I love how growing a fruit can bring such a huge amount of joy to so many. The whole process of growing and tasting just makes me very happy. Simple pleasures.😊
I love heirloom tomatoes. They're so interesting both in looks & flavour. I'll be tasting my first Alice's dream tomato tomorrow 😋 I've several heirloom varieties growing in my polytunnel. Tasted a couple so far 😊
What did you think of Alice's Dream? It's in my top 10 this year although I'm not telling in which position yet. It's the next video after tonight's video.
I thought it's the nicest tomato I've ever tasted. It doesn't taste anything like a regular shop/supermarket bought tomato. I'm definitely growing them again next year. The colours are so beautiful. Each plant produced a small number of large tomatoes, possibly 8 - 10 per plant but they've all been a really good size. My word to describe the overall look & taste is.. stunning 😍 It's my top tasting tomato so far 😊
Hi Jacqui, sorry for the late reply. You didn't say which tomato it was but I'm glad it was a winner for you this year. Do you have any other favourites?
Sorry, it was the Alice's dream. Absolutely stunning tomato both in looks and taste. Bite size cherry tomato has been a favourite of my sons purely for the taste and productivity. The costoluto genoves were a tasty tomato too and a very pretty shape. We got to taste a couple of large barred boar, really nice colours and brads atomic grape. We grew around 22 varieties, but some were F1, although not many. I think the weather has had a lot to do with tomato taste and productivity this year 😊
I love the description you give when tasting tomatoes Chris. It may be useful to tell us subscribers where you buy the tomatoes you like the best. Happy gardening, for me this year is a write off, roll on Spring. Aĺl the best
Good idea... if you'd like to buy seeds for any of the heirlooms I grew this year, I have some special seed packs for sale at the moment. Let me know what you think, prefer etc.
😂 I’d do a taste test video but 90% of my labels faded 🤦♀️ so I have 2 varieties of tomatoes big and little 😂. Awesome update Chris some great choi es there. Have a super weekend is it getting super cold there in your area at night, we still have 10c nights, Ali 🇨🇦
Pencil works really well on labels but it looks like you may have found the answer, thank you @DigwellGreenfingers. Blowing a hooley here now and quite stormy. What a summer!
Green Grape is an heirloom tomato, rather than a Heritage variety. It was only developed in 1978. Thanks for the heads up - I'll have to get some seeds as I've not grown this one myself.
@@veggieplot Sorry not to reply sooner. Not used to commenting! Green grape has the best flavour of all the varieties that we grow which is about 24 different varieties. It originally came from the HDRA heritage seed library over 20 years ago and I save seed every year. This stated that it was best grown in a pot to prevent excess foliage and produce more fruit. I don't think that it is the most productive but the flavour bursts in the mouth. I am not an expert like you who can distinguish different flavours but my husband rates this as his favourite. We also grow Texas Wild and Estonian Yellow Mini Cherry which are prolific fruiters of small and very small tomatoes but tons of them. I have grown plants for local people who all like them. Not sure if this helps.
I wish I could still eat tomatoes. I love them. Unfortunately my aid reflux doesn't. You are grwing some spectacular varieties- making my mouth water. Thank you for sharing. Happy gardening 🙂
They can have that effect can't they which is such a shame. Do all varieties have an effect? Some heirlooms are very sweet and fruity with much less acid.
I think it's quite rare as there are so few seeds. I will have some for sale on my website soon, to go with others that are online now. Only to the UK though I'm afraid.
From the video and the author's description, I'm pretty sure the origin is Dr. Wychee's. They look exactly the same and we grew them in our garden last year. They were by far my favorites out of 14 varieties.
That’s interesting-I’ve grown Amish Sherbet, and while they look similar, I find Amish Sherbet to be a more 'fleshy' and solid than Dr Wyche’s. The flavour is different too, and I personally prefer the taste of Amish Sherbet. Have you tried growing both to compare, or are you thinking of giving Amish Sherbet a go next season? I’d love to hear what you think!

I agree, the simple things in life that you have put the effort in for, are usually the most rewarding.

Oh wow, will you share how you like Alice's Dream? I just got my seeds for next year.

Love your channel!! You and Jen Joy are my favorite taste test content creators.
Search for a UNIBALL PNA-125 pen - the ink lasts 5 years on labels. Let me know if you need one sending to you.
@@DigwellGreenfingers excellent on the way 👍👍 of course amazon has them 🤪

Ah, thank you, Jen Joy is great isn't she... grows so many different tomatoes.
These videos have been really interesting and informative. We have grown lots of heritage tomatoes for years, our favourite being Green Grape.

Thank you Alison. I'll have to check out green grape as I haven't heard of that one before. Why do you like it so much?

Hi Sally, coming soon, after tonight's video from the allotment.
Love watching your tomato tasting vlogs. Jo Devon 🙂
Thanks Jo, one more to come... top 10 for 2024 which is out after tonight's video.
thanks for this video

Cannot find Amish Sherbet anywhere
Me neither

I grow Dwarf Beauty King, your one must be a different tomato because they’re not the same tomato?
Yes, I would think DBK and P20 Beauty King are different tomatoes. I haven't heard of yours, do you like it?
The "Amish Sherbert" looks identical to Dr. Wychee's.

@@veggieplot I grew Dr Wychee's and it was solid and fleshy, *exactly* like the one you show in the video. :) My seeds were from Baker Creek.
