The day my son was born on a father's day, I called into a radio station and asked them to pick a song for the special day. They picked this one. Almost 5 years later him and I are sitting here strumming on the guitar and clapping to his "faBorite"* song. *favourite 🤗
I was travelling for work from Winnipeg to Newfoundland just after my wife and I found out we were pregnant. In the taxi it hit me that our first kiddo would be born when I was 33. On the way home to Winnipeg I took the 5 am flight home from St John's. Always loved that extra verse
@@sandracooke7286 Ah, then you have much to discover. They do some lovely Christmas music as well. Not sure what part of the world you are from but also check out Great Big Sea, The Rankins, Jimmy Rankin, Matt Mayes, Rose Cousins, Rea May. Enjoy.

Newfoundland doesn't only have incredible landscape with majestic spots, it also has got this beautiful great band !! I've been there once. Love you Newfoundland!
It is 2023 and this song didn't get the hype it deserved. An incredible song. Hauntingly beautiful lyrics. And this extended bridge- just wow. "The wind will always shift again."
Love this song. Reminds me of when i first heard it before my son was born, and I just sang it to my baby daughter. Neat touch to have the bright lights behind them in this set, just like from baby's perspective
You'll be a bright light coming out of the dark All the doctors blinking hard You'll be lightning coming out of the storm It's a message, it's a miracle You'll do all right You've got your mother's eyes You've got your daddy's head Everything you need For this hard ride They'll be strapping you on All the ups and downs and you can't get off Yes, trouble we're handing off And you've got to do better than us It'll be all right You've got lots of time Got your daddy's love Everything you want I can feel you and what you're gonna be You'll be stronger, you'll be smarter than me Oh baby, I'll say it again You're the most incredible thing Sorry, this is it It's cold and hard and badly lit And there's no backing out of it So forget where you've been It'll never be that good again And we must only look ahead Soon you're 33 And everything you tried to be Is pulled apart by fear and greed Let young hands build you up And carve your face in honest rock With sunlight on your noble jaw May young hands build you up I'm happy that you've come along I'm happy that you've come, I'm happy that you've come Oh baby, I'll say it again I'll say it again, I'll say it You're the most incredible thing
Incredible song. I'm about to be an uncle, and I will share this with my niece every chance I get. Thank you thank you thank you for putting to words everything she deserves to hear.
there is so much emotion here when they play. that's why I'm so excited to see them come here in Winnipeg in less than half a month! This music does me wonders and I aspire to make music like this one day.
Anna Re man I'm waiting for them too. Last time they came to DFW, I was 9-10 years old and they played at a bar. My mom didn't let me come because it might of been a "bad atmosphere". I'll never let her forget about that mistake :P !!!
It always throws me off when they add that verse in the bridge when they play it live! But it ads so much to it and makes it an even greater song than it already is!
The bit that goes from 'So do I welcome you to it? let the god damn games begin because the god that gives deliverance has a thing for disappearing kids' etc
This song always made me think of my beautiful niece since I first heard it when she was about 2 or 3. She unfortunately just lost her father way too early tragically (now aged10), and I dedicate this song (especially that beautiful extra verse) to her once again.. Can someone please post the lyrics to that extra verse.. The ones I find online either don’t contain it or do not sound completely correct.. Love you sweetheart, I’m so sorry. We will all help you through.
So do I welcome you to it? sing ‘let the goddamn games begin’ cause the god that gives deliverance has a thing for disappearing, kid and the fighting on the beaches hit the 5am to Winnipeg the nights of fights and poison piss the needle-edge of old regrets but the wind will always shift again and the breath beneath your epaulets is strength enough to carry it

I sang this song to my first born for his baptism in the church. Every time I listen this song I think of that moment. Already 10 years have passed.

Amazing, your child is now atleast 5 years old, blessings I hope you all are happy and well.
I have a daughter who will turn 7 next week. Now I know what her birthday song will be. She indeed is the most incredible thing like any other child.

You'll be a bright light coming out of the dark
All the doctors blinking hard
You'll be lightning coming out of the storm
It's a message, it's a miracle
You'll do all right
You've got your mother's eyes
You've got your daddy's head
Everything you need
For this hard ride
They'll be strapping you on
All the ups and downs and you can't get off
Yes, trouble we're handing off
And you've got to do better than us
It'll be all right
You've got lots of time
Got your daddy's love
Everything you want
I can feel you and what you're gonna be
You'll be stronger, you'll be smarter than me
Oh baby, I'll say it again
You're the most incredible thing
Sorry, this is it
It's cold and hard and badly lit
And there's no backing out of it
So forget where you've been
It'll never be that good again
And we must only look ahead
Soon you're 33
And everything you tried to be
Is pulled apart by fear and greed
Let young hands build you up
And carve your face in honest rock
With sunlight on your noble jaw
May young hands build you up
I'm happy that you've come along
I'm happy that you've come, I'm happy that you've come
Oh baby, I'll say it again
I'll say it again, I'll say it
You're the most incredible thing
The extra lyrics are amazing, why aren't they in the album version of the song
The progression and mix of sound in this song is brilliant. The lyrics are profound. Beautiful piece of music all around. Very moving.
Those lyrics are simultaneously heart wrenching and heart warming.
This is the most beautiful song that exists

I keep on coming back to this video. What an amazing performance from one of the best bands of our time.
The East Coast is where "the Goods" lay in Canadian music. This #NL act is the kind of heartfelt stuff you live to.
Truer words have never been spoken! Can't beat the East Coast music scene ♥
What about some hardcore west coast flavour.

I walked out of the hospital with my daughter when she was born and my brain repeated these lyrics. 💙
Stunning. Each acoustic session is better than the previous. Love you guys
Same here. Festival d'été de Québec 2012. I can't stop listening to them since that time.
That was stunning, CME you just out do your selves each and every time.
I miss this. Come back we need you.
This is the most incredible thing!
the most underrated song i know!
Chad Irvine Most underrated band. They should be much bigger than they are.
They were great at the Simcoe Stopover, GOTR. To hear them with such amplification was amazing.
They're from Newfoundland, Canada!! Me too! PERFECTION!
Favorite song, so beautiful. The sound is wonderful!
Is there any way to get this version on Spotify? I love this version, and that extension to the bridge is simply haunting.

Proposed to my now fiance after their latest concert back home in Newfoundland!
It always throws me off when they add that verse in the bridge when they play it live! But it ads so much to it and makes it an even greater song than it already is!
lovely
amazing
THAT WAS FREAKIN RAD
Love it
also i love how they use multiple instruments for 1 song
Super in sync. I'm picking up my guitar again.
For Phoebe Jean, for everything you are, and everything you could be. I can't wait to meet you.

Not sure if you need a psychologist or a grammar teacher. Either way, you in no way understand what this band is all about.
He doesn't understand what the band is about by quoting the lyrics of the song?
Hahaha...it was an extra verse.
"the needle edge of all regret"
