will also take advantage of the many highlighting and coloring options you have spoken about. It is somewhat different for me since I am also growing out a perm into a "natural" curl pattern. How much natural can ya get than white? So, that is my plan for going through and into the "grey veil". I am thinking of doing a written journal with pix. Perhaps I will post it when I'm done so that others may take courage to travel the the feminine road to the blank slate (as I like to call white/grey hair) or "old age" (as others less informed may say). YOU ARE A GREAT INSPIRATION. Rock on Lady! Smooches.
I found my first gray hair at 21. Actually, it was my college roommate who found it and plucked it out without my knowledge or permission. I was more upset by her action of assuming that I would not want it than I was by its presence. From that moment on, I could not wait to turn gray. I tried going natural, but found that the few gray strands in my 30s really aged me and looked dowdy and unkempt, so I began to color. My hair grows more quickly than most people, as I had to dye it every 10 days - 2 weeks. Around age 41, my hairdresser and I decided there was enough gray (>50%) to go for it. Growing it out was unpleasant - I am short, so my "skunkline" was visible to everyone who towers above me. I just had to suck it up for a few months. When the day finally arrived, my hairdresser cut off the colored part of my hair, leaving me with a short pixie that was silver and gray with some of my natural brown. The response was immediate and positive. 18 years later, I am rocking shoulder-length bright silver hair. I have been stopped so often by young women who ask who does my color. (My answer is always "God!") I am flattered that a business colleague told me that seeing my hair encouraged her to stop coloring. I am now 60 with great skin (no one believes my age) so the hair color is just that - a hair color. It is in great condition, thick and shiny and I love it. I have fair skin and green eyes and find my hair is so flattering to my natural coloring. I am challenged now that gray hairs are popping up in my brown eyebrows, but am finding taupe pencils are working so far. As far as dating, I seem to attract more younger men than ones my own age. Hmmm.
I love you so much! I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate you and your honesty. I’m 51 and eight months into my transition (for the fourth time). I’m not giving in this time around. I came across your vid with the pink wig. I watched it because I thought it was so cool! Then I discovered that your channel was dedicated to your silver journey. I fell down the rabbit hole that day. I watched most of your videos and discovered others as well. Then found support groups on Facebook. I spent the entire day feeling validated and building my resolve to stick with my journey. I even found the strength to share a “revealing” pic of my growth on Instagram and just posted my first vid about my journey, today. I have you to thank for that. Had I not come across your video last week, I would be Auburn again. (I was really having a hard time and was about to cave until I found you by “accident.”) Thank you, again. From one silver sister to another. You rock!! Xoxo
Yaasss!! My high school senior photo has me with dyed hair, too!! At 17 it had gotten to the point where I couldn't continue to "yank out" those white hairs, because my hairline was receding from all that pulling!! I, too, stopped dying at 50, and fully embrace my silver hair now (I'm 63). My favorite part of this video (and I LOVED all of it!!) was when you said your viewers were "grown-ass women"!! You got THAT right!! It's my hair, and I love it!! If someone else DOESN'T, then they should stop freakin' looking at it!! #GrownAssWoman
Monique I dyed my hair just before I saw your first video, that was a year and a half ago! I bought the dyes (takes 4 boxes to do this long, thick hair) and they are still sitting under my sink. I keep thinking that I will dye it the next time I get it cut but then I watch your latest video and become brave enough to solider on. Thank you for putting it out there, for allowing us on your journey. Thank you for your inspiration and pep talks! Much love
Excellent video, I'm 3 years dye free with salt and pepper. You are correct, you never know what you will end up with. Wouldn't change a thing..loving it everyday 💚
I used a Color remover from Walmart to take the brown away. It worked like a charm! Some yellowing, but used purple shampoo and it knocked down the yellow. Then I had my hair cut as I usually did... After 2 hair cuts, it was all mine... I found out I was white in the front that blended to dark gray in the back. I have people asking who my hairdresser was and did I know what products she used to get my hair the way it was? I told her my hairdresser is God and mother nature!
