I remember times when replacing a battery in a phone was just pop out the back cover, remove the old battery, put in the new battery, put the back cover on, done.

I feel sorry for the iPhone designers who were forced to design such unnecessary steps to replace the only consumable part of the Phone, the battery.
I figured it wouldn’t be too difficult to change the battery, but after watching this I’ll just go to the nearest Apple store to get mine changed. I’ll mess something up if I do it myself 😆

Took me two days to change the battery, new lcd, change back cover, change camera lense, but feels like a new phone, gotta love the shiny back side, perfect video without music and clear directions! Subbed

Just managed to complete this repair! I had a terrible time getting the battery power connector plugged back in. I believe this was partly due to the battery not being perfectly vertically lined up when I stuck it back in which meant the power connector was being strained at a weird angle. The screen gasket was also very fiddly, I think I managed to get it reasonably down but I will no longer think of this phone as being anywhere close to water proof, especially because the kit does not come with the speaker gasket.
I have a question. Will the iPhone non-genuine battery message show up when the battery is replaced?

The only hard part is the getting the screen off and reapplying the adhesive at the end, other than that, everything else should be pretty basic.

It’s because as you screw I the 2 screws in the bottom you have to press it down so they didn’t make a mistake

Can i put the adhesive on the battery after installing taptic engine? I forgot to put the adhesive and installed the taptic engine. So now the battery is lose. I just have to put the adhesive and it's done, right? Why removing taptic engine in the first place? To be easier to take the adhesive out only, right? Thanks!
How should we remove the stand-off screw with your kit
Certified computer repair technician here. Took me 4 hours, slowly, methodically, and carefully to replace the battery, and screen using this guide with the iFixIt adhesive band. Take your time, be gentle with EVERYTHING and you can do this. Is there any way to remove the “Unknown Part” warning notification pip? Or, will that always be there for the rest of the phone’s life?
Jailbreaking is the only way unfortunately.
What can I use to unscrew the stand-off screw? I can’t figure out how to unscrew it with anything I have.
Exactly, it’s not included in the set so you have to buy it.
I wonder if the IP68 rating is maintained after the battery replacement when replaced at the apple store.
Why you don’t have iPhone X battery replacement kits? Like the 7 plus kit that includes even the display adhesive

Yes they use more screws to make it harder to replace... The maker of every electronic device must use this method too... This is why I would hate being tech support. Well gee George why can't you just use like maybe four screws and a little super glue to hold that thingamajig together

The problem is not doing the replacement but finding the right battery. They sell so many different brands and they all have flaws.

You are never alone now. And people "might" know what you do and what your children are doing. They can TALK to them. Give them commands. Theoretically. (EFF is the source for this comment.)
In phones - "Phone Bloks" was the thing. But it was in the hands of the industry. They don't want to give people the opportunity to customize. And ("metal bucket - tinfoil" argument is not valid, we are talking about Devices, when we put devices inside us we will think even more about it, seriously. Pacemakers? Updates for them? Vibrators? Sleep-aids?) There should be all-open-sourced hardware: printers, 3d-printers, milling machines, phones, whatever else we have. Some "small millions" want that. Just watch videos about the "HomePod" iFixit.
There should be an alternative to everything, there is enough demand from a number of Tech-Savvy.

Why do you need to drain the battery below 25% and what's that ground by the taptic engine used for?
Gary Beltz for safety. They are easy to puncture and if they don’t have much of a charge, it doesn’t have as much energy when it catches on fire 🔥

At the end of the video, when they are replacing the last two screws, you can tell the screens not seated properly and is raised several mm from the housing.

I’m at 89% on my battery health on my Xs Max what if I get the battery replaced @ Apple will the IP rating still hold through? If no I’m just going to get the new iPhone this coming September the 6.7”
Very helpful video! Only thing that's a downside of the battery replacement is the battery message, but other than that everything sits nice and flush! and all connectors are good!

That’s because isn’t original battery
@@renegalvis1 Wrong, even an Apple original battery will trigger this error. The battery need to be manually paired with the specific phone it's used in by Apple to remove the error.

ive replaced batteries on older iphones, u p to maybe a 7? I need mine replaced and decided to check out how complicated the newer ones are. Holy crap theres a lot of stuff on top.

Thank you for the video. Pls specify the discrepancy in the following:
3.45: battery is taken out in two pieces still attached together
3.54: new battery is prepared a long single piece adhesive is sticked
3.59: A single piece is displayed side film is being removed
4.02: The Battery is split into two pieces not single piece
Pls. advise why there is two different things being shown in the video
3.54 is the normal battery look like but not for iphone xs max ;)

At 1:45 the battery is able to come out just heat up the back with a hairdryer. No need to take out the ground and Taptic Engine .
After changing an original battery on XS won’t show battery health %. Tried few original batteries already, any know why?
I think apple runs some calibration software when they replace the battery at the apple store. If you change the battery at home, then it doesn't show up anymore
Anyone know the general costs for a repair shop to replace battery in an XS Max? So I can then decide if this is too complicated or not depending on professional price 😂
what is the use of iopener
My main problem is replacing the adhesive strips. I've changed out the display on another phone and used "high quality" adhesive strips to only have them start failing and collect dust on them which eventually lead to the screen coming off around the corners. I had to go back, replace it, and add additional liquid glue used for ceramics. Still, this makes the phone no longer water resistant.
I think we should take care of me unlocking the battery more in the phones iPhone ?

Can you puy Iphone 11 pro max battery in Iphone XS Max ? 11 pro has larger battery and they are the same shape so technically it should be possible but if anyone has tried that please share your experience !

(And those get replaced more often than back glass)
The back glass is the only downside
Still, Apple should make it replaceable, but it’s really not as big a deal as some ppl will lead you to belive

Funkentelechy agreed but he doesn’t like Apple and disses them whenever he can. The screen is literally just as easy to replace in the iPhone’s as it is in the Nokia (or whichever it was)
But he won’t say that.
The only time I’ve actually heard him say anything good about Apple is when he was doing drop tests to the XS and the glass never cracked no matter how many times he dropped it, and that impressed the hell out of him.
Not sticking up for Apple as the whole back glass not being replaceable is ridiculous, just trying to be fair to Apple that’s all

@@funkentelechy1708 Jerryrig is an Android fanboy and doesn't miss the chance to bash Apple. What he doesn't mention is unlike other phones where you have to repair them yourself or trust some half baked corner phone repair place, Apple has technicians that fix their phones. This DIY repair BS is dumb... It costs exactly $69 to have this done by Apple ($0 with AppleCare) and that's probably less than you'll spend on the crap battery and tools to do this. Not to mention the cost of repairing damage you do to the phone like destroying the QI charger like she did in the video.

you can't, unless you get the battery replaced by apple. But as long as you don't have any other problems you should be fine

@@mrichardist5764 where though? not at the start or end of the video. not said or in text. i figured you would need to apply some adhesive. but also that it would need some type of press or vacuum tube that would also apply heat in order to fully reseal the phone by letting the adhesive flow in all the right places and remove any gap or air in adhesive. can't be as easy as "apply glue again " or is it?

But I'm sure that this will not be waterproof.
