@cherylspencer8024 Yes! And what's more impressive is that he bought his black cook Mary Jenkins a 2 story house, while he only bought a house trailer for his cousin Billy Smith and his family. He also bought Mary 7 cars from 1963 until his death in 77. He gave her a mink coat for her birthday and a $600 dollar bonus at each Christmas. That's ❤!

I’ve loved Elvis since I was 12, now 47. I don’t know why Elvis always gets such a hard time, he was this he was that, he did this he did that!!! And what’s more annoying is these people know hardly anything about him!! Don’t wanna hear it. I’m a defender and always will be. 💙💙💙 You really need to watch Jerry Schilling telling the story of when they met Nixon. It’s so funny. The power Elvis had is unbelievable 😃

R&B legend Mavis Staples said recently that Elvis was crazy about Cissy and even bought her a Cadillac. She asked him why he gave her a big car and he said "you're a big girl now so you need a big car". Elvis also gave Cissy a silver bracelet that had "From Squirrely" engraved on it which was a personal nickname that Cissy had given him because she said that he was like a squirrel on stage. 😂😂😂 Elvis makes a joke during his 69 shows about being a "squirrel in a tree". Now I know why he said that.😂😂
I subscribed way back at Elvis and The Black Community video. Working through your Elvis play list...popped up here to leave a comment you might avtually see...lol. I love Elvis and your reactions to him. I was 9 years old when Elvis died, my mom and I were planning to see him in concert the next month. I was born the same day as Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie...today actually Feb 1...but in1968 😂 ... my mom was a huge Elvis fan, I was raised with his music. He's like family to me ... weird but true :-) ...thank you for loving him the way us fans do. He deserves all the love. He wasn't perfect, but he was perfectly imperfect. Like the rest of us ...

You should She Ann Margaret interview on the Charlie Rose show when she talks about their relationship, how those around Elvis all cashed in when he died writing tell all books to make money. She was so devastated when he died she sat by his casket for hours. Another Great interview is actress Goldie Hawn on the set of "Laugh In". When Elvis walked onto their set at NBC when he was filming his 68 special next door. That is hilarious. So many people loved him and still do. Thanks Ray

Tell those people who repeat lies about Elvis, to check out Wikipedia about his 1st Hit Song Heartbreak Hotel. He didn’t steal the song or the way he recorded it, and it top several charts before most people had ever seen him. He was chosen to sing it by the song writers, but he produced the sound he wanted. It was one of his top selling songs of 1956 and has been recorded by other artists.
Elvis also helped kick start Jackie Wilson 's career.He gave Wanda Jackson advice to sing rock.He advised Brenda Lee on her career.He and Johnny Cash quick started Roy Orbinson' s career..These are just a few among many.

Yes, I am all about the facts. That does not mean I have never been wrong. I have. I'm human. I would rather be wrong sometimes and learn something and too spark interesting conversations than be right all the time (how boring!)
I do challenge others from time to time but even when I am doing that I am also challenging myself because my natural state is shy and reserved. So when I challenge others I am stepping outside of my own comfort zone (which is a healthy activity to do sometimes, it builds self- confidence and too adds to life experience and you never know, an opportunity may present itself when you step outside of your comfort zone).

I feel you, I'm a straight guy and I'm comfortable with my sexuality but you are right, Johnny depp, Elvis presley, and George strait. Very handsome dudes.
I’ve always felt bad for her because a man she admired and worked with and I’m sure she felt awful when he died and then years later she went through a similar experience yrs later with her daughter. Whitney once said in an interview I was “success is great, it’s fame that kills you”, and it seems both had a hand in doing that once you get beyond that everyone knows me fame into tat all encompassing iconic fame where it’s too much, your life changes drastically and you need to escape it and become somewhat reclusive. May they both rest in peace. By the way yesterday I just wanted to wish Lisa Marie a Happy Birthday. 🎂
Hi Jeri😊💞🌻Not many of us would be able to handle the fame Elvis had and Whitney too, It becomes too much and often times way too fast. If we don't have the maturity or knowledgeable people around us to support us and truly care about us.... it's an extremely challenging journey. We all need the maturity and good people around us to cope in our own everyday lives too so we can only imagine what it must have been like for each of them ( each of their situations were different...I know ) just my opinion. As we know perhaps if his mom had lasted somewhat longer, he could have kept that foundation to help him with his fame, wealth and many problems we can’t know. His Christmas’s he loved when he was growing up. When Priscilla and especially Lisa Marie were around he had a sense of family again. After that was over he used to say I don’t enjoy Christmas as much anymore and didn’t even go back to Graceland at times. Once on Christmas Eve he went to a prison to visit prisoners. Asked what they needed, wanted etc. went out bought it all and even sat and talked with them. I wonder if that was because of the trauma of knowing what his dad went through & how it affected the whole family. I couldn’t believe we just went past Lisa Marie’s Birthday. We Celebrate more death days and Birthdays now. I backed away from the tributes that day because I watched one and started getting upset so I watched them the next day. It helped because I could say well “Today’s not her Birthday “ how’s that for a defense mechanism. I hope your days have been relatively good. More better then not. I’m going through a bit of a bad time. Was put on continual bed rest. Had to call for outside help even though my family is great. Happens Every time after the Holidays. I love them and push and push myself and have a good time. Then afterwards for weeks or months I go through a relapse where all symptoms come back so I have to take lots of meds for pain, fatigue etc. Feel like I’m turning the corner and will be up and about to a decent schedule again.
Hope you have faired better my friend. See you soon again on other comment sites. . One day we need to give each other our emails or texts. That’s what I do with Brent. I’ll figure it out. I’ve gotten others and let me know we can both follow each other on any social media and then send private mail to exchange them.

The holidays can be exhausting even though we love them and having health issues added too I can certainly understand needing rest. It sounds like you have a great family who love you...such a blessing.

Look for the story about the time Elvis was going to perform somewhere and the people running the venue told him he couldn't bring any black singers in and he said he wasn't going without them.