@@hairrum i didnt but ive used colour B4 at least 4 times and its worked well every time removing the colour but leaving it fairly patchy and never going back to my original colour (hard to remember what that is though?)......its a very time consuming process because of all the rinsing but ive also had it turn dark again immediately because i didnt rinse properly or long enough...all in all though its a great product to get rid of unwanted colour and hair, though a little dry at first, soon recovers
Me too , I'm about two months regrowth . I'm not liking the contrast of the white roots around the front with my brown dyed hair .It seems to be salt and pepper on the roots at the back ,which I'd be happy with .I might have to think about 'stripping' the colour so not such a contrast ,but worried about the condition of the hair afterwards . Still early days and still positive it will look great in the end :-)
@@kimmarie9919 I am at this exact point right now, with same colors and coloring history. I'm researching trying to figure out how to best navigate this journey to grey. I'm also thinking of stripping the (years & years) of brown dye using Vitamin C tablets and shampoo (found method on YT) to reveal hopefully close to whatever my natural color is now (?)... it looks to be a bit salt and pepper on the half inch of roots I have showing. But, like you, I'm apprehensive about what shape my hair will be in after stripping it. Did you end up stripping out your color or not? If so, what did you use? I'm just curious about the results of a fellow going-silver traveler who (was) in a similar situation. ☺ Thanks!
Good grief she is a genius! I'm 47, and I am finally getting "noticable" grays coming in, and have been debating going gray. I have colored my hair for fun since my 20's, been every color under the sun bc I just wanted to do different stuff, not bc I was covering gray. But now, that my hair is back to a "virgin" state, I am wondering if letting my hair go gray is the next chapter. Thanks for all the information!
i have been fully gray for over a year and my hair has never been healthier. I had been dying my hair for over 30 years! absolutely love your videos and all your support !!
It strikes me funny, that you're touching this subject since I recently went from soft brown to White Snow. Having said that, I think I'm out of the norm, and I say this because most of my friends and my hairstylist said to me why do you want to look older? However, once I got it done all white now people say you look even younger! I love your gray/white hair it makes you look more exquisitely glamorous... Abrazos y OLE~
I truly don't believe it makes anyone look "older." No one is really fooling anyone when they are over 50 or 60 and you have zero gray. That would be very unusual. :) So to me, it just made me feel and look inauthentic (when I was still coloring). I A D O R E my platinum hair!!!!
Agreed! I get stopped often by people who compliment/ask about my hair. I stopped the coloring drudgery when I was 40 and have never regretted it. Glad I didn’t listen to those who warned me of “looking older”. They were absolutely wrong.
Looking gorgeous Monique! Yours was one of the first TH-cam videos I watched at the beginning of my gray hair transition 2 years ago. I decided to bleach and tone the same as you and it made my transition so much easier. I must be blessed with super polite people surrounding me because I never heard any of the rude comments. But then again I never had a stranger compliment me. But no matter what, I love my gray hair and luckily never had any of those self doubting moments. Love your videos - you inspire us all!
18 weeks into my natural grow out. I am loving it and at this time when you really can't go anywhere, it's the perfect time to go for it. I've been told over and over, "We're too young to go gray!" "No, you can't do that!" Well I'll be 59 in six weeks and while I feel this is not old, I just want to be me and own my own hair color. I am not saying anything is wrong with coloring your hair if that makes you happy. I have watched many of your videos and just love you and your honest open view of going gray! Thank you!
You and Eliza are my favorite persons on utube. I love your rambling as it’s not rambling to me it’s informative. I’m 11weeks into transition and your information has continued to help me. I just absorb everything you have to say. Especially love the product info. You should make a video about us women that have dyed ends. What products are good for us. I hilighted to light blonde, so my gray is virtually unnoticeable, but am stumped on what products to use because they act differently on the two types of hair.
Been on this amazing journey with you for the last few years. You’ve inspired me so been doing the highlights and toner grow out. Got two blue streaks underneath either side too just to add some edge. Sure it’s maintainace, but I’ve never had so many positive comments. Strangers come up to me (seriously both men and women) and tell me they love my hair! My kids and husband tell me I look hot. At 56 at last I’m owning it! Love you bunches x
You are stunning... I’m 10 years older than you and decided 60 was the time to embrace my true color. My husband was not fully on board with my decision.... I told him if he wanted me to keep coloring my hair he’d have to start coloring his. We both are growing old gracefully.... I love my hair... he loves it too. I love your videos.... good to see back on TH-cam.
Monique, thank you for the TH-cams on the grey hair. I was on the fence until I was sidelined at home for 3+ months. I am letting the grey grow out and and am not sure how it will look, but it will be mine. I was getting really tired of the chemical reaction between the sun and the hair dye on my head changing the color. Now I am ready for the ME to shine. Thank you for you videos!
Probably the best ever TH-cam video made! You deserve an Oscar for this one. You are so wise, sensible, deep, convincing and just fantastic! I wish I had the courage and hair to go all grey, but my pepper &salt color is right out extremly horrible to my complexion/eyes) so I am back to deep brown. And my daughters begged on their knees not to go grey. But so many women rocks it!!
I never, ever thought of silver as 'granny grey'. I embraced the process! A woman who knows who she is, who is comfortable in her own skin & is confident attracts good people! Blessings! Jackie in NY state
Great video! Thanks for all the great suggestions! I started dying my hair at 21 and I’m now 62. I have had it. I am beyond sick of the whole process. I have a wonderful hairdresser but gone are the days when I felt excited to go. It’s such a burden. Luckily my husband and kids have always encouraged me to let it grow gray. It’s actually pretty white. I think I will get a full highlight and let it grow out. Thanks again!
Not just hair, but you can be discriminated against if you are overweight, just being out in public... If it doesn't inconvenience anybody, people should be left alone.
We were not created to grow old per the Bible. Some people don't believe in the Bible, others do. Most people want to look young and there's nothing wrong with that. I love silver hair especially if it looks as good as hers in this video. There is no discrimination with most people but gray hair usually comes with getting older. Just the way it is. Consider 9:11.
You are absolutely stunning. I have started to go grey naturally and I've decided to let it come through. It is what it is. There is no shame in aging, it's better than the alternative. You are so lovely to speak up about this issue. Thank you sister !
You have just made me feel invincible, I'm a natural redhead and don't colour my hair, it is fading through strawberry blonde but the hair at my temples is pretty much white now. You saying that a woman with grey/gray hair is a strong woman was just what I needed to hear, I shall continue letting it fade away to white and ignore anyone who says I look old. You really are inspiring.
I'm a natural red head gone through the strawberry blond now I'm quite silvery white, my hare is very coarse how to keep your grey hair looking healthy ?
Monique, you were my inspiration to go silver. I am so very happy I did! My gray hair is gorgeous like yours. Never loved a color more. Thank you for being strong and courageous. Love you girl, and thank you for your support!!!!!
I have spent the past few days watching several of your videos. They have been a balm and an inspiration. I am 54 and have gone through what I refer to as, "Motherhood on Steriods." Long story short, one of my children has a mild heart condition and another has been through three surgeries. I was also a homeschool mom for ten years. My kiddos who are now young adults are finally at a point of good health. Taking care of me got put on the back burner for a lot of years. Watching your videos has reminded me it is okay to take care of me. As I have watched you laugh and cry, I have appreciated your authenticity, playfulness, and humanity. That too has been a reminder to embrace all of me. Thank you!
The habit to Dye itches on me sometimes, so I buy wigs... My hair finally sparkles, long before I make-up. At 66, glad I listened to your channel last year. And bleaching out is the most decisive method to facilitate the change.
Beth Parker I fear bleaching being brown haired and never did dye it. People said I would probably fry my hair trying blonde so just going a bit darker instead. Makes my hair look a little thicker since fine hair soaks up dye easier.
J Moore . I know it's all scary and it can be too expensive. But I remember Monique showed her hair first cut short then lightened, maybe it was couple of years ago. And I did a copy-cat of her, to celebrate my retirement. Have a great day
J Moore - Started greying heavily at 16 (genetic, my parents, siblings as well) so I always dyed my hair. I went from dyed black to platinum in one day, no damage. I was a professional hair/mu artist at time but have seen great salon results as well! Bleach will make your hair appear thicker as well. Do it in steps if you’re scared to bleach at once. If you want it bad enough you’ll find a way! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🦇
I love this lady. she seems to be very honest. You absolutely look gorgeous! I really like the silver! I've been wanting to do since I was in my 40's.....I am 62 and still haven't done it. But have colored my hair since my 30's.
You have made very good points on women with gray hair in the media. My husband has nice gray hair and I wish I had his hair color. You look electric in gray hair.
I’m 57 and still have a lot of dark in my hair. My hair is curly & I will probably just let it grow out. I did get it cut short with layers & I get compliments all the time. When it was longer it just was dry and nasty because of the grey hair. I wanted it to grow long for the last time, but I got it cut because of a bad hair cut. I just said cut it off. But you really help me out because looking back at pictures it was ratty. Society sucks. But you really encourage me. I love your channel! ❤️
Your hair, your make-up, your skin, your eyes, your voice. It is a jealousy-inducing package. You are beautiful and thank you for going gray. And thank you for representing someone who does their own thing against other people's opinions. I grew out my dry, colored hair a couple of years ago. What sold me when it began to grow out (against all the negativity from other people) was how incredibly SOFT and healthy and natural it looked and felt. I was in love with the natural beauty factor of it all. Love your videos. Thank you for your help and your honesty.
I’ve been going naturally grey for about 6 months. I just throw a violet toner on to remove the yellow tinge every month. It’s so freeing not to worry about it anymore. You know the monthly coloring to cover the grey! I’m embracing it!!
What a beautiful insightful video. You inspired me to go silver and I couldn’t be happier. I went gray by cutting it short and liked itvso much I kept it short. And yes, people approach me to commend me on my hair. Thank you so much for your help.
Monique I’ve followed you almost from the get-go! I was down and recovering from back surgery and had a lot of time on my hands...I’ve seen you when you didn’t have 2 dimes between your fingers and I’ve seen you shed your fair share of tears...this is your best video to date and you’ve said every thought I’ve ever had since I was in my forties. I too had grey as a child but my mother called it my blonde patch. I think SHE was appalled to say her little girl had grey hair!!! And I was dying my hair full time at 20. Love ye girl!!!
Thank you for this video, Monique. It was seeing how beautiful your grey hair is - and the hair of a woman I work with - that gave me the bravery to give it a try. I was so tired of getting my roots done every 3-4 weeks and I felt like it was really negatively affecting the health of my hair. I followed your advice about the purple shampoo. I also used a root touch up kit to color in a few critical stripes (as few as possible!) to help blur “the line” - That has made the growing out period tolerable. Now I’m six months in, I’ve got about 4-5 inches of grey and I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair! Some compliments are from people who really like my grey “highlights” and others are women who are also tired of coloring their hair and are envious of my bravery. Like you, I find it more important to have something bright - lipstick or clothes or something. But I’m loving it. And my hair is already healthier and even a little curlier! So I appreciate your continuing to talk about your hair and your life. Bravo for your messages about how beautiful we can all be.
I am so lucky to have come across your videos here on TH-cam, Last week I decided to go grey. I am actually buying products to help me this weekend. I am very lucky because my husband supports my decision 1000% Thank you for giving all of us Silver Bells a voice.
I loved this! I am currently debating making the commitment to quit dying my roots every 2-3 weeks and start my journey. Your video has been informative, thought provoking and humorous. I think you're stunning and want to thank you for posting this.
Glad to see you back on video with great info once again!! You speak to us with authenticity and we really appreciate it. Do it for you, or don't do it, the choice is ours, and it's not up to our friends/signif others/employers (how dare they!)- it's totally our choice to rock our gray or ease into it!
You are absolutely stunning, thank you for the information. I have chosen to go gray after 27years of dying. Thank you for showing Hollywood and the world we are more than our hair color.
I love you to pieces. You are completely on point. I was exactly like you, silver before 20. I dyed my hair until 50. When I made the decision I never looked back. Not an easy decision, but in a way it was so freeing. You have been such an inspiration to me. Hugs and love to you.
Great conversation Monique. You are one of my role models when it came to ditching the hair dye! You look stunning, and I love your back-round in this video, peonies? Some people have told me I look younger now, so how did I look before ?! Scary 😱. My son says I look more tan, never thought it might be related to positive complexion changes sans the dye.
Hi Monique. Tears of my eyes came down on minute 18:38 ... I am almost 46 (in two days), and I am struggling with gray roots every month. I am in that process you've described, when you are deciding to start the process to go gray. Thank you for this video, I got here God only knows why, I am going to watch the other videos where you started your process... Thank you so much for doing this video. Much love and hugs from Mexico. P.S. I suscribed and "rang" the bell ;-)
thank you, thank you, thank you. I have gone gray after losing it all to chemo. I am ok with gray but wanted to find out what I could do to give it some attitude. All your suggestions let me know I have options. BTW, I also rock many, many wigs and I like that option too, but when it is hot or we are camping, I go natural. I plan to watch each and every one of your videos. You made my day! Much love D
Monique, you rock!! I love your videos, they have helped me to decide to ditch the hair color. I am 52 and my hair grows very fast! I was having to do my roots every 4 weeks. So, last week, I took the plunge and got a hip, drastic hair cut! I went with an undercut and left the top long. This week I'm going in for heavy silver highlights to help with the growing out period. Thank you for your positive outlook on life, and gray hair! God Bless!
Love this ..... I want to go grey but I’m also afraid of it ... so I’m still in the “thinking about it” phase. You, however, are gorgeous grey. Keep on rockin that grey ❤️
As a gray/white haired woman, I can tell you it it very liberating to not be tied to the dye. Mother nature does know what she is doing!
Thank you for this video. At 45 I am at the start of my gray journey and am so excited.
Monique, your hair is absolutely beautiful! Any man who has you on his arm should consider himself very lucky!!!
Shirlyn's Sleeved That's wonderful advice! I have a trendy pixie cut and when I look in the mirror, I still look younger than my age.
Never seen a woman that looks as stunning as you do with gray hair. XO
Good example for all of us 😉
There are many gorgeous #Silversisters
The gray is stunning on you, it’s grown in so nicely, loving the length. That magenta color you’re wearing is also beautiful on you.
Because I saw you videos 2 yrs ago I decided to grow grey I am 68. I will never go back to being dark haired. I just love it!
monique! you have really helped me in my transition from very dark brown dyed hair to very silver!
It's no one else's business what hair colour a person has. Good on you!!
BOY, YOU BEEN BEAUTIFUL EVER SINCE YOU STARTED ON TH-cam...YOU HAVE JUST RIGHT, WHITE,SILVER,WITH YOUR HAIR, KOODOOOS TO YOU!!! HUGS 'N LOVES BARBIE
Men get called Silver Fox's. You are right about the double standard. There are women in my workplace who are over 55 and don't color their hair and to me they stand out as some of the most attractive women in this workplace. They have inspired me to be natural with my hair color.
Thank you for this vid. I am just now embracing my grey and I need this info. I love your vlog.
Thank you!
I think you are a great representative for women who have gone or are going natural. We are completely overlooked which is shameful.
You are not old, it's just a hair color! THIS WAS THE STATEMENT THAT COMPLETED THIS VIDEO FOR ME. Thank you for sharing.
I did the extreme haircut method - Chopped off my dyed auburn hair to a Susan Powter length! I kept trimming it as the gray grew out & soon it was gray all over and I could grow the length. I love my gray hair!
Your hair is fab x
You are so absolutely GORGEOUS! Never change your ATTITUDE!
This video needed to be done. Thank you for doing it!
Ageism is alive and WELL in America. Thank you for speaking up for us silver goddesses.
Your hair is stunning! I have serious hair envy right now. You are beautiful and inspirational.
Continued good health and beauty to you😘
Your silver hair is beautiful and I LOVE that hair style on you!! The beachy subtle waves gorgeous!
nise 52 BEAUTIFUL
Ann4U2000 You are inspiring, I'm just starting my journey .
Kim...enjoy the journey...it's about so much more than just hair. :)
Smooches.
How did it go? I'd love to see pics!
Sounds like those people are either jealous as hell or just mad that you look hot with your gray hair!!!! Be true to yourself 😉💖
I'm excited 😁
Beautiful hair color, grey makes your face glow
You are absolutely gorgeous! I'm in love with your look.
Much love
I love this topic. This is one of my favorite of yours..thank you. For encouraging us mature women to embrace gray... change... and be bold!
One of the things I appreciate most about your channel is how much you allow your viewers to be adults. You never talk down to us. Thank you!
Did the colour remover take out all the dye from months of dying, and you were left with grey or peppered hair?
@@Pussycatfeathers Did you ever get an answer
@@hairrum i didnt but ive used colour B4 at least 4 times and its worked well every time removing the colour but leaving it fairly patchy and never going back to my original colour (hard to remember what that is though?)......its a very time consuming process because of all the rinsing but ive also had it turn dark again immediately because i didnt rinse properly or long enough...all in all though its a great product to get rid of unwanted colour and hair, though a little dry at first, soon recovers
What a great video & an inspiring conversation. Thank you for sharing your journey!! 💗🌸
I am right at the starting point of growing out my natural color. How perfect you published this!
Beauty Boomer .... do not give up. One whole year, but it will happen! I Did it!
☺ Thanks!
Thank you for bringing gray-haired women into focus. We need this! Love your videos

Hi sweetie thank you Birthday
Looking gorgeous Monique! Yours was one of the first TH-cam videos I watched at the beginning of my gray hair transition 2 years ago. I decided to bleach and tone the same as you and it made my transition so much easier. I must be blessed with super polite people surrounding me because I never heard any of the rude comments. But then again I never had a stranger compliment me. But no matter what, I love my gray hair and luckily never had any of those self doubting moments. Love your videos - you inspire us all!
Getting ready for work and needed your encouragement "pep talk". 5 months in, no dye. Thanks Monique .
Best monologue about gray EVER
I think you look gorgeous with your natural hair color!❤
Been on this amazing journey with you for the last few years. You’ve inspired me so been doing the highlights and toner grow out. Got two blue streaks underneath either side too just to add some edge. Sure it’s maintainace, but I’ve never had so many positive comments. Strangers come up to me (seriously both men and women) and tell me they love my hair! My kids and husband tell me I look hot. At 56 at last I’m owning it! Love you bunches x
Your Grey Look Absolutely Beautiful 💖💖💖
I LOVE this video. Thank you for articulating so well the many complexities of going gray.
Tiny House Big Music &
Probably the best ever TH-cam video made! You deserve an Oscar for this one. You are so wise, sensible, deep, convincing and just fantastic! I wish I had the courage and hair to go all grey, but my pepper &salt color is right out extremly horrible to my complexion/eyes) so I am back to deep brown. And my daughters begged on their knees not to go grey. But so many women rocks it!!
I have been with you from the start of your channel. You do have a back bone and that's what hooked me to your videos. You are a rock star. R
I agree. I'm totally hooked too!
Robyn #
The deeper issue is: Why is it bad to be old? Discrimination based on gray hair means its really discrimination based on age.
Doesn't apply to men though. 😠
For the most part although not all gray haired people are old. They are EXPERIENCED!
@@SynergyCeleste Smiles*
You really are inspiring.
manthamac1 zz
I'm a natural red head gone through the strawberry blond now I'm quite silvery white, my hare is very coarse how to keep your grey hair looking healthy ?
Monique, you were my inspiration to go silver. I am so very happy I did! My gray hair is
gorgeous like yours. Never loved a color more. Thank you for being strong and courageous.
Love you girl, and thank you for your support!!!!!
Bravo for wearing your hair the way you want it regardless of what other people think. You are so fun! I love your candidness.
She one of the most stunning women I've ever seen with grey hair..she's beautiful!
Excellent tips. Thank you!!!
Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🦇
Haha. I threw out my "emergency " box of dye recently. It's been years and I'm still getting used to the gray.
Hi Monique. I went gray right along with you. Love it. Never going back.
I’ve always been the girl with the pixie cut. Now it’s sticking up all over and coming in a beautiful silver. I’m loving it.
Same here. I've just turned 70 and love rocking my spikey grey pixie.
valerie lawson I turn 72 in November, good for us girl!
I’ve been going naturally grey for about 6 months. I just throw a violet toner on to remove the yellow tinge every month. It’s so freeing not to worry about it anymore. You know the monthly coloring to cover the grey! I’m embracing it!!
It’s not for the faint of heart. It’s liberating tho
What a beautiful insightful video. You inspired me to go silver and I couldn’t be happier. I went gray by cutting it short and liked itvso much I kept it short. And yes, people approach me to commend me on my hair.
Thank you so much for your help.
THANK YOU FOR BEING HONEST !!! Sadly so many women have to be told it's ok to love themselves " as is " . Thank you for giving " us " a voice !
Agree 100% . I just stopped caring about what others think. Great video, Monique . Keep up with the good work. You’re absolutely gorgeous.
My experience of going silver has been very positive. Your TH-cam videos have helped a great deal! I love my natural color. Thank you ❤
Great conversation Monique. You are one of my role models when it came to ditching the hair dye! You look stunning, and I love your back-round in this video, peonies? Some people have told me I look younger now, so how did I look before ?! Scary 😱. My son says I look more tan, never thought it might be related to positive complexion changes sans the dye.
Thank you for posting this video! Because of you, I’ve started my transition to silver and I’m loving it!
Keep on rockin that grey ❤️
love it when you "ramble". its fantastic. thanks for speaking out
